A brief overview of the “buzzing tstv africa” Nigeria limited
You and I know too well that the reasons why there is so many noise about TSTV is because of sports. When i talk of sports, we talk of soccer and as far as Nigeria is concern, we are addicted to English premier league. TSTV has on their channels list, 14 sports channels some of which are household names like Bein(We will get back to this)
Tstv Africa is a satellite tv company owned by telecom satellite tv Nigeria Ltd. For the record, this is not the firt time they will be announcing a launch. they announced the launching as far back as May which did not materialise then. I guess they are waiting for the big kill. There are so many conflicting and contradicting stories about them which promot me to get my information directly from their website. Now let me break this into sub-headings for clarification purpose.
Abut the buzzing TSTV Africa
Our vision is to provide premium video experience to Nigerians at affordable prices. Our services will enable the viewers to experience HD and SD video and internet surfing at the same time. We are the first indigenous local operator in the region to launch such a premium platform with a variety of services to Nigerians, who have been so far paying exorbitant prices to foreign operators.”

Where is the corporate head office located?: Their corporate head office is at the address below:

On which position will they be broadcasting from? There is a rumour already making rounds that they are on ABS3 @3.0W. However, they have disclaimed this rumour on their social media handles. Currently, no one knows the position from where they will be broadcasting. This is strange because it simply means there is no test transmission. It is 5 days to go anyway. To support this, when I clicked on the page linking to how to use TSTV on their website, what I saw is a “will be updated soon” message
Where can we view the full channels list? Of course, there is a link to buzzing tstv Africa all their channels on their website. I also have a screen grab of all the sports channels there are to show. In total, they have about 63 channels that cut across all genres. 14 of this are sports channels
How would their decoder/ set box look like and what is the price of their subscription?
Although we have different designs of how their decoder will look like. However, I got the one am to upload below directly from their website.
Also, the price of the decoder and the necessary accessories will be #5000. On the other hand, they have their subscriptions in the following rates: #200, #1,500… #3000(which is the maximum and valid for 30 days)
The buzzing tstv africa mode of operation
They asserted that they will offer both satellite tv experience as well as internet subscription. The data volume will depend on the subscription you choose. 20gb will be the highest data allocation and the internet service will not be charged separately as it is complimentary. Channels will be in HD and SD. You can contact their support here or view their frequently asked questions on this page
What about their footprint?
For now, they will be sold only in Nigeria. Logically, they should have most countries in Africa as their footprint. If they are for real, they will bestride the whole of Africa like a colossus in no distant time.
What about their tracking parameters/credentials?
There is no position yet. Therefore, we can’t have frequencies, polarity or symbol rates at this time.
Where can I buy from and from whom can I get further details
They already have many dealers. Most of which are in Lagos. You can check out their dealers from this page. Also, their official website is tstvafrica.com you can get more information from their support staff.
Now don’t miss the next part of this article as it is designed specifically for you open the next page>>
Please boss when is tstv coming to Ghana please let me no ok
These TSTV guys are actually reckless. I am really surprised that they brought the minister into this.
I believe that this is another MMM. Buyers beware. This is based on the following:
1. Bein sports acquired the EPL, Champions League and Laliga only for MENA (Middle East and North Africa). They do not have the right for Nigeria. DSTV owns the rights for Nigeria till 2019. You cannot give what you do not have. When a new service is launched, you have to wait for the next bidding round to have a shot at acquiring the rights. You cannot jump in the middle and start showing it. Things are not done that way in the PayTV world.
2.
A lot of channels listed like CNN, National Geographic, Discovery etc were acquired by DSTV on an exclusive basis for DTH in sub-saharan Africa by DSTV. Channels like Star Movies, MBC2, etc are only cleared for middle east and Asia. I really doubt that they have the rights to those channels. They may show it for one or two months before they are asked to take them off air.
3.
I check with a content aggregator on the cost per subscriber for these channels, assuming they can buy the rights, it came out the about 23 USD per month. That is excluding the sports channels. Based on today’s naira exchange rate of 365 naira to a dollar, the cost is 8,395 Naira per subscriber. The content owners globally charge per month for their content. They do not charge per week or part of the month. The content owners dictate the terms. Nobody can pay 8395 Naira and charge 3000 Naira. Not possible.
4.
The cost of decoder package is as follows – decoder 25 USD, smartcard 4 USD, dish is 5 USD. Total is 34 USD (12410 naira). If we add shipping and clearing, you can get 15,000 Naira. To charge 5000 Naira for the package, you will need a lot of cheap money from bank to fund the decoder purchase. Buying 15,000 and selling 5000 sounds interesting to me.
5.
To do internet via satellite, you need VSAT equipment which is expensive compared to the dish/lnb you need to receive dstv. Minimum cost of vsat equipment should be not less than 50,000 Naira. If you use the traditional dish equipment, you can only receive. You cannot do internet with it. Unless TSTV will supply you 40,000 Naira vsat equipment for 5000 Naira.
6.
I went to lyngsat and checked the ABS 3A satellite, I did not see any information about any TSTV channels. Lyngsat is the database of all channels currently on satellite.
7.
When you launch a new DTH platform, you start with a test transmission. This allows you to work through some issues that might come up. It also gives people chance to see some of your channels to make sure they are real before committing their money. There is no test transmission from TSTV.
In conclusion, people should ask enough questions before investing their hard earned money. If it is too good to be true, it’s probably is. Let this not be another MMM.
Real food for thought.
And finally the long awaited TSTV is lunch today @ Abuja & air live on AIT. Happy Independent to all Nigeria

Well done OGA Lemmy!
Pls, a little added info to TSTV is that, they re now on a test transmission at ABS3 @ 3’west, with TP:12529 V 36000, tracked with 60cm dish up above, for now with 7 channels (TVC-News including), so lets watch & hope for the better, thanks.
I tried it but is not working what should I do next? Is there another frequency?
lovely write up lemmy, well having chat with their customer services, i was able to get some information even tho the CS couldnt give detail on technical aspect, the data to be given is excluding the satelite channel, the data is only like a bonus to use in the house , wifi it for pc or mobile, it has noting to do with watching those channels, and they are not iptv but totally a satelite tv .
their pay as you go came from able to pause sub for 7days in a month, so the believe they are being fair enough so you dont have to pay , then situation arise from power or travel and your sub is counting, that is why the max 7 days pause came and they decided to call it pay as you consume.
they claim their bonus data to use for home is 10GB for 3000N sub, and if you finishes it, you can buy 1GB for N300, which their data is 4.5G, they couldnt explain to me what network are they on.
but like lemmy had said, we dont know their frequency and other info to track them but i want to believe they would reveal that after Oct 1st,
what baffles me is , all dealer would have to come to abj for the decoder, yes its not advisable to pay money first, but its gonna be crazy to travel to abj to get good as a dealer.
how will the dealer even make their profit.
well i guess OCT1 got alot of question to answer, and every nigerian is anxiously waiting for Oct 1, not because 9ja is gonna be 1 yr older, but TSTV wanna redefine satelite tv in Nigeria.
let wait and see.
What a good write up…Lemmy you’ve spoken well but the are I don’t understand is pay as you watch and the 30 days validity period for the highest subscription.. I think there there is term and conditions that has not been disclosed by tstv.
@Kenny: pay as yu consume in their language implies that you spend what you can consume. Maybe this is linked to the data plans I can’t say. They are trying to operate like IPTV. Advance IPTV. October is around the corner and we are talking about 1st of october here.
20Gig for the whole month?or you’ll have to switch your box off when there’s no football right?I don’t think it can even last a day
@sparxx: I can’t yet figure out how they want to deliver. They are saying the 20gb is free to use and independent of your cable subscription. If it is, however, going to be used to stream the channels live like IPTV, then it won’t even last a week.
Dear Lemmy
Some of your analysis are wrong…no body paid 9,000 for Hitv…..
We paid 6,000 for full option while dstv was 12,000…
Tstv is Giving 10Gb as value added service for now and we assumed it to be a promo…….
Abg,metro and the rest have been showing sports for years and their subscription is 3,000….why is Tstv not possible…..
I stand to be corrected as i felt your write up is biased…….
@samfeminist:”who said its not possible? In how many states of the federation is metro offering sports channels officially?
The hitv is a non-issue because they have full rights to Epl and when they were broadcasting Epl dstv wasn’t.. That’s broadcast right for you.
Please be objective nobody is an enemy of progress here.
Even if hitv were showing it for 2000 and dstv 20k. The fact remains that I tv wrestle the rights out of dstv’s grasp
Bro lemmy can TSTV DECODER be used in Ghana if subscription is paid?
Bro lemmy can TSTV DECODER be used in Ghana?
@Abrewaba PK: of its launched in Nigeria successfully, it will gradually spread across the rest of Africa
Well done Lemmy for this article. We all have our fingers crossed waiting for 1st October. But talking about the test transmission from which we’re supposed to see the quality of stuff they are bringing to us, can we receive this without their decoder?
@Henry: I don’t think they have the test channels yet. At least not officially
From my own point of view, tstv is possible and many people will fall victim of ignorant.
The reasons goes thus,
You can exhaust your 20g a day, this pay tv will curtail unnecessary watching of tv, when there is nothing important to watch, you off it.
We are waiting your TStv in Ghana
Thanks for the enlightenment. I am better informed now. Waiting to see in a few time.
Please Lemmy y don’t you have watsap group we can follow?
That’s I follow this group because I see truth here thanks man nd God bless you more than your expectations
Oga Lemmy God Bless u 4 ur in dep tanalysis Many tnx one luv!!!
Thank for this quick write up on tstv.
We will be waiting….
Many tanx 2 u Lemmy 4 shading more lights on the issue of TSTV. I cant wait 4 them to lunch it i am getting my own box quickly enough of the exploits by Ds………….thievs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
may our lord bless you is only who is born again can said the truth remain bless
TSTV said the are Telecom while DSTV is SATELLITE provider so Dstv have no rights on anything the broadcast
@Mulki: Nice contribution. We will see how this pans out after the 1st of October.
Lemmy this your update is unlike your article and highly rhetoric
@Benny: yes. It must be rhetoric if I must maintain my neutrality. As rhetoric as it sounded, I am sure you can still relate and connect to it. The bottom line is that you should never say never both ways. Everything can work according to plan, and part of the plans or all of it can fail.
The key is that you should watch as events unfold before taking a decision
only time will tell, i have being on the neutral side my issue is the rights to epl , it isnt that easy… well who knows…lets wait and i advice we do as d boss has said wait till they launch it and we can test.
