Much has been said in the past about the big dish factor. This notwithstanding, its significance to free-to-air users can never be overemphasized. In case you don’t know, only with a big dish(mainly prime focus) can you get the most of free-to-air channels that can allow you to watch premium channels free and legitimately. Just yesterday, I posted an article on a dedicated sports satellite tv package that has been working for free since April 2016. You can read it here. This and many other freebies are mainly available on a big dish of around 1.2 meters and above.

I grew up knowing the big ugly satellite dishes. Interestingly, the big dish factor still holds sway today. In today’s article, we are only considering a prime focus dish which is best for C band, and also very good for Ku Band LNB. A satellite dish is used to pick up a TV signal beamed to you from space via satellite; it then sends this signal to your satellite receiver via the antenna cable for decoding. A satellite dish is a parabolic television antenna that receives signals from communication satellites in orbit around the Earth.
The type of big dish you should buy in Africa and why
You should always go for a prime focus dish if indeed, you have an interest in switching to pure FTA. Offset dishes are generally small, between 60cm to 1meter. Offset dishes by nomenclature are called Ku Band dishes, and it is almost impossible to use Ku band for c band signals. On the contrary, you can use a big prime focus dish for both the C band and the Ku band.
The Prime Focus Dish
The Prime Focus dish (parabolic antenna) is a perfectly round satellite antenna. It is symmetric built and has a parabolic shape. The focal point is in the middle of the dish. That’s why the LNB is mounted centrally at the focus, where it can collect all incoming signals. Such a satellite antenna is typically larger than 1.2 meters.

The advantages of a prime focus dish

• Because of its relatively large surface, the prime focus antenna is less sensitive to small directional deviations, and there is a better chance of receiving signals outside the normal footprint. Although we have a handful of disadvantages of the prime focus dish, Its major advantage, as mentioned above, is an irresistible urge to buy for all free-to-air enthusiasts. It is only with a prime focus dish that you can receive many satellite signals outside your footprint
Types of big dishes by material reflectors
We are still on the big dish factor. Moving forward, let us acquaint ourselves with categorizing dishes based on the materials with which it’s being constructed. This has two categories: Panel dish/antenna(also known as Pan) and mesh.
1. Panel antenna
According to the material of the reflector, there are types of steel, aluminum, fiberglass, plastic ester, etc. Among these,
- Steel antennae is made of press forming steel plate through the mold, which has a large output, low cost, and highest utilization in personal receiving. Examples are dstv dish, startimes dish, or any other dish constructed with steel/galvanized iron.
- The aluminum antenna is made of a press-forming aluminum plate through the mold, which has features of lightweight, no rust, and self-protection. When the aluminum protection layer is scratched, it can generate light aluminum film to protect itself quickly; but this is with weak intensity and easy to distort.
- Fiberglass antenna(this is by far the best for Africa in the economy and signal sense of it): is made of fiber glass enhanced SMC material through high temperature and high pressure. With aluminum foil, a metal net in the internal fiber, or spraying metallic paint on the surface, it is used to reflect satellite signals and receive Ku-band signals with high gain. The antenna adopts metallic paint and aluminum foil as interlayers. It has features of lightweight and corrosion resistance but the firmness of the reflector material is poor and its lifespan is short. This is more used in earlier time. However, we always adopt a metal net as an interlayer, which has good firmness, long lifetime lightweight, and corrosion resistance. The lifespan of a Fiber dish depends on the construction company or group. You need to be cautious before buying a fiber dish.
- A plastic ester antenna consists of plastic ester material. Its interlayer with steel mesh is used to reflect satellite signals, which has corrosion resistance features, high precision, high intensity, decorativeness, and concealing. It’s often used among Ku-band antennas with a small diameter.
According to the structure of the reflector, we can divide the panel antenna into the complete panel and segmented panel antenna. The complete antenna is the polar one. Segmented antenna(also known as detachable) is a common satellite antenna, whose reflector consists of multiple panels. This is because of shipping convenience. The segment antenna’s efficiency is lower than the complete panel antenna of the same size.
2. Mesh antenna
The reflector of the mesh antenna is made through compression molding with wire mesh. It has features of lightweight, low cost, and good wind resistance, but low efficiency and low signal gain. The antenna gain depends on the molding precision of the keel.
According to the usage, mesh antenna can be divided into two categories: one is a special antenna to receive C-band satellite signal with bigger mesh; the other is dual band antenna to receive both C and Ku band signal with a smaller mesh. Mesh antenna usually adopts black or grey color. This is to overcome the adverse effect of LNB temperature being too high and C/N decline caused by sunlight reflecting and focusing.
The big dish factor-where can buy one.
I will start by congratulating my followers. Due to popular demand, I am now promoting and selling big satellite dishes. As I said earlier, big dishes lean more toward free than dongle users. I have seen many people who stopped worrying about dongles with the acquisition and installation of a big dish. You cannot go wrong if you own one.
There are many places from where you can buy the dish. If you are outside Nigeria, purchase one locally to save you huge shipping costs. However, there are some exceptions to this. Some of my followers outside Nigeria complain about the non-availability of the really big ones in their country. In such a situation, we can work out something. Also, you can contact your local satellite installer for help. However, if you want to buy from me for one constraint or the other, contact me through my email “info @ lemmymorgan.com“.
Types of dishes That Are available for sale.
Please do not contact me for a 1-meter or 1.2-meter dish. The size range is as follows:
- 3 meters pan or fibre(300cm)
- 3.6 meters fibre(360cm)
- 3.8 meters fiber
- 4 meters fiber
- 5.2 meters fiber
Time duration of the delivery after payment
First, I have three suppliers, all of whom are very reliable. However, their prices vary as a result of their delivery speed. One of my suppliers only sells 3 meters pan dishes. The remaining two sell fiber dishes from 3 meters upwards. The onus now lies in selecting the one you want based on location.
For instance, the 3 meters pan is segmented, which means it can easily be sent outside Nigeria compared to fiber. Generally, the delivery period is between 6 and 28 days after payment.
Transportation of the big dish
We can ship the dish anywhere in Africa. Prices of shipping within Nigeria depend on the location. For example, in Lagos, Nigeria, you can pay between #12,000 to #20,000. If you are outside Nigeria, the prices can be as much as #85,000 for air cargo and much lesser for Land. If you reside in another state within Nigeria, it can be between #25,000 to #35,000(maximum). This is just the idea of only the cost of the transportation.
Often, we negotiate with the buyer on the most affordable and secure means of transportation.
The price
I have a very flexible price regime. My prices are reasonable. Although I will not least the prices here for security reasons. I do not want to cause bad blood. This is a business that so many people are involved in. For the price, please make use of the contact page or my email (info @ lemmymorgan.com),
Do I still need to reiterate that all your transactions are safe with Lemmy Morgan? The pedigree and integrity are there for all my clients to see. If you are visiting this site for the first time, I want to tell you today that your transaction is safe with me. Finally, do not mistake this for a full return to dongle. I will still not sell dongles, but I will sell every other satellite accessory or component that is not directly or indirectly to decrypting paid channels.

Are you still on this site, please I want to have your number
@Daniel: my email address is info @ lemmymorgan.com
How much is 4 meter dish with the Jack and can you help get it
@Oyeyebi Oyetunde: Of course i can help you procure one. Please send your order to info @ lemmymorgan.comhttps://www.lemmymorgan.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php?comment_status=moderated#comments-form
I will prefer 4 meter aluminum mesh with polar mount.
@Oyeyebi: I doubt if that would be of any meaningful use. Go with pan or fibre
OK, what would 4 or 5 meter pan cost. Mind that I want it on polar stand which can me it rotates.
@Oyeyebi: send me an email sir
Can I get 3meter dish from u
@Olawale: yes. but it depends on your location
Do the Qsat 28g decoders still support cccam accounts. if so, is there any new software for this to connect
@Pastor: all qsat decoders have always supported card sharing out of the box. You do not need any special software to make this work
@ Lemmy, thank you very much 4 the intervention but I have a few questions
1. Am based in Ghana and my interest has always been to receive Beinsports on their new Sat 25.5E Es’hail so that I can arrange to get their official decoder and use it or alternatively, hotbird and hispasat etc so ? is, which of the dish sizes will do 4 these sats esp Bein ?
2. Is it advisable to motorize such big fibre dishes ? coz I learnt that, for all intents and purposes, it is designed to track 1 satellite at a time and not to be moved around by motor coz of the heaviness of it. True ?
3. Try and raise an article on the dish sizes aforementioned and the various satellites they could possibly nail successfully to give us some ideas. Thank you very much
@ruchyboo : to answer all your questions, you need to read just one article on this site. http://www.lemmymorgan.com/predetermine-the-size-of-dish-to-be-used-for-any-satellite-other-terms/
Comment *thanks 4 the info given, but you’ve never mention where we can get such BUD esp here in Nigeria cos some of us are interested but can’t know where to find it.
@sam hwande: “please read through the article very carefully, everything has been explained in it
you are not mention either your dish is local or foreign made.
@abba: I have a foreign made segmented 3 meters dish pan. Then we have the locally made fibre glass dish
Good day prof lemmy, what is the importance of powervu software, I just bought a new strong decoder, is it a must that I download it, pls, I am a newbie
@someone: there is no direct relationship between a PowerVu software and strong decoders. In fact, the makers of strong decoders doesn’t release powervu software. So please go ahead and use your string decoder for the purposes for which you bought it if you are unclear about its uses. Please ask the seller.
What is the different between iks account and cccam account and the significant of using them ?
Good morning, well done pls what is the different between cccam account and iks account and what is the significant of using them
@george: a cccam account is a type of iks
