This might be what all powervu lovers in Africa and beyond have been waiting for. FInally, I can say the moment is here. What started like a rumour some weeks ago is gradually turning into reality. Sports 24 HD(MTN worldwide) has been found by a group of powervu geeks in the satuniverse forum. I can say, we now have Sports 24 HD back via powervu emulator. Don’t let me bore you with the details about what sports 24 HD is or is not. We already have more than enough articles on this site that address that. The articles here are alway comprehensive and simple.
Must read: What is PowerVU technology?what is powervu
The group discovers this on Saturday the 9th of September 2017 after some lingering rumours running into days. I did further research on this and I realised that it is true. MTN WORLDWIDE(esp sports 24 HD) had a massive upgrade some months back that rendered all emulators being used to watch their channels obsolete. They did not actually change their encryption as it is widely believed. They had to do something when there was constant pressure on them by pay-TV operators as regards EPL and UCL matches. The only official powervu decoder is the Cisco series and it is not available for Africans. Prior to this upgrade.
After trying their hands of several countermeasures which failed, the last upgrade had a huge impact. the impact is that all EMM keys are no longer able to decrypt the EMM messages. There’s another step that needs to be taken before the EMM message would now reveal an ECM key. The only speculation I can make from this is that the original Powervu decoder by MTN Worldwide received a firmware upgrade which is now able to handle additional EMM decryption before sending it to the ISE for final decryption.
HOW DID THE BREAKTHROUGH ON MTN WORLDWIDE ARRIVE
Firstly, kudos goes to the guys at the satuniverse forum for this. I will not disclose names here for security reasons. The developers have come with the right software to continue extracting ECM keys from EMM data stream. The developer of the software uses two methods to achieve this
They use a kind of preprocessing of the received ECM’s and EMM’s to convert them to normal ones.
The post-processing of the final DCW keys.
The only let down is that this is not yet available i Oscam(enigma2 can use this) or Softcam(used by a wider range of decoders). For now, the solution works only with DVB/PCI cards.
The software is in form of a standalone emulator that is currently through DVB/PCI cards some pc media players. The list of the media viewers that the emulator currently supports include; DVB-Viewer-Pro, DVB-Dream, SmartDVB, TSReader and ProgDVB. You need to download an additional pc file that will serve as the codec filter. If you do not download this software, you may have a poor visual or loss of audio. I will not release the emulator here now two reasons; 1. There is hope that this emulator will soon be available for all the various powervu decoders we have around and 2. I will not link to or release a software that I know that is still in the final stages.
Contrary to expectations, the solution is not China. The emulator comes with a simple to read and understand the read me file and change log. You can get the configuration from it.
We now have Sports 24 HD back via powervu emulator-How can I start using it?
Sincerely, at this stage, I will advise all of us to hold on. The software/emulator can only work if you have a PCI card for your pc. see a picture of the image below to know how a DVB/PCI card looks like.
You will need to buy this pieces of hardware and also buy the player for your computer before you can use the emulator. The emulator currently works like a low-data consuming media streaming player. If you do not have the TV card for your pc, you are out of luck.
You need the same credentials as before. You need to position your dish to any of the MTN world wide position that is working best for you. for example in western African countries, you need to use a 1.8meter dish to track the channels with the following details:
Name; Intelsat 903
Degree/ position: 34.5W C
TP: 4132 V 30000
- You need an internet connection your pc for this to work. This will not consume your data as much as 1/3 of that of a typical IPTV box. You only need this to roll the keys and afterwards, you can watch without any hassle.
- Also, make sure you already own a DVB/ PCI Card for your computer. s you can see, it has LNB in and OUT like normal decoders
- You will need to have at least one of the supported viewers listed above
- Download the emulator from the developer’s forum and follow the enclosed instruction to install
- Tips on the configuration. For example: For DVBDream player:
– Copy its .dll, .ini & Softcam.Key files to the `Modules` folder of the DVBDream. Then change the extension of the .dll file to .mod.
SUMMARY AND FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
As you can see, this is just a post that gives hope on the immediate status of sport 24 HD. It is possible that this last longer than we expect, at the same time, it may be blocked before you know it. The current stage is for geeks and installer. As for the end users, let us wait a while if nothing is forthcoming, then you can take further actions. It also noteworthy that the cost of any good PCI card ranges between $72 to 900usd. It may worth the wait as am sure all the manufacturers of the various powervu decoders out there will want to get this working on their boxes.
Finally, don’t because of this change your mind from buying a big dish to buying a smaller one. A small dish limits you while the bigger ones expose you to wider opportunities. I will sign out now to be back with more updates about this. Though we have Sports 24 HD back via powervu emulator, there is still need to be a bit cautious at this point in time
