This is a sequel post to my first post here (on how to create a stock firmware for your Xperia phones). It is time to learn how to root Sony Xperia acro devices. In this particular post, I shall take you through the easiest process of rooting SONY XPERIA ACRO HD SOI12 / SONY XPERIA ACRO HD SO-03D & SONY XPERIA ACRO S. In case you must know, SONY XPERIA ACRO HD SO03D is the Japanese Variant Of the Global variant SONY XPERIA ACRO S combine and they have the same specifications . I’ve rooted my Acro HD SO-03D successfully.
What You Will Need:
- Rooting kit: http://www.mediafire.com/?o1v2o6afuoc1w33
- Download Flashtool 0.9.24.1 for Xperia XZ1, XZ1 Compact, XZ Premium
- Download the Acro HD (SO-03D) 2.3.7 files 2.3.7 file (SO-03D_6.0.A.5.12_Docomo): http://forum.xda-developers.com/show….php?t=1710051
- Also, download The Acro S 4.0.4 file: Mirror 1
- Lastly, download Rootingkit1.0.2 or Rooting kit: http://www.mediafire.com/?o1v2o6afuoc1w33

Pre-requisites:
(1) Application Settings: [Unknown sources] checked {Allowed}
(2) Application Settings: Development [USB debugging] checked {Allowed}
(3) Application Settings: Development [Stay awake] checked {Allowed}
(4) Settings -> Display settings [Screen timeout] Set to 30 minutes
*If your screen goes off just once then you won’t be able to return to the installation properly. Very important!!
Please think about your battery and try to keep the display brightness to a minimum.
(5) Please use a regular picture for the background. Do not use the default live wallpaper.
(6) Charge the Xperia acro’s battery to 80%.
Procedures on How to Root Sony Xperia Acro S, Acro SO 03D and Acro S0112
- Turn off the Acro S then put sony Xperia in download mode
- Prepare to flash the 2.3.7 file (SO-03D_6.0.A.5.12_Docomo): check all of the Wipe columns, uncheck the rest but check the last option which is No final verification.
- Next, Plug in the Acro S while holding the volume down. Wait for the flashing to be completed and close Flashtool(this is because flashtool and batch executable files don’t s agree)
A quick notice to all sony acro hd so-03d and soi12 users, you need to download and install
*As a counter measure to prevent Android. core.process from stopping unexpectedly please install Lightning launcher from the Google PLAY store
- Turn on the Acro S. Connect it to the computer via USB with USB debugging mode on.
- Run step1.bat
- Flash 4.0.4 files using Flashtool, don’t wipe anything, also check no final verification. Close flashtool after finished (Besides, for sony Xperia acro hd s0l12 and sony xperia acro hd so-03d pls only mark the following under exclude baseband, exclude fota, exclude partition otherwise you will brick your phone. this doesn’t apply to the acro S).
- Turn on the Acro S. Connect it via USB.
- Run Step2.bat
- You should get a lot of messages like “pushing SuperSU” and even unimportant errors and the phone will reboot during this process.
- Enjoy full root
