Yes, the day remained yesterday 1st of October, 2017 which coincidentally is also the Nigerian independence day. The venue was Sheraton hotels Abuja Nigeria. In attendance were men and women of timber and caliber including The Minister of Information Alhaji Lai Mohammed. The tstv Africa launched/unveiled without sports channels. What am trying to say is that tstv Africa was unveiled yesterday amid all the pomp and pageantry that it deserves.
Must Read: TStv Africa full analysis and overview
It mentioned all the features that were listed on its website with the exclusion of dedicated sports channels that can broadcast prominent football action across major leagues of the world. In a nutshell, the mention of beIN sports was absent.
If you had read my analysis of them, you will not be disappointed. I am personally not disappointed with the genus of Bright echelu the CEO of the company. They offer a pay-as-you view, wifi routing, huge data(for close to nothing), and entertainment channels for prices that range from 200 to #3,000. And what is more, the internet speed peaked at 4g. Meaning even villagers can enjoy 4g network. I beg I duff my hat for them. This is no mean feat. I will never condemn them because I already knew from the beginning that they might not have the right to broadcast EPL.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE OCCASIONSÂ
Don’t let your heart be broken that tstv Africa launched/unveiled without sports channels. They offer other innovative features that are first of their kind in Nigeria. You will never regret buying their decoder trust me. Below are the highlights of the occasion of tstv Africa launching at Sheraton hotel. The event was broadcasted live on AIT.
- The MC did his job perfectly by keeping the guest alive and introducing the speakers
- We had in attendance the Minister for information, Former minister for aviation Mr FemiFanii Kayode, some artists and others that I can’t mention
- They introduced some entertainment channels like “Hits tv”, M Africa, gande movie and so on. but there was nothing like the “bein sports”, the “fox sports”
- A notable staff from the Nigerian broadcasting commission addressed the crowd and made the mistake of mentioning “D*st” instead of tstv. Don’t blame her it’s one of those things, everyone is used to the SA giant
- Lastly, the honorable minister officially inaugurated the decoder which is exactly like what is on their website. Any newly established creative/entertainment industry in Nigeria is now eligible for 3 years of tax relief. This is a good incentive. I wish they extend this across all sectors
Tstv Africa launched/unveiled without sports What do you must know before you buy
First and foremost, I must admit that we Nigerians actually put words into the mouth of Tstv. Also, even if they went too far with the advertisement, we should have known their limits. We want all the best things for cheap, however, we should know that some things are not possible at certain times. Join me in reading things you need to know before buying the Tstv Africa decoder.
Now to the factors under consideration before buying Tstv
- There are no negatives about this revolutionary platform even if they do not offer sports channels that will broadcast EPL. To me, it is a win-win situation. Ridiculously cheap data + entertainment channels+ pausing of subscription capability + PVR + an all in one package. There is no single deal breaker for me. Let us celebrate our own.
- Also, the internet services of tstv might precede the proper functioning of their satellite services. There is a leaked video on youtube to this effect. Please click this link to watch the youtube video
- Similarly, Tstv is not yet available in commercial quantity as of the time of publishing this article The 2nd of October, 2017. Please do not make any advance payment to any person or group.
- Furthermore, there are currently no channels that belong to tstv showing on Abs3w. Let us hope they are working on it. No channels at launch. This is weird
- Also, the pay-per-view capability is only available on their ultimate subscription which is that of #3,000, and it’s for a maximum period of seven days in a month which means you can only extend your service from 30 days to 37 days. Do not expect this on any of their subscription lesser than the one of #3,000
- More so, you should have it in mind that with #5,000, you get everything that will get you started with the exclusion of the installation fees.
- According to the information on their website, you can get additional data for #300 for 1gb. Please give me the data. The data must fall on me lol
- You get the 20gb free only when you first buy the package. Subsequently, you receive 10gb on renewal of your subscription
- Contrary to a popular misconception. There is no correlation between the data they offering and the viewing of their channels. One is independent of the other. The data solution is a value-added service(Although to me, they brought me over with this)
- Please click here to watch one of the finterviews with the CEO of Tstv Africa
Tstv Africa launched/unveiled without sports of what use is it then?
Although it might be painful that tstv did not launch with any sports channels, in fact, their satellite signal is off currently. On the other side, if they redeemed other promises made(like the cheap data solution), they will remain a winner against all odds. Below are the effects of the announcement and subsequent launching of tstv Africa on existing pay-TV and telecoms company.
- Tstv Africa gave DSTVÂ a huge scare: currently, DStv compact users can watch the UEFA champions league. Learn more here. GoTv also has a massive channels upgrade and a currently ongoing promo. Generally, DStv is trying to adjust to the recession period currently being experienced
- The telecom industry is not left out: Assuming tstv makes good on its promise, the telecom industry in Nigeria will never remain the same. I mean, who will sell 20gb of 4g network for #5,000? That is what you get when you first buy their decoder. Talking of resubscription, you will be entitled to 10gb with every resubscription. They have also considered those who might want to top up their data. So they offer 1gb of data for a token of #300.
- This is a great revolution irrespective of your perspective: Pay per consumption, Wifi routing, and satellite internet are all of the needed services in Africa. They promise all of this, if they deliver them, we only need to sit down and watch as prices of cable tv subscriptions and of internet data plummet drastically.
CONCLUSION
I am so sorry, I do not feel disappointed about the lack of sports channels on tstv at the launch. If you feel the same way, it means you are either new to this site, you are a novice about how broadcast rights/ licenses work or you just chose to give yourself some unbelievable hopes. I will probably do the same thing in areas where I lack in-depth knowledge of the modus operandi.
Especially relevant, I want to state it categorically that this is not a sponsored article and I am not affiliated with any cable company or dongle company whatsoever. If tstv Africa propagates what they promise. I might be one of their resellers if I have the capital. Conclusively, please take any information you get outside their official channels with a pinch of salt. Share this information and help others.

when DSTV started they didn’t start big, TSTV is a Nigeria thing let’s support our own.
the satellite dish comes with internet so why didn’t DSTV introduce internet in their decoder?
@isokasim: we are all waiting patently
my chat with the TSTV customer services below:
11:59
Hello, Good Afternoon!
Welcome to TStv Africa live chat.
My name is Kalu
We have Sport Channels that shows Major European League LIVE Matches.
E.g EPL, UCL, Laliga etc
Our decoder will be available for purchase on or before the end of this month.
oh okay, thank you for the update..
have a good day
i was chatting with their online customer care representative and she confirmed that sport stations are included in their package and that they show epl, laliga etc. i could have uploaded our chat for you guys to see but there is no room for that here.
Many people are just talking about the huge free data on tstv but don’t be surprise that u might not even be able to sort internet or stream effectively wit it in many areas cos just wondering the type of network they operate
Lemmy what type of internet network is tstv operating wit? Is it glo or airtel or mtn or it has its own seprate network. Tstv has to knw that there are some area were u cannot stream good wit such huge free data. Example. Glo network has a very cheap data but it’s not good to stream wit it in many areas.
@Donjp: They call it DTH Satellite internet solution
Lemmymorgan all the sport channels will be there, I was at their Head office this morning, is just that there are big dishes that they are still mounting and some of the fittings even in the customer care are yet to be fixed. I could have upload the fix of the sport channels live in their offices. but I see no provision for upload here
@Caevee send the pics to lemmy’s email. He will upload it for us to see. Thank you
tstv the way I see it politics will be played in the management and administration
Lammy, tstv had just hack thier decorder, gave u the tools u requre to watch just about anything.
@garba: hacking is something huge. It. Means they are an open source which can be subject to manipulations from just anybody. Let us all just wait and see.
I totally agree with Mr lemmy bein sport is pretty strict they are based in mena only..you folks Google epl licensed channels operators using wiki you gonna see the list, I knew from the very start why putting beinsport1-14..for me am only interested in the data…that was how mytv introduced mbc channels package but with time they cut all off…tstv we hope they deliver not now but future times..mr lemmy well said I site u sir
@glen: you won’t believe it if I tell you that am not aware that MBC channels are no longer on mytv. The issues of rights and licenses is no child’s play. It is beyond one having the financial wherewithal only.
changes occurs rapidly Mr lemmy that what we Nigerians fail to understand it not now that counts but what the future holds for tstv…has far I can tell running data on 4.5g platform ain’t childs play kudos to them but hope the data last properly..
Lemmy you are correct because it is only dstv that has the right to show EPL in west Africa ,but am hopeful tstv will show it because they said that they are going to do that through their internate service since dstv operates through satlite. Meanwhile I have been patronising dstv since 2002 but now am going to tstv because it is our own, even if they are not showing EPL maybe in the future they will show it. Again their 20 or10 gig, recording ability, pulse, fast forward and pay by viewing services makes them the best in africa. They are not as greedy as dstv who must extort you more for providing you with any of these services like buying dstv explorer which can’t even give u data like tstv. Long live tstv, they are already running in my blood,I can’t wait to get it in my house, they are Nigerian made with job opportunity for our people, they are my own.
*it has nothing to do with Internet sir
Good morning friends. I want to brinÄ£ out some facts. tstv is a full fledged phone. its a smart phone with video capabilities. their right is called ‘over the top’ its a technology that deliver packets (video, audio, voice and data over telecommunications signals, very different from dstv rights. their dish act as outdoor antenna, look at it like thuraya phone. u will be able to use ur ‘decoder’ to call another decoder and install apps, and watch sports.
while I understand the reservation of lemmymorgan.com bcoz of epl terms, legality issues can b very tricky and that’s where tstv has exploited on some clauses. This is a libration for all Nigerian and that’s why they chose oct 1st as their unveiling day, very symbolic. lets all praise Jah!!
I went to tstv office yesterday 2nd oct to smoothen my dealership issues and got answers to some pertinent questions. Have a glorious day ahead.
Hello Lemmy. I guess it’s time you do an unboxing and a review. We await your take when you buy the TStv package.
@Ghost: why can’t you buy it, first sir? On a more serious note, I will buy it when its out because of the data and trust me, I will update this house
Why this argument in the house? this is simple mathematics. If you will not get sport channels on your tstv, simple get the decorder with data and connect with an andriod box with iptv and you are o the move in watching all your sport channels you want.
The video link you dropped about it being leaked has nothing to do with TStv at all, that’s a very different tstv, not even the same design.
Pls, next time be sure of the things you post before you post them
@Emmanuelibrahim: I have approved your comment. This is an open platform I sit on the fence here. I have nothing against anyone.
Oga Lemmy TSTV is one of the most talked about pay TV station right now in Nigeria. They are hitting the market like anHurricane. I go with some of the guys earlier on who made valid points with regards to tstv especially @David its clearly on their web site with sport channels.pls lets supports made in Nija products enough of the Monopoly & exploits we ve been subjected to by DS…….THIEVS!!!!!!!!!
Just like Lemmy said, they bought me over too. after I personally reviewed this decoder. Just give me the data and the decoder. I have used dstv Xplorer before ( which a scam) and smart TV which I enjoyed browsing on it. I sold it because of data. If Tstv can give me this smart decoder then they are my hero for 2017.
Sorry I know this is not the right place but I need to seek for this help. can someone help me with frequency to scan kwese free sport out of joytv location. ? It currently showing live matches at random.
@Mykel Kwese sport KFS is back on joy tv position just add with this frequency 11595v30000
Thanks
Hello Lemmy thanks for the information but please stop spreading false info as regards the sports stations. If it would not be possible they would not have included it in their website, and for correction being sport has an exclusive right on showing almost all the leagues in the world regardless of the DSTV. why is it that metrodigital and other pay tvs are viewing epl and other league matches via being sport. Please before making important comments as this be 100 percent sure.
@David ISHA: Am more informed than you are on broadcast right issues. Bein sports has right to cover only MENA, Dstv covers sub-Saharan Africa. In other words, even if tstv has more than enough money to buy a right, they will have to wait until dstv’s epl right expires or They can buy the kind of right that will ebale them show one match every Saturdays like kwese sports bought. That is as far as EPL right is concerned. What happened, when HITV had the right back in the days? DSTV waited patiently for their time. My dear My David, please do not drag sentiment into this. My articles are among the most objective. You also made mention of metro/ CTL. Have you asked yourself why metro and ctl have not being allowed to cover the whole of Nigeria? Why are their sports packages limited to some parts of the country officially? Startimes is available almost everywhere same with consat and mytv. Why is ctl and metro’s case not like that? Please let us debate constructively. If metro launches in Lagos alone, DSTV don finish trust me..
What makes you think you know more than we your readers? The fact that you own a blog doesn’t make you more intelligent than us. You will be shamed when they commence with their sport channels. No man is an island of wisdom, we learn continously….
Fastfoward the video to 21.00. Except u’re the CEO, i’ll believe u
@Akinwale Adedeji: believe me on what exactly? The fact that sports weren’t unveiled or the fact that I am amazed at their innovative ideas?
@Akinwale Adedeji: what brought about that hate words? Who is debating what here? Is it a crime to talk about what I saw. Were the sports channels presented at the unveiling/launching? I do not even need to come at you at all because your harsh words are totally uncalled for.
I always respect you but the way you’re sounding is as if the CEO is not telling the truth about TSTV. Why are we always pessimistic about any inventions by our fellow Nigerians?
@Fulus: this is business and you need PR. They didn’t talk about sports during the launch. For God’s sake, this is supposed to be an official pay-TV company and not a dongle company. Why will they hold back their selling point(which is the sport channels) as far as the satellite aspect of their service is concern?
Let’s wait and see as these events unfold. I want to be their dealer but they said I should hold till next week. So let’s all wait. None of us shall die before then. Currently neither News, entertainment, documentary, music or whatsoever is showing. we have not even got the decoder. None of us get any claim. Am just waiting
That WS what gave me concern when I watch d lunch program on AIT their sport channel were nt show case which is suppose to be their selling point
Oga there is Bein sport channels as list of sports channels on their website check it out.
@ed: but it wasn’t unveiled yesterday as part of their channels.
@Lemmy. thanks for the writeup. Is it not possible for tstv to align with bein sport or arab sport like champion tv did in ghana?
I know you are not a legal luminaries but what will it take to do that. As elites, we need to come up with sth to break free from dstieves monopoly ,the oppression is too much.
according to CEO in the video he said we can watch EPL UCL and Spanish league and u said no sports channels so how are they going to show matches without sports channels so who do we believe you or the CEO
@emikoro: during unveiling no mentioned of sports boss, the majority of people who are interested in it do so because of sports. Why will they leave out their supposedly selling point? Can you attempt the answer to this question? Are they gonna show sports illegally?
Please I want a default password for Apollo adult channels on Tiger star
I just met with a neighbour who attended the unveiling event live and from what gathered from him in pictures, videos and print media, the Sports package were included. Sales of the decoder still haven’t yet started, as of now in Abuja
@wilfem: we shall see. They showed the channels and it didn’t include sports and news.
Pls when are they stating there broadcasting or there signal at 3w?
@Lucky Man: That is beyond me for now.
Thanks for this write up, please can someone connect an android phone with tstv decoder or a laptop to share network?
@Abrham; it is claimed to have a wifi router capability. This simply means that with your tstv Africa decoder, you can share your internet connection from your decoder with anyone within the wifi signal coverage. This is otherwise known as wifi tethering or hotspot
What is their satellite position and frequency? Thanks
@Atagold: rumours had it that they will be airting their channels on ABS3
thanks for the write up but what interest me most after listening to interview with the Ceo is that the decoder is an adroid base decoder which mean you can download any application on google play like mobdro and so on.
even thou they did not include the sport station has promise we can be rest assured that we can watch all the league on it with the help of the internet data
@olarenwaju: That is IPTV. Anyway, like I said, it is a win-win situation and please do not conclude yet that it is Android until you receive a copy
Mr Lemmy Please help me I want a default password for Apollo adult channels on Tiger star
Good morning Mr Lemmy Please I want a default password for Apollo adult channels on Tiger star
