This particular event reminds me of iPhone, 3G, 3GS and 4. These set of apple device, back in the day are usually locked to the carrier in the country where it was purchased. You can only use it after doing a factory unlock or unlocking through a jailbreak. Similarly, a bug in google android 4.1.2 jellybean has caused the mobile network on some phones to go off after upgrading to android os version 4.1.2. It happened to my galaxy s3. If you are experiencing this and you are sure that your phone is not carrier locked, this guide will teach you how to restore lost network on android 4.1.2.
How I lost my Mobile Network after Upgrading my Phone to Android v4.1.2 ICS
Similar to the iPhone case in my introduction, some android phones can also lose their network service after upgrading to Jellybean. This especially happened to my Samsung galaxy s3 GT-i9300 which is a global variant. It came with the annoying ICS and i try and upgrade this to Android 4.1.2 official jellybean.
Although the upgrade process went very smoothly, however, when I reboot my phone, Alas! I got no service. This simpler terms, means I cannot make or receive a call, I can’t use Bluetooth and I can’t use wifi. Summarily, i couldn’t use anything related to connectivity.
As a corrective measure, I downgraded the firmware back to the original ICS but still, no luck i was so frustrated until I found a solution which solved my problem 85%. I was able to restore the mobile network, and partially restore WiFi, However, I couldn’t use my Bluetooth. I was so happy that at least I can use my phone for what is primarily meant for. Let me share with you how I did this.
Disclaimer & Warning!
This guide has been proven and tested to be working for Samsung Galaxy s3. So, i can only vouch for that. Although I used it successfully on a friend’s HTC. That notwithstanding, use it on non-Samsung phones at your own risk. Trying using this tutorial in any other Android device May result in unpleasant outcomes of which am not liable.

I once experienced loss of mobile network after updating my Samsung Galaxy S2 to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 Android firmware, what I simply did to restore the network was wipe data/factory reset the phone. Though I lost my apps but I restored them with super backup.
