Discover the Various Types of Accounts Available for Opening on Amazon.
- Buying/personal/regular Amazon account: The most notable benefit of Amazon’s regular account is that you can also become a Prime member. If you plan to use Amazon regularly, you should honestly consider subscribing to Prime (with all its benefits).
You can have as many ‘Buyer’ accounts as you want(As long as none of them has previously been closed by Amazon). However, you can only have 1 ‘Seller’ account per household. A second ‘Seller’ account requires pre-approval by Amazon.
- Amazon seller account: First, you can have only one selling account on Amazon. Since 2000, Selling on Amazon has been helping individuals and businesses increase sales and reach new customers. Over 40% of Amazon’s total unit sales today come from third-party selection. Additionally, you can either sell as an individual or as a professional. Each has its benefits.
- Amazon student account
- Kindle Account:
- Amazon Associate/Affiliate Account: When you have this, you earn commissions by directing people to buy on Amazon. You can be an Amazon affiliate without being a seller or buyer on the Amazon website. Amazon Associates is one of the first online affiliate marketing programs and was launched in 1996. The Amazon Associates program has a more than 12-year track record of developing solutions to help website owners, Web developers, and Amazon sellers make money by advertising millions of new and used products from Amazon.com and its subsidiaries.
- Amazon Business Registration
- Amazon Web Services: Whether you’re looking for computing power, database storage, content delivery, or other functionality, AWS can help you build sophisticated applications with increased flexibility, scalability, and reliability.
The Distinction Between Amazon Accounts for Sellers and Buyers.
Everyone who has ever purchased anything from Amazon has a Buyer account. Anyone of those accounts is potentially a Seller account if they decide to press the “Sell Yours Here” button. Hence, becoming an Amazon seller is pretty straightforward. After a Buyer presses Sell Yours, they have to fill out the Banking Information on the seller side of their account to get paid, and they have to input valid Credit Card information again on the Seller Side of their account, even if they have valid Credit Card on file in their Buyer account.
They must also fill out Tax-related information in their Seller account, which Amazon then sends to IRS for verification. That is not needed for buyers, of course.
Another difference is that because Seller accounts receive money from Amazon through sales, they are regulated more closely than Buyer accounts.
Finally, an individual can set up as many Buyer accounts as there are email addresses. However, only one Seller account is allowed per household.
My tips will work for you even when you have gotten to a stage whereby Amazon account specialists no longer give any useful response to your emails. Or maybe when you call Amazon, the CS couldn’t help. All you need to do for this to benefit you is for you not to be an actual wrongdoer. If you know you have deliberately perpetrated fraud; your chances are slim. If you made a mistake, this might still help. Lastly, if you can’t even see your fault or feel you have done nothing wrong, this will help you.

What is Amazon Account Suspension?
In layman’s language, Amazon account closing/suspension is a situation whereby Amazon closes a customer’s(be it a buyer or a seller) account either on request or as a result of a policy violation/ Now, if you request Amazon to close your account, you are safe and free to come back to the community anytime you deem fit.
On the contrary, if you receive an account closure message from Amazon informing you that you have been banned because you have committed an offense, you must take action if you ever want to regain your account. The latter reason is the essence of this post. How to “Reinstate Amazon Buyer Account.”
What Happens When Your Amazon Account is Suspended or Closed?
Once your Amazon account is After your account is closed on your request, it is no longer accessible by you or anyone else. This includes any Seller, Mechanical Turk, Associates, Amazon Web Services, Author Central, Kindle Direct Publishing, or Amazon Pay accounts associated with your purchasing account. If you ever want to use Amazon in the future, or if you’d like to use website features that require a password, you would need to start a new account.
Conversely, if Amazon suspends your account, you cannot re-open another account with your details. Otherwise, that would also be suspended. My best advice is to appeal for a reopening of your suspended account, and you should get it back if you haven’t done something very bad.
Once your account is closed, it’s no longer accessible to anyone. Keep in mind:
- If Amazon closes your account, they will cancel your other benefits. You will also lose your Amazon balance if you are accused of fraud.
- In your best interest, don’t open another account in your name, as any order you place may be delayed, and your customer experience may be adversely affected.
- You won’t have access to other websites using your Amazon.com log-in (Audible.com, accounts at international Amazon sites (co.uk/.fr/.de/.es/.ca/.in/.au/.com.br/.nl/.it/.com.mx) except for Amazon.cn and Amazon.co.jp, etc.)
- In addition, you won’t have access to digital content related to Amazon Music, Amazon Drive and/or Prime Photos, or your Amazon Appstore purchases.
- You won’t have access to your customer profile, including your reviews, discussion posts, and images.
- You won’t have access to your account history (including credit card information, order history, etc.)
- Returns and refunds can’t be processed for orders on closed accounts (including textbook rentals)
- You won’t have access to the funds if you have a remaining Amazon.com Gift Card or promotional credit balance. Read more about closing your account here
Learn How to Determine if Your Amazon Buyer Account Has Been Closed.
Lest I forget, I am an Amazon buyer account holder. I buy and never sell. Also, it might interest you that I am not a USA resident. My account was closed in early September, and I went through hell getting it reinstated. Now let me share the indicators/features of a suspended Amazon account.
- You will most likely receive an email from Amazon notifying you of your account suspension. This email will clearly state why they take such action. Interestingly, the email will not tell you what to do. They won’t ask you to appeal or advise you on how to go about the appeal.
- If Amazon closes your account, you cannot log in to the Amazon website on a desktop or mobile browser. However, for a limited period, you may still be logged in to your Amazon App.
- To compound your login problems, no matter how often you try resetting your password, it won’t just work.
- For those still logged into their mobile app, even if you manage to place an order, it will be automatically canceled within 10 minutes.
Conditions for Possible Reopening of Suspended Amazon Accounts
Here are the conditions that must be met for an Amazon account that has been suspended to be considered for reopening.
- If you have been an old obedient, and compliant Amazon customer before this recent development, there is a high chance that my tips will help you.
- Secondly, you will most likely regain your account if you are not guilty.
- Furthermore, if you haven’t already sent an ill-composed/rude email to Amazon’s highest hierarchy, you will find joy in my tips.
- If you have everything at your disposal to proof your innocence or to prove that Amazon has made a mistake, then this will be easy for you.
Why Would Amazon Suspend/Close Customers Accounts?
No matter what kind of account(s) you hold with them, the reasons for suspension or termination remain consistent: suspected violation of their policies.
Sadly, I’m afraid I have to disagree that every one of these accounts has been justifiably closed. At the same time, I think there are motives behind the closure. Amazon is swaying to AI for most of its operations. Therefore, many activities are automated. What I think they did was set filters and triggers.
Unfortunately, machine learning is not yet perfect. As a result, there are bound to be mistakes. Regrettably, several customers mishandle their situation and encounter issues with Amazon. You can read more about Amazon customers’ responses to account closing here. According to research, below are some of the reasons why Amazon may suspend a customer’s buyer’s account:
Note: there are two types of Amazon account suspension. 1. The soft suspension: (The process has been initiated for the customer to verify their details again.) and 2. A rigid suspension: Amazon understands that you have erred when this happens. A soft suspension can lead to permanent account termination. For example, your account may be closed if you are asked to verify your billing address and can’t do so. The same applies to anyone who supplies fraudulent billing information during re-verification.
Reasons for Amazon Account Suspension
- Amazon suspects some countries of being fraudulent. First on this list of this country is Nigeria. I also learned that Indians and China are not spared. If you are in any of the countries mentioned above, please don’t buy any high-end electronics(especially phones) with a gift card. Amazon will suspend your account without remorse.
- Amazon is using more of a machine to detect fraudulent activities. These machines are bound to make little mistakes here and there occasionally. These mistakes are rare, and they can be corrected when you contact them. Artificial intelligence utilized by Amazon dwells on metrics already put in place. This will, in turn, trigger the termination of your account pending further review.
- Things neglected can also cost us our Amazon account. For example, Incomplete personal info on your account. This can be very costly. Please make your information is accurate and verifiable.
- Incorrect personal info on your Amazon account: If you do this deliberately, you can also say goodbye to your account when you receive that email from Amazon. However, if you do it due to negligence, my tips will help you. y
- Mismatched information. E.g., the name on your credit card differs from your billing address.
- High volume/denomination gift card balance. This is one of their newest triggers. You must explain how you come about such a balance if you want to get your account back. (if this is legit, you have a chance with my trick)
- Often, untrusted gift card sellers would report a gift card already sold to you as stolen. When this happens, Amazon will refund the claimant and block your account. Previously, they will deduct the value of the invalid card and release the remainder to you. This is no longer true, so please stay off invalid gift card sources.
- Suppose you already have an Amazon account that has been suspended, and you went ahead to open another one using a different email. In that case, you can use this account for a while, but eventually, Amazon will know and close your account. If you already have a suspended account that can’t be reopened, please don’t open another one with your details. A word is enough. Amazon will log your device, mobile number, name, email, and IP address. You will have to change all of this before you can beat them.
- Stop modifying or changing billing and shipping addresses Arbitrarily. And Don’t add too many addresses with names and locations to your account.
- If you must change your billing address, please maintain your existing billing name and phone number or contact their support for help before you do this.
- Also, it would be best if you were consistent with the location and IP address you use to sign in to your Amazon account.
- Beware of placing orders for multiple expensive gadgets. Amazon can suspend your account if you use your account as a business one. Noteworthy, Amazon has a platform for those who want to buy for business. Buying multiple phones repeatedly with a gift card is now a trigger.
- Another remote cause that triggers Amazon to close your account is when you load high-denomination gift cards and immediately use everything to check out.
- Suffice it to say you will be banned if you perpetrate credit card or gift card fraud. Don’t use a gift card you won on a promo site or the one you bought with BTC. Similarly, don’t use a hacked credit card, a stolen one, or a virtual cc on your Amazon account.
- Amazon is simply doing a clean-up of those abusing their usage policy. Especially gift card usage policy

Sample Amazon’s Account Closure Notification email!
Every email that has to do with your account security or closure will come from address-verification@amazon.com, and it will have an “Account Specialist” as its signature. Amazon can lose your account for a variety of reasons. The most typical reasons are provided below.
Note: there is a difference between Amazon’s “account locked” and Amazon’s account that is closed. Your account is locked for security; you only need to contact them, and you can reopen it together. However, If your account is closed by Amazon, it implies that Amazon thinks you have violated their policy. It is more strenuous to recover than a mere account that is locked. You receive the account locked error when attempting to sign in to a locked Amazon account. However, when your account is closed, you get the “incorrect password message when trying to log in.”

How to Avoid Amazon Account Suspension/Closure
First, No matter how hard you try, amazon can still close your account arbitrarily. The policy is even harsher in certain countries, such as Nigeria, due to the high rate of scams and fraud.
Notwithstanding, these tips apply only to Amazon’s accounts for sellers. You can reduce the chances of Amazon closing your account if you do the followings:
1. Don’t Shop for Phones, laptops, or other High-end Devices with a Gift Card
Suppose you use a gift card to shop for high-end electronics like iPhones. In that case, there is no way you can ultimately avoid account suspension, primarily if you reside in such countries as India, China, Nigeria, Philippines.
2. You can Use Amazon Services from other Countries instead of the USA
Open and use Amazon. In the UK, if you know, you want to use valid gift cards to make purchases. This works fine now, but you don’t know when they will go on the offensive.
3. Use your Credit/Debit Card to buy Costly Electronic Devices While you Use Gift Cards for cheap non-electronic Items
As a rule of thumb, if you want to avoid Amazon account suspension while using gift cards to shop, then you must not be fond of buying phones or high-end devices with your gift cards. Alternatively, when you want to buy electronics, use your credit card/atm to buy it. Even if your account is banned when using your ATM, your bank will help you get back your money.
4. Contact Amazon support via chat if you want to perform any action unsure of its consequences.
5. Upgrade to an Amazon Business Account
Upgrade your personal Amazon buyer’s account into an Amazon business account if you know you will often shop on Amazon. In addition, you can’t rely on Amazon’s business account any longer if you operate it from Nigeria. I will advise you to ask your contact in the USA to help you open and manage it. Amazon still fears USA residents because they know they can sue them for damages if they close their accounts unjustly.
6. Use the Fastest shipping available if you are not an Amazon Prime member
This way, even if your account is suspended, your items might have shipped. Also, don’t buy any item shipped by Amazon if you want to risk buying with gift cards and avoiding suspension
7. Fill Every one of your Details Correctly when Registering Your Amazon Account
When signing up for a new Amazon account, ensure you fill in everything correctly and appropriately.
8. Don’t hurriedly attach your credit card. Take your time to attach the appropriate one
9. Avoid Storing/Accumulating Amazon Gift Card
Only use a gift card on checkout (don’t “bank” any gift card balances, or if you do “bank,” do it with a low amount)
10. Avoid using a prepaid credit card or a virtual credit card.
Another way to get your Amazon account suspended pretty fast is to use a virtual or prepaid credit card to purchase items on their site. they clearly stated that this is not allowed in their terms and conditions
11. Cancel your Order if your Payment Does not Clear Within 5 hours
If you buy with your Gift card balance, always check your “Gift card balance and activity”. Take note of the following: If you see the pending status as pending after 5 minutes of placing the order(s), set your stopwatch to 27 minutes and check back. The truth is that all other things being equal, your gift card balance shouldn’t be pending after 30 minutes. In the worst-case scenario, it must be cleared within 6 hours. Please cancel your order(s) if there is still a pending flag on your gift card balance after 5 hours. Then try again in a few days.
12. Too Many Shipping Addresses All at Once is Not Cool
Furthermore, avoid attaching different shipping addresses with different names and phone numbers. This may trigger their system, and you may be flagged for trying to use a personal account for business.
13. Consistent Purchases on Amazon are Recommended
Please be consistent with your buying behavior. Increase your purchasing power gradually as against exponentially. E.g if you have been ordering… 20usd to 100. Don’t just jump to $2000 suddenly.
14. Don’t buy Expensive electronic devices too frequently
First off, this part is self-explanatory. Reframe from the urge to buy flagship high-end electronic devices with your buyer account. For example, if you buy a galaxy s7 device, followed closely by a galaxy s20 phone, you may be suspended if the time interval is too short.
15. Avoid Ordering the same items in large Quantities with your Account
Don’t do anything that will strike Amazon like you are buying for reselling. For example, don’t order the same items from the same seller in multiple quantities. This is risky, especially if we are dealing with phones.
Also, avoid buying more than three high-end electronic devices within 30 days, even with your card.
16. Don’t redeem high-denomination Gift Cards to your Amazon Account
Slow and steady wins the race. Don’t load high denominations gift cards in quick succession, even if they are legit.
17. Don’t Use Someone Else’s Credit Card to Shop on Amazon
In addition, use only your credit card. Don’t use someone else’s card. Make sure the cc on your acc bears your details. Gone are d days when you can use your relative’s cc.
18. Don’t Renew any Amazon Services if you don’t have enough funds on your Card
Also, before renewing any of your subscriptions like Amazon Kindle, Amazon Prime, and so on, ensure you have funds on the credit card on your account.
19. Don’t Ship to Anyone with a Suspended Amazon Account
If anyone directly or indirectly related to you has a closed account, please don’t ship to such a name or address.
20. Don’t log in from suspicious locations
Finally, to secure your Amazon account and avoid suspension, you shouldn’t log in to your Amazon account from a suspicious location.
21. If you are In Certain Countries, Forget About Using Giftcard
Some countries, such as Nigeria, Ghana, and others, have been tagged “high-risk” countries. Therefore, if you are from Nigeria, forget about using gift cards to purchase items on amazon.com. You may be lucky with UK or Germany Amazon, though.
Reinstate Amazon’s Buyer Account That was Closed By Amazon the Easiest Way
I don’t know what triggers Amazon to close my account. Whatever the case may be, I was very sure that I didn’t do anything wrong. However, I remembered that it was about time they wanted to charge my card for the Prime subscription. I didn’t have funds in my account, so maybe that was why they felt the credit card was invalid. Also, at the same time, I added a new shipping address. It is all very complicated, so I have taken my time to develop this post.
Things to avoid when Contacting Amazon to open your account
- Please make no mistake of ignoring the content of their first email to you.
- Also, don’t trivialize things or take things for granted. I did this, and that was what complicated things for me.
- To add to the above, ensure you don’t supply an illegible document. In the same way, you should avoid altering the document you are sending to Amazon.
- Also, follow their instructions to the letter. If they ask you to provide some docs via FAX, please don’t send them via email. Disobedience can be costly.
- Don’t give too few details: Ensure you provide everything they need for their investigation. If they say to provide proof of purchase of all gift cards, do exactly that.
- On no account should you say too much. Don’t provide information that they didn’t request.
- Be polite but firm. Rudeness is not an option here.
- Avoid been emotional
- Finally, please help them to help you through cooperative activity.
Here are the steps to follow to reinstate a suspended Amazon Personal/buyer account:
The first and most crucial step is for you to be composed. Don’t panic. I know it feels like you should see Jeff Bezos and shoot him in the toe. Please don’t be restless; You can take time off to calm down. When you are fully ready, use the following steps to reply to them. For emphasis, this will work if you have not done something terrible.
- Reply to their “account suspension notification email” and tell them they have made a mistake by closing your account, and you are unhappy. Tell them that what they claimed you have done is untrue, and you can prove it. On a good day, you will get a reply from them within a few hours. Maximum of 48 hours.
- They would likely ask you to provide sensitive documents like a “Card statement(credit card statement as opposed to your usual bank statement). In most cases, they will also ask for your gift card receipt or proof that you have legitimately purchased or been gifted the gift cards. You will be asked to fax this. Please don’t send it via email. Look for a free fax website or mobile app if you can’t afford to pay for a fax subscription. I mistakenly sent it via email instead of fax, and it was ignored.
- If your case is not serious, within 48 hours, Amazon will reopen your account. If this is not the case, call them. You can find their customer care phone number here. Ask to speak to an account manager/supervisor, then tell him/her courteously that your account was closed and you have provided the verification documents via fax. In 95% of most trivial cases, your account will be opened during the first call. If not, read the next tip.
- Some cases could be so severe that it requires further investigation. Give them three more days and call again.
- Now, at this point, you should be off the hook. If your account is still however closed, unfortunately, it means you are in bigger trouble than you think. Maybe along the line, you committed more offenses with your mouth, or Amazon opened more cankerworms about your account during their investigation. By now, you must have entered the Amazon account specialist message loop. By this, I mean account specialists have repeatedly sent you the same automated messages. Even if you place an order via the app, it will get canceled, and you will receive an autoresponder.
What to do when Amazon Account Specialists refuse to Reopen/Reinstate/ your Account
If your case with Amazon is complicated, you will surely realize that the regular support will not be able to reinstate your account. Luckily for you, there is still a lifeline. You can contact the executives of Amazon, including the founder Jeff Bezos. But wait, you wouldn’t want to rush the executives as any mistake here would ruin your chance. Before I give you tips on what to tell Amazon executives when contacting them, let me quickly ask you these questions; if you can answer them correctly, you will succeed.
How to prepare before sending a message to Andy Jassy to reopen your account
- Do you know what triggered your account closure? In my case, I would say I changed my address, and my credit card was without funds. I knew I would be pardoned for these mistakes, but alas, I got things complicated for myself while contacting customer care. I sent the document via email instead of Fax.
- Accept that you have done something wrong, even if you don’t know it.
- Are you innocent? No one that Amazon blocks his or her account is innocent. However, your offense is pardonable if you have not deliberately violated their policy. Also, you still have a chance if you have not wronged them.
- How old is the account in question? My account is over three years old and has never been an issue. You can’t compare the attention I will receive with someone with a 1-year-old account, let alone a week-old one.
- What transpires when you contact an Amazon account specialist that made them not open your account? Take a deep breath and think. Did you insult them? Have you lied or altered anything? I am afraid if you had altered/forged a document, I would say you have close to zero chances.
- What about your details? Is there any mismatch in your billing name and address? If yes, do you have documents that can be used to rectify this?
- Are you sure you have gone through the usual channels(of calling customer service and emailing acc specialist)? Amazon executives would not take you seriously if you haven’t tried to solve your problem via their normal channels before contacting them.
- How healthy is your account? Have you been banned multiple times in the past? If yes, your chances will be slimmer than a first-time offender.
- Do you have every document that you can use to prove your innocence handy? Such documents include your “gift card receipt(to increase your chances + plus the actual card”, your bank statement, your credit card statement, your utility bill(they hardly ask for this), and finally, the mobile number registered to your account.
- Finally, I hope you are in the right frame of mind to write a long and detailed message.
Things to Include when Writing to Amazon Executive for an Appeal to restore your Account
Note: Sadly, amazon has blocked email access to almost all their executives except Andy Jassy and Jeff Bezos. In other words, if the account specialist can’t help you, only the CEO and Jeff Bezos can. I wish you the best of luck. If you are however from Nigeria or any country that is being targetted by amazon as being prone to fraud, you have a very slim chance of getting back your account.
Contacting the echelons at Amazon is the simplest and the most difficult thing for any Amazon subscriber. I will, however, make this easy for you. It is difficult because you must give your best and pray it is enough. Three things will set the tone for whether your appeal will be rejected or accepted.
- Your case: are you an unrepentant violator of their policy? If you ain’t, then your chances are high.
- Are you polite enough? Although Amazon is a formal organization, no one would tolerate abusive words. If you are abusive in your email to them, your email will be trashed. Your introduction matters a lot.
- Be detailed and avoid being emotional.

How to compose the letter/email that you want to send to Amazon Executives
If you get your acts right, you will receive the most anticipated message from Amazon. This message will herald the reopening of your account. It will be sent from no-reply@amazon.com, and the title will be ” Your Amazon Account has been reinstated.” There is a slim line between getting this email and not getting a response from Jeff or another executive.
Another mistake most customers make is trying to jump the hierarchy. Please contact them one after the other. Don’t go straight and email Mr. Jeff by skipping Mr. Douglas Herrington. Secondly, allow at least one week between messages before contacting the next executive. If you want a successful email like mine(shown below), please follow the tips on what to write in your message to Amazon’s executives below:
Write an appealing introduction.
As I said, you need to be polite and professional with your messages. Let that professionalism resonate through your message; start with a Salutation. Dear Sir, Dear Mr. Douglas Herrington,
In your introduction, briefly discuss how much you have enjoyed being a part of the Amazon community as a buyer/seller. Proceed to praise their efforts in trying to sanitize the platform.
What to write in the body of your message to Andy Jassy
- Briefly hight the problem at hand. Give vivid details of order numbers, dates, and times (You can get your order numbers through email). Highlight the events in the order by which they occurred. At this point, draw their attention to the fact that you have tried to resolve this through their normal channels to no avail. Attach every document you already faxed to this email.
- State and Accept your mistake if you already know it. If not, let them know that you don’t think you have done anything wrong and that it is their mistake. Don’t forget to add that if you are wrong, it is unintentional, and you plead for leniency/pardon. Please don’t be defensive.
- Proceed to tell them that you are willing to cooperate with them in their investigation if the existing info is insufficient.
- Finally, conclude by saying that you are awaiting a favorable response. Noteworthy, if you have a valid Amazon balance or returns on the way, say this here so that you can at least have your money back if you can’t get your account back.
What are my next steps if my Appeal to Reinstate My Account is Rejected?
Not all appeal for the reinstatement of an Amazon account is successful. However, if this is your case, there are steps you can’t take. These steps will not force Amazon to reopen your account but will help you get your trapped funds/order back.
- Sometimes, you may be guilty of using an account related to one Amazon has closed. Your appeal to restore your account may be rejected in such a situation. If this is the case, you can sure get a refund. If Amazon blatantly refuses to refund you, you can file a lawsuit in a court of small claims through your state’s attorney general. Sadly, this option applies only to USA residents. Mind you, all in all; Amazon has the power t refuse any compensation as it is in their terms that they can close any account at will.
- Secondly, you can file a complaint through https://bbb.org. This website has helped many Amazon customers regain their legitimate funds and, in most cases, have their accounts reinstated; You can also give this a shot.
In conclusion, Amazon is not a bad company; many speculations about them are untrue. They want you to use their service in compliance with their terms and conditions. Best of luck as you try to Reinstate your Amazon Buyer Account.
How to Open A New Amazon Buyer/Personal/Business/Seller Account Without Traces
Now let’s imagine you can’t get your old Amazon account back, but you want to open another one. I am sorry, but opening new Amazon accounts is not so easy. If you open a new one by merely changing your email, the system will detect you and suspend your new account. Below are the requirements for successfully opening a new Amazon account that can never be traced or linked back to the one Amazon suspended.
Get a New Device: phone or pc
This depends on the device you were using on the suspended account. Once Amazon suspends an account, they log your device’s serial on their database. Any time you use the same device, their system will recognize and link. you need a new phone. If you want to use a pc and you don’t want to buy a new one, you can partition your existing PC and use a different user account.
Get A new Internet.
You must change your IP address to have a chance. As for me, I usually change my sim card from one network provider to another on a new phone. It is also vital that if you are using wifi, don’t use the same WiFi connection as the one with the suspended account.
Don’t Use the Same Billing Name and Address
Amazon is good with address verification. You can’t escape their wrath if you attempt to use any elements of your billing name address on the old account with your new account.
Don’t Use A Debit/Credit Card From a Closed Account
Please don’t just try to do this. Their system can extract the address on each card on file on Amazon. Changing the name on the card will not help you. Just make sure you use a different card from the one you used on the blocked account. Need I say that you should also use the current name on the card?
Make sure you use a different Shipping Address or tweak the existing one
Amazon system can pick the name and phone number on your shipping address on your old account and use it to link to the new one you are trying to open. To avoid this, change at least the name and phone number on all the shipping addresses you used on your suspended account which you plan to use on the new one.
- Don’t make the mistake of using the same phone number
- Finally, don’t use any email address that has been closed and used on Amazon. For example, if you once opened an Amazon account and asked Amazon to help you close it, don’t use such an email for a new account.
- Seller and Business Account Owners should Avoid using the same EIN/ITIN/SNN when opening another seller or business account.

I have had my account closed/restricted to digital purchases below is the response I received from ofm@amazon.com. I only have ever had one account and they wont give me any information on what account made the violation. They haven’t asked for any information and I have never asked for refunds on my account. I only ever had one item replaced that was lost in shipping after they sent me an email saying they lost it.
“We closely examined your account and we did not find unauthorized activity on it.
We have closed your Amazon.com account. We took this action because our records show that we closed another account of yours for not meeting the terms of our Conditions of Use. When we close your account for violating the terms of this agreement, you cannot open a new account or use another account to place orders from our store.
Why we are writing?
You have requested refunds for multiple orders where the refund and replacement was in violation of our Conditions of Use.
“
@Ben, i am sorry, but they have closed your account because someone linked to your name, billing address or Isp has violated their terms. It doesn’t have to be you who committed the offense.
Hi Lemmy,
Thanks for your information!
I used my wife account to made my 1st order with my debit card, then Amazon hold the order (just $30 e gift card) ask me to submit document to prove the card ownership. But I click “NO” then, after 1 mins I got closed email and the reason is “We have closed your Amazon account because we were not able to confirm that you are authorized to use the payment method associated with your account.”
Then, I try to use my personal one with same Visa card, same situation happened, and after I submitted the document to proof the visa card ownership, they check a day but the personal one also closed by reason “relative account was closed by amazon”.
After I read your blog and follow your tips to send an appeal letter to primary@amazon.com to request my wife account restore (because I think if I am looking to restore my personal account, I need to unlock the initiate problem). A good news, they reopen the window and ask me to upload the document by sign in my wife Amazon account.
I did it, but their feedback is asking me upload again, “Thank you for your response. We have reviewed the information you provided but we were unable to verify ownership of your Visa payment ending in 1XXX because the document provided did not have the last 4 digits of the card used – please include an image of the card used with the name and only the last 4 digits visible, or an image of the supporting application in case of a virtual card. Your account is still temporarily on hold.”
Can you give me hints, before my next upload? The last uploaded statement have shown the Card last four nos., my name and address with some transactions. And I was also uploaded the wallet screenshot and take a picture to show the real card with some card details (the card front and back picture is merged by one jpg file), also uploaded my ID card. (same the ID card front and back was merged by a jpg file
So, my question is their team is it a bot check team, no human to read all details? If i only upload the same set of documents to them, do you think the team will closed my account again? Because I don’t have any others proof, all my uploaded document is good enough to prove the ownership.
It made me confused. Thanks for your advice!
Best Regards
Eric
@Eric: i will advise you to upload the documents individually without merging them.also, make sure you take a very clear picture of the documents you are submitting.
Thanks ! Can I highlight the the details such as my name and the cards numbers by the Abode reader tools?
@Eric: that would be a smart move
Hi Lenny, after my 2nd document uploaded, they insisted to close my account. It is funny why a company like that can develop to be the largest e-commerce company in the world? Would you please give me any tips for the next step? Or I don’t have next step to do.
I wish I read this earlier. I just lost $1200 in gift card I got from Kuda Bank, and they locked my account brutally. Anyway, it is what it is. Innocent ones suffer
@Davin: have you tried contacting them?
For the last 2 months I have been using $500 gift cards to buy electronics to resell. I did not realize this was against their terms of service. Yesterday they shut down my account. Is there any hope of them re-instating me if I acknowledge the ways I broke their terms, declare my ignorance, apologize, and ask for mercy? Or is my situation pretty much a guaranteed lifetime ban from Amazon?
@Mark: so long you are not a repeated offender, you still have a chance if your appeal is genuine
Thanks, Lemmy. One more question. Is Amazon always against buying things on their website in order to re-sell them? Or are they only against doing that with a consumer account? In other words, would it have been okay if I had used a business account? I am just trying to figure out what all to apologize for in my email to the executives.
@Mark: if you are using amazon giftcard, you are not supposed to buy anything to resell. This is because a gift card is a gift and a commerciaL ENITITY. However, if you are trying to use your bank card, and you want to buy in large quantities, please upgrade your account to amazon business and business prime account. You will be able to buy more and at discounted prices.
One more question. Is it always against Amazon’s policies to buy things in order to re-sell them? Or is it only wrong when doing it from a consumer account? I am just trying to identify exactly what to apologize for in my appeal letter. Thank you!
I have the exact same issue as you. Buyer and seller account linked and gift card to buy and sell at Amazon…Have you got any luck getting your buyer account released?
July 12 I received an email from ofm@amazon.com saying that my account will be closed. “ Our records show that we previously closed an account of yours for violating the terms of our Conditions of Use agreement.”
And this is the only account I ever had… I replay to the email but apparently I’m on a loop since I keep receiving the same email… they decided not to restore my full access to this account, but they didn’t let me explain or provide an action plan.
any tips?
@Maria: I am sorry but if you have only had an account, then someone is using the same name and address as you or the person is using same internet connection as yours
They told me that “As we informed you earlier, we have closed this account. We took this action because you consistently asked us to issue refunds for a large number of your orders. While we expect the occasional problem with an order, we cannot continue to issue refunds to you at this rate”
And the only time I ever ask for a refund was last year… so probably someone is using my information, the strange thing is that I’m from Costa Rica and I use a locker… and nothing rare shows in my credit card record or email… 🙁
I propose an action plan, send my bank statement, but still they didn’t what to help
So I continue with the next step, hope someone can help me because this is so unfair
@Maria: i looks so unfair but i am sorry,it is what it is. someone might be using your exact information and they link you to him. maybe a family or friend of yours.
Lemmy,
I have one more question. Since customer service was not helping me, I did contact BBB. Even after that contact my account remains on hold.
When I write to executives, should I mention about contacting BBB?
Thank you,
Mark
@Mark: BBB can help you get your stuck funds but can’t force amazon to reinstate your account. No court can actually.
Thank you Lemmy for this article.
Since account specialist is not able to help me, I am planning to write to executives. Can you please let me know current executive contact details in the order I need to contact?
@Mark: the contact details are already included in the article. Please try and fetch them
Hello,
We previously contacted you about multiple violations of our returns and refund policy. Since then, we have continued to notice violations of such policies on your account. We are writing to let you know that we have restricted your account to digital purchases only. We will automatically cancel all non-digital orders placed on Amazon.com and if you have been charged, a refund will be processed.
Note that your seller account is not impacted by this change.
If you would like to appeal this decision, reply to this email to reach an account specialist. Our customer service team can only confirm that we sent you this message and help you with any technical issues. They cannot reverse this decision or provide you with more details on this matter.
Account specialist
Amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com
I have only purchased one item in the last four years, using a gift card. No returns for any refunds.
The first time I contacted an account specialist, the customer service told me to wait 72 hours before placing an order. After placing the order, the order was automatically cancelled.
I contacted an account specialist for the second time and asked me to wait for 24 hours. I received an apology email and asked me to place an order again. After placing the order, the order was automatically canceled.
The third time I contacted an account specialist, they called me, because my English is not good, I chose online customer service. They said that the authorization process, let me continue to wait for 24 hours.
I rarely logged into the account in the past three years. I found that the credit card had expired. I don’t know if it’s the reason. I updated the date. Now I’m still waiting.
@betty: amazon don’t like it when you operate your account with an expired credit card
Because of the epidemic, I haven’t logged in for three or four years. I logged in this year and bought a pair of shoes, and then received an email from ofm a month later.
I have changed the date on the credit card.
I have contacted the account specialist many times, but the problem is still not resolved.
@betty: can you share the exact details of the email that amazon account specialist sent to you.
first email ————————-
We have closed this account because our records show that we closed another account of yours for not meeting the terms of our Conditions of Use agreement. When we close your account for violating the terms of an agreement, you cannot open a new account or use another account to place orders on our site.
If you had open orders on this account, those orders were canceled when we closed the account.
Any digital content that you purchased with this account is still available to you. To access the content, click the “Manage Your Content and Devices” link on the Your Orders menu on Amazon.com.
If you would like to appeal this decision, please reply to this email to reach an Account Specialist. Our Customer Service team can only confirm that we sent this message and help you with technical issues. They cannot reverse this decision or share more details on this matter.
second email ( ask why ) —————————–
We previously contacted you about multiple violations of our returns and refund policy. Since then, we have continued to notice violations of such policies on your account. We are writing to let you know that we have restricted your account to digital purchases only. We will automatically cancel all non-digital orders placed on Amazon.com and if you have been charged, a refund will be processed.
If you would like to appeal this decision, reply to this email to reach an account specialist. Our customer service team can only confirm that we sent you this message and help you with any technical issues. They cannot reverse this decision or provide you with more details on this matter.
————- I reply
The email said multiple returns and refunds. But I have not refunded or returned.
Can you provide the order information for the multiple refund returns you mentioned?
————- I haven’t received the email since I replied.
@betty: i am sorry about this. but look at the following possibilities
1. are you sharing your internet connection with someone?
2. do you share exact names with another amazon users/
3. do you give your friend/family your amazon account to make purchase?
4. do you share the same billing address as another amazon users.
If the answers to any of the above is yes and you didn’t return items personally, then, you are still liable.
In addition, even if you returns are all genuine but they are too frequently, amazon will still penalize you.(understandably so because they believe you should read reviews and feedbacks before buying items)
I think the reason may be my shipping address and billing address are not the same ( shipping address is transit company), and this behavior was misjudged by the system as account theft.
@betty: that is a very insightful discovery. you may be correct. you need to be careful with the addresses you link to your account so that it won’t be an exact match with that of an offender(that you may or may not know)
Amazon closed my account because of a $20 gift card
In April, I’ve redeemed a total of $140 gift cards given to me.
I redeemed a $20 and a $100 one on April 3rd and used them to buy a vinyl and a tamagotchi. Everything went well, no issues at all and I received my package shortly after.
On April 17th I redeemed another $20 gift card and it just stayed in my account I didn’t use it.
Fast forward to April 21st I received an e-mail from Amazon saying my account has been closed.
I tried to log into my account and it said I needed to upload a billing statement and proof of gift card ownership and I sent exactly what they wanted. It didn’t help. I received an e-mail saying the following:
After a review of your details, we have determined it is necessary to close your Amazon.com account. Any pending orders have been canceled.
I of course immediately reached out to the customer service and explained everything. They told me my account wasn’t actually closed and it was just on hold. They asked me for my full name, billing address and phone number and said that they escalated this issue to the account specialist team and I would hear back in 24 hours.
I didn’t hear back from them so I contacted the customer service several times again. They kept repeating the same thing asking for my full name, billing address and phone number.
It’s a never ending loop. I couldn’t care less about a $20 gift card I just don’t want to lose years of purchase history, my huge Kindle and movie library. My echo devices have stopped working as well.
How do I solve this? I’ve also e-mailed jeff@amazon.com and dave@amazon.com
@brown: jeff is no longer the CEO. dave has also left amazon. please message the new CEO.
Since all channels where I can get answers from Amazon are closed, I am forwarding it to you:
Hello;
I am a new amazon seller. My amazon.com buyer account suspended temporarily on February 21. Also my seller account has been locked. Based on this, I uploaded the requested documents from the system and I received an e-mail that you will see in the attachment. It was stated that there would be a return at the end of 24-48 business hours on February 22, but as of March 3, there is no response yet. There is nothing illegal in my transactions. How can I proceed to resolve this issue? I’m asking for your help.
@Derya: what were the reasons given for the suspension? Amazon must have stated what they feel you did wrong.
Hello,
this article was very helpful. Amazon recently just closed my account because my account was linked to a previous account that violated their terms. The thing is I have never had a previous account so I do not know what they are talking about. there was no warning beforehand so this sudden closure was very surprising. I also recently purchased a lot of items for christmas gifts and now I can’t see which ones are getting delivered or not. I’ve been trying to contact them asking for more information and told them I had no previous accounts but they still decided to close my account anyway. This is their reply:
Thank you for contacting us.
I’ve reviewed your e-mail, and I understand you’re concerned about the decision to close your account. While I know you’re disappointed with our stance on this matter, I want to assure you the information you received is correct.
After closely examining your account, any related accounts, and your order history. We have ensured that any decision regarding your account was made according to our policies.
After careful consideration, we have determined that we will not reopen your closed Amazon accounts. You will not be able to place orders on our site.
Our records show that we previously closed an account of yours for violating the terms of our Conditions of Use agreement. When we close your account for violating the terms of an agreement, you cannot open a new account or use another account to place orders on our site.
Due to the proprietary nature of our business, we’re unable to discuss other accounts with you.
Do you think I can still do something about to reopen my account since I really have no idea of an older account? or should I just accept that this is a lost cause.
@Angelique: go through the article, and you will see the steps for opening a stealth amazon account. of course, if they say they linked your account to a previously closed one, they are correct. To continue using the site, you must use someone else’s details to open it. Also, that person must not share your personal details such as name, address, cards, phone number or IP
Hello Lemmy, a few days ago I was doing some shopping at Amazon, I made an order of about 100$ on a few PC parts. After 5 hours of placing my order I got an email from Amazon with the following:
“We have canceled your order and voided the Amazon gift card balance used in the purchase.
We took these actions because you tried to use Amazon.com gift cards that are in violation of our terms and conditions. We cannot reissue the Amazon.com gift cards or reimburse you for these funds. Please note that if you purchased your Amazon gift card from a retailer, or obtained it from a third party, they won’t be able to reissue the gift cards or reimburse you for these funds.
If this activity continues, we may take a permanent action on your account.”
So far the only different thing I did this time was to change my shipping address because I needed to ship these PC parts using a new international courier. I have some significant old gift card balance in my account that I’ve been using over time and the last time I added funds to it was 3 months ago after I claimed a giftcard a friend gave me by my birthday.
Since my order was automatically closed and my giftcard funds were added back to my balance, would it be problematic if I try doing the purchase again?, or should I contact support to have more information about the order cancellation reason?. I’m afraid I can get my account blocked permanently and lose all my giftcard funds.
@Jay: they already said they voided your gift cards. I don’t think you can reuse it. But, in case you are capable of reusing it, i will advise you to buy something below $100 and also ship to the shipping address you have been using prior to the incident.
Hello Lemmy, I know this happened a while ago, but I wanted to report back anyway.
After a few days of placing my $100 order with gift card balance I received it back, for some reason it was not voided like Amazon notified in that automated message. I followed your instructions and removed the new P.O. Box shipping address along with some other old addresses and just left the last one that worked.
I made a new order of 90$ using my gift card balance, and fortunately I was able to ship it successfully. After that, I continued placing orders until I consumed my $1800 Amazon gift card balance. The conclusion is that Amazon probably doesn’t like several addresses added to your account, and I triggered some sort of flag system.
Thank you so much for the help provided Lemmy, you really helped me with your suggestion. God bless you. Have a great day!
@Jay: it is very thoughtful of you that you deem it fit to report back that my suggestions worked for you. With people like you, the internet will be a better place.
Hi Lemmy,
Thanks for the detailed post. Both Dave Clark and Mike Roth have moved on from Amazon and Douglas Herrington has took on both their roles. Unfortunately, it’s not easy to find his e-mail. I’m in a situation where my account is on hold due to my gift card balance activity. I have been redeeming many Kindle Unlimited Subscriptions as a gift card balance to save up for a bigger purchase > $1k. I was offered these at discount from someone and I do not have receipts. I sent an e-mail to Jeff, but nothing has changed in the past week. I may end up sending another with the advice you mentioned to see if it helps.
@Bob: please recheck the article, it has been updated accordingly.
Hi lemmy
My Amazon account was closed for obsessive returns however I’ve had this account well over 10 years and the issues didn’t occur until the pandemic hit I even went above the customer service to supervisors to complain about the misdelivered packages and was told to write very detailed and specific delivery instructions which I also did and I placed a grocery order that was delivered to someone else the picture clearly shows a house that isn’t my house as a proof of delivery after contacting Amazon for a refund or replacement they closed my account even with the proof that their driver didn’t deliver to my home. When I argue this to them they keep sending the same automated reply “Hello,
As we informed you earlier, we have closed this account. This is because you have consistently asked us to issue refunds for a large number of your orders. While we expect the occasional problem with an order, we cannot continue to issue refunds to you at this rate.
After a thorough review, we have decided not to restore your full access to this account. You will not be able to place orders on our site.
If you have any digital content on this account, you can access the content from the “Manage Your Content and Devices” link on the Your Account menu on Amazon.com.
Sincerely,
Account Specialist
Amazon.com” my biggest issue is I have a fire stick in which I have apps paid for, as well as the fact they owe me a refund for my groceries, and I just paid my monthly prime subscription and channels please tell me what next steps to take because I know I didn’t follow the proper channels before reading your article but I was frustrated for being penalized for something that’s not my fault
@uknown: I am sorry about your situation. however, no online store enjoys excessive refunds. it simply means something is wrong with your shipping address that is preventing the shipping company from carrying out a successful delivery. I will advise that you change your address and write to them on their social media page with the move you have made.
Can we use someone,s prime video account on the device which is suspended by amazon?
@Rajini: that is dangerous. you may however risk it after formatting the device. You have a 50/50 chance though
Hi Lemmy
I wish i saw your site sooner i may have email Jeff too soon.My account was put on hold after i reported fraud.I called amazon was told they were able to stop the shipment. Then i called my bank reported the purchases as fraud and ordered a new prime card and atm card. Then the problems started my account was put on hold. When i called amazon they said they would send a request for more info.Never got the email had to call back and was told the same as the 1st call i did as them to make sure they were sending to email to my real email address not the one the hijacker change it to.I heard a person in the back say oh i see what’s going on here.I then got the request for a copy of my billing statement and it said only show the last 4 digits of any account numbers i did that.A few days went by i tried to login it said i did not supply enough info.I called again was told i would get another request never did .In this call the customer service person said why don’t i just open a new account.I asked if i can do that using the same info and email address they said yes .I did that tried to order two items got one and amazon canceled the other and they sent me an email said never do that again.Called a few more times tried twitter tried my bank.Every time i called they would say just open a new account. My main account is closed the second says they need more info but i can still ask ALEXA stuff.Guess i have to wait a week to see if i hear from Jeff.I did get an email saying the account was locked because. The card issuer disputed one ore more charges.Would contacting the BBB be my next move.
@David pride: BBB might not help since amazon is currently placing any hold on your fund. Try and wait for the reply from jeff. hope your message to Jeff was politely worded.
Hi Lemmy,
My account was placed on hold temporarily out of the blue. I’ve had this account for around 10 years, have made tens of thousands of purchases, used the same credit card for purchases for the last 1 to 2 years, and haven’t done anything out of the ordinary recently as far as I can tell.
Whenever I tried to log in, Amazon requests that I upload a billing statement for the payment method I last used with my name, billing address, phone number (if the billing statement contains my phone number), recent transactions, and the last 4 digits of the credit card to verify ownership. I upload the last billing statement with the information as requested and they ask me to wait 24 hours.
The next day, I receive an email that they were unable to verify ownership of the credit card with the information I submitted and that my account was still on hold and that I would need to upload a billing statement with the SAME INFORMATION I ALREADY SUBMITTED requested last time. I upload the SAME billing statement and wait another day. This time, I receive an email stating the document provided was illegible or unclear.
I decided to try to resolve the issue through the phone so I called Amazon and was transferred to the Account Specialist team. The person on the phone tells me to send the billing statement, photos of the credit card, screenshots of the bank’s website showing recent transactions and personal information to address-verification@amazon.com which I do. She reviews the submissions, tells me it is satisfactory and places me on hold to communicate with the verification team. When she gets back, she tells me the verification team is telling her the submissions are still insufficent. She says they aren’t giving her a reason and she is not sure what else is necessary since the information I submitted and she reviewed was satisfactory. She even recommends that I create a new account with a different email address, phone number, and payment method at the end of the call.
I try another time and upload the request billing statement, photos, and screenshots and additional documents with additional information and labels on the website. Nealy immediately, I receive the following email:
Hello,
After a review of your details, we have determined it is necessary to close your Amazon.com account. Any pending orders have been canceled.
We may not reply to further emails about this issue.
Sincerely,
Account Specialist
Amazon.com
https://www.amazon.com
I call the Account Specialist team again and the person on the phone tells me the verification team has closed my account; no reason was given; the account closure is permanent; that the verification team will no longer respond to this issue; that there is no way to contact the verification team directly only through the Account Specialist team. She then also recommends that I create a new account with a different email address and phone number. I specially ask if I can use the same payment method, billing address, and shipping address and she said that it would be fine. She also said that she is going to unlink my phone number from the closed account so that I might be able to use the same phone number but no gurantees
That being said: (1) I am so confused why my payment method came into question when I have used it to make purchases on Amazon for years now without any problem. The last purchase I made was <$40 for saucepans; if it was a high-value purchase for electronics, I might understand. (2) I submitted all the documents with all the information they have requested multiple times but for some reason, they keep saying it is insufficient. (3) They closed my account instead of not allowing the payment method in question.
I curious what the next steps to take are. No reason was given for the account closure so I don't think there was anything explicily negative. The Account Specialist team even tells me I can create a new account but I'm still worried I'm banned so I haven't tried yet. I contacted @AmazonHelp on Twitter and they direct me to the contact page on the website. Have you heard of a similar situation?
Best regards,
Joe
@Joe: If you look inward, you will know what is wrong with the document you submitted. Something similar to this happened to me and in my case, i realized that I submitted a bank statement instead of a card statement. I did this because my bank doesn’t allow the retrieval of card statements. I was able to add a note to the submission page stating that they should call my bank to corroborate my claim because my bank refused to give me a credit card statement. The above scenario will result in “insufficient information” similarly if you doctor your statement, they will know.
Lastly, the document you are submitting must match the address and name on your credit card.
I doubt if there is anything you can do differently at this time.
Hi Joe,
I am facing the same problem! they closed my account after my 2nd upload, they don’t have glasses when check the statement!
But at the end do you solve all stuff?
BR
Eric
Hello. My buyer account was suspended but I have another account under a different name I can use. Is it ok to have the packages shipped to the same shipping address?
@kenny N: You may get away with this as long as the shipping address does not carry your name and phone number.
My account was closed for “Misuse of Amazon Services” but I had two pending refunds on the account. I called them and they said my account isn’t closed but “on hold” and should be reopened soon (2-7 days)
Should I wait for a while before I start writing any emails? I called more than once and they all said my account isn’t closed but on hold. I also can still partially login, but when I try to access most things like checking orders or placing orders, it says “Account closed”
Not sure what to do in this situation.
^^
They also said the reason for closure in the email is:
Our records show that we previously closed an account of yours for violating the terms of our Conditions of Use agreement. When we close your account for violating the terms of an agreement, you cannot open a new account or use another account to place orders on our site.
However, I have not had any accounts previously banned, nor have I done anything wrong.
Whats the best approach? Considering they said my account is “on hold”?
@ghost: I am sorry you get caught up in the middle of this. I think someone who you share personal details such as name or address has had his or her account closed
@ghost: give them like a week then send an email to account verification or message the same on Twitter
they just sent this now:
Hello,
We reviewed our decision to close your account. We found that the decision was made according to our policies. As a result, your account will remain closed.
Your account is directly related to an account that we closed for misusing our services, which is against our Conditions of Use and Sale.
Sincerely,
Account Specialist
not entirely sure what to do at this point, I am going to email back and just hope it works
What Amazon email address have you been using to contact them? address-verification@amazon.com?
@Joe: it is either address verification or i can call them or i go through twitter
My amazon account has been locked for misuse of amazon services but I have done nothing wrong.
I sell on Merch by Amazon, I can still see my products on the search but I can’t access them.
I have tried several email addresses but no one has responded.
I have no idea what to do now.
@Rachel: try their Twitterhandle or Facebook
I was banned for too excessive returns and they say the delivered when they not, but they can’t loose, i successfully created another account with other name and different billing address, i had to ask my bank to replace my cards because i can no longer use them on amazon…the question in fact will be, can I use my new bank cards that I got replacements with new cvv on it, it’s no problem if i pay with those cards? They still have my name on it
@Andres Jairala: If the new cards still bear your name, they will trace and ban you.
To have a chance to continue using amazon, you must be completely stealthy
At this point look more simple to change my legal name to be like a new customer, but thank for the info I better borrow a card from a friend
@Andrres: you can hardly go wrong using some else’s account with thi]eir permission. It is almost totally impossible to use your name again on amazon after the suspension of your account.
I wonder how this works when you have a common name….and there are many others in the same country with that name.
@Lauren: common name and common billing address will cause trouble. However, a common name different middle name and different billing address can get you off the hook
So lets say I got banned (unjustified but for them i return excessively and ask refund (again amazon warehouse say its like new and i get broke stuff) )…and I successfully created another account with other name and different billing address…the question in fact will be, can I use a different name on the same address for my home to still receive my package here and also, If I got a new card with different numbers on it, it’s no problem when I use my name on the card?
@sebastian: you can’t use your name, your billing address, same device and same IP.
Got it, but if my credit or debit card wich I never used in Amazon because I got replacements it is with my name there is no problem of using it ?
@Sebastian: your name on any document, payment method, or address is now a problem on amazon.com. if you want to use the same name, you can try amazon.other countries
So as far I can see I have to rely on gift cards and different name on my address
@sebastian: if you rely on gift cards, your account will be suspended in no time.
You have to come out clean with all new name, address, ip and use only your bank card to shop on Amazon in order to avoid suspension
How can I use my bank card if you already said that my name in any payment method is now a problem, can you tell me ?
@Sebastian: you can’t use a bank card that carries your name any longer on amazon.com(US)
You can use all your details if you are registering on amazon germany, uk, japan, or the like.
I need a lawyer. Amazon closed my buyer account and holding my pictures and gift cards hostage
@Steve: you can actually sue them to get your funds back. However, I can say the same about the pictures. you might want to check their terms and conditions for what they said about this.
Great article Lemmy! Perhaps you may help with my Amazon purchasing account after what I thought would be an easy resolution has turned into a 2-month ordeal.
My account: US Account, +10 years old, used a gift card maybe 2 times ever, never loaded gift cards or anything, never hard a warning or problem.
Suspended for: 2 months ago I had a breach with my google account which allowed them to access my amazon account. this resulted in many accounts being put on hold so that I could correct the issue. from my bank to google and then some. All resolved and very thankful google as well as Amazon detected the fraud and the GPU’s that were purchased via my Amazon account were stopped and not delivered and I wasn’t charged. It was a classic case of Amazon’s detection systems working perfectly!
Problem: My account was temporarily suspended due to suspected unauthorized access or fraud. something along those lines but said temp and said fraud activity. This was two months ago and although all my other accounts were resolved Amazon still to this day and I called support 5 times (just called 10min ago) and am always told the same thing but I never get a response. They say your account was passed to an account specialist and we can’t do anything. They have no number and we’ll put a note in your account to have them call. Please give them 24-72 hours or whatever but they never call. Never send an email. So I’m actually in the dark and have no emails from them but for the initial hey we suspected fraud-like activity in your account please login and check if that was you. but I can’t login so here we are. 2 months, no response and called 5 times. i figured this would be easy and if there is something else going on I have no way of knowing. Google was hardcore as well but they provided access to verify connections and 3rd party access and actually were very helpful whereas Amazon did good by detecting it but has dropped the ball once they stopped that order. The order was made and sent to a location that I’ve never been or heard of in Texas. Good job but now I need access back or tell me why you haven’t yet. but silence. I’m kind of stuck.
@Richard king: please send a direct message to their support on Twitter @amazonhelp. there is a way they can escalate your case to the concerned party.
My mistake
1. I bough lots electronic (3) and my buddy send back accidentally counterfeit item or bad item . Try solved it been warm and to Amazon specialist. Unsolved.
2. When Amazon close my account. I tough I can open new account for my Alexa to put music on and accidentally bough an item. They found me and close my 2nd email account and said ban . Below is I received from them.
Hello,
We closely examined your account, any related accounts, and your order history to ensure that any decision regarding your account was made according to our policies.

@Gabrielle: You can’t open a new amazon account using your existing personal information. you need someone else to open another account for you.
That someone mustn’t have owned a suspended amazon account prior
My amazon buyer account was closed due to misuse for the purpose of resale. I only bought around 250 items. The first was closed and then I opened other accounts. A second account was closed after only about 15 transactions. I was also buying things for my self also. Then, I opened up several accounts with only 2 or 3 purchases per account. They closed all of them. This all happened in a 2 month duration. Now, I realize they really don’t like dropshipers but I want to buy for myself and open a new account. Iv’e tried openeing accounts and making purchases. I’m able to open an account but soon after making a purchase I get a message saying they need to confirm that I was authorized to use the payment method. Everything matches up with my billing address and they will not approve the documents I provide. Seems that they would know I was the rightful owner and just send me a message stating that the info was tied to an account that was closed due to misuse which was the error message I recived several times when they started getting closed, Now it’s just payment autorization when I open a new one. Correct me if I’m wrong but I would need the following to open an account under my name.
1. New billing adress
2. New payment information. (could I change bank card but still use same bank?)
3. New phone number
4. New Ip address. there is a service called ip burger that you could use for chrome.
5. New device
6. New wi fi
Also, I wanting buy a few things for my self so if I used a relatives address and the items shipped to my address?
@Huner: you actually can’t use anything connected to you personally to open a new amazon account. Also, if you want to do dropshipping or buy for business, you need to open an amazon business account. Finally, if you succeed in opening a new amazon account, you must not repeat the same mistakes that led to the loss of your original accounts. below are the REQUIREMENTS.
1. New billing address
2. New payment information. (could I change bank card but still use same bank?). You must change your bank card and bank name.
3. New phone number
4. New Ip address. there is a service called ip burger that you could use for chrome.
5. New device
6. New wi fi
Also, I want buy a few things for my self so if I used a relative’s address and the items shipped to my address? (You also need a new shipping address that will not carry your name.
I wondered if it’s still the case that Jeff is the only person who we can email? Even if he is not the CEO any more? I have an account closed and the Account Specialists will not open and say the decision is final. I want to try one more time but wasn’t sure if emailing Dave or Mike will work any more.
@Mike: Give them a call and let them reconnect you to an account specialist. you need to send a proper appeal. In addition, you can message them on twitter.
What is the proper appeal? Is it replying to the email they send? If so I did that and they said the closure is a final decision. Wondered if emailing Jeff is now the only option.
@Mike M: it all depends on the enormity of your offense. You didn’t tell us what you did wrong. If it is all about gift cards or a relationship with a suspended account, you have little to no chance.
My issue is the account was closed due to refunds on packages left in public spaces and have gone missing. Amazon drivers were leaving packages in an open, secured lobby of our building instead of following the delivery instructions. That’s why it was closed.
@Mike: i think amazon believes you should be responsible for a safe delivery weather it is handedover to a person or dropped in your mailbox/doorstep.
Moreover, you can change your amazon delivery option so that the driver will require a signature before dropping your items.
You need to take concrete action to prevent a reoccurrence. Once you have done that, you can actually appeal to amazon AS. Make sure you accept the fault of multiple refunds because of missing items dropped off at your location. Secondly, tell them what you have done right moving forward.
If you appeal to them without righting the wrong, they will ignore your appeal.
Thanks for your help. Since I have sent emails to owa@amazon.com and they have not replied, what is the best way to contact them? Is it using Jeff’s email address? Or is there a better method. Appreciate the help.
@Mike M: What did you do wrong exactly?
Amazon drivers were leaving packages in a public lobby of a large office building where our office is located. Some packages went missing because they did not deliver to the suite listed on our delivery address but instead just left them in the lobby where there is traffic from offices and a restaurant. They closed the account because of too many refunds for these packages they did not deliver to our suite.
@Mike M: You need to take a course of action otherwise, they won’t listen to your appeal. if they reinstate your account, you will definitely commit the same error if you don’t ensure a workable and safe delivery location for your items.
What is the best contact to appeal?
@Mike M: Twitter
I assume it’s @AmazonHelp? How do I provide details via Twitter? Or will they contact me if they want information? Sorry for so many questions.
@mike M: they will contact you
I was very intrigued by your article! I’m pretty sure this would’ve helped tons of people who have had flagged accounts get more insight on what’s going on.
I do have a question, What if someone were to move into a house with a Banned/Closed Billing Address? Would their account get banned/closed as well although they were totally not related to the individuals who were living there before?
Cause I have a friend who didn’t understand why their account got banned and when I was researching on reasons why it could be the case. Would my friend submit an appeal, and what could he possibly say? He’s been a Amazon customer for 7+ years.
@vinny: what was the reason why they banned your friend?
Thank you so much for this thorough and insightful article.
My way of thanking you is to bring a couple of typos in this great article to your attention:
… I buyer and never sells. [I buy]
about them are not through [true].
You may moderate this comment and not publish it. I just wanted to help you make this article 100% perfect. I will ask my question in another comment.
@Joe: thank you so much for your observations. The necessary corrections have been implemented
Hi Lemmy,
Thanks for the awesome post. I live in the US too. My established Amzn account of many years was closed in Sept. of 2021 for returning incorrect items and likely an excessive number of returns. Amzn agreed to restore my account earlier in the summer after emailing them to dispute the account closure. The problems persisted enough for them to permanently close the account. I’ve communicated extensively with Amazon and apologized to try to restore the account unsuccessfully. “ofm@amazon.com” sadly no longer replies to my emails. None of the executives have replied to me yet. Maybe I need to try messaging them from a different email address than my closed account.
It’s looking very slim that I’ll be allowed back soon. I’ve learned good lessons from this incident and I’m still working on communicating with Amazon thru a legal letter. My business phone number, email, and addresses were associated with this account and I’m hoping my phone number is not permanently banned from Amazon.
I’ve tried to open dozens of accounts after my original account was closed that are also quickly closed upon placing an order using the same address, credit card, phone number, or home wifi. Amazon would not tell me how long I am banned for. I’m hoping it’s not permanent as I own lots of Amazon stock. Can you tell me if I’ll be able to use Amazon again 1 year after the account was closed?
Over the years, I had placed orders on this now-closed account at various places. I had placed orders on my old account at a friend’s house, for example, on my phone using their wifi though while I stayed at their house which is an hour drive from the normal wifi at my house.
If my friends now place an order using their own Amazon account, own device, own shipping address on their wifi, the same wifi I have used before on my now-closed account, will their established accounts be closed immediately too? I’m hoping it will not close their account solely from the wifi unless the shipping address, credit card, IP address, etc. is the same as on my old account. Is this correct? I want to make sure their account doesn’t get closed unknowingly just by placing an order as normal on their wifi.
Any advice to fix this helps.
Thank you, Lemmy, for helping me with these questions!
@Jone: I am afraid, you have not done well at all. Here are what I have observed from your post:
1. you deliberately caused the permanent closure of your account by returning wrong items/and by making excessive returns. The best way to avoid return items is by buying from sellers with high positive reviews (four stars sellers)
2. You want to endanger your relatives’ accounts by trying to use their wifi to log in.
3. You can’t get back your account. However, if amazon is owing you can sue them in courts for small claims and get back all your money.
4. The only way you can ever shop on amazon again is only if you ask someone to ship for you or if you open another account with no personal details. e.g, phone number, IP, wifi, credit card, address, name, shipping address, the device are not the same as or related to any amazon account that is already closed/suspended.
I know I have made poor choices Lemmy. I didn’t see your article until after this happened. I’ve learned from this experience with plans to do better. I had hundreds of orders this year totaling tens of thousands of dollars. Therefore, we would have returns regularly.
1. The excessive returns were fueled on by Covid-19 outbreak. Amazon also said that certain items were returned in poor conditions or the incorrect item altogether. This doesn’t matter now. When I determined incorrect items were returned, I stopped the remaining returns with UPS and Amzn.
2. I do not wish to endanger my friends’ account. I had simply used their wifi earlier this year for purchases when my account was working. Now Amzn knows I used that wifi before. That is why I am asking if they will have any issue if they order on their own wifi or if Amazon will know that they are legitimate. I’m sure I’ve used public wifi too, like Starbucks, and I’m trying to determine how this works. Can you please provide any info you can about this wifi problem?
3. I did have a small balance of gift cards on one of the newer accounts I had created after they banned my original account. It is for $60. Would a legal letter help? Would I sue in district court in my state?
4. Is there any hope that my privileges will be allowed with a new account after a year? My last account that ofm banned was one month ago.
Thanks again
If your account is in good standing, you can use any wifi ir mobile network globally to access your amazon account.
On the contrary, if your account is suspended, don’t use the same network as someone who’s having a working account otherwise, you may cause their account to be suspended as well eventually.
You can sue them on courts of small claim if it’s worth in order to recover your $60.
It will take a miracle to own another account in your name sir.
If you must use amazon, a ? stealth account is the only way for you.
Hello,
This was an extremely well writen and helpful article. Thank you so much! Can the same name from a banned account be used on a credit card as long as it has a different billing address? I had a similar experience but it was my sister abusing my account and amazon will not reopen my account.
For example if the name on the closed account is John Doe and he lives at a new address that was not banned by amazon and the card was never used on a banned account will this be accepted? Also can the account be opened in the same name? Many people have same names? Like if John Doe uses new devices, new internet and a new IP address?
@sw: many people have the same name. So if ip, billing address, cc details and device is different, be rest assured that you are safe.
I have a question. My amazon account was closed for excessive returns.

We have closed your Amazon.com account. We took this action because you have consistently asked us to issue refunds [and replacements] for a large number of your orders. While we expect the occasional problem with an order, we cannot continue to issue refunds or replacements to you at this rate.
If you had open orders on this account, those orders were canceled when we closed the account.

Is there anything I can do? I tried apologizing and accepting that I did do wrong. Sent them an email hoping they would reopen. Nothing. Any chances? Could I go up to the next chain of command?
@May I am sorry, but Amazon is not like eBay that you may return an item that is not exactly the same as what you purchased and get away with it. You can try appealing to Jeff. But I think there is little you can do. You have a very poor case. When you eventually open a new account, please don’t return larger number of your orders. Instead, buy from highly rated sellers and you won’t need to return at all.
We have closed this account because our records show that we closed another account of yours for not meeting the terms of our Conditions of Use agreement. When we close your account for violating the terms of an agreement, you cannot open a new account or use another account to place orders on our site.
They reopen my account???
Or refund providing me or not
@nik: do you have any fund trapped in the account?
I canceled my order before the account was closed. It was successfully canceled prior to account closure. Will my refund be processed?
@SW: Yes. Your refund will be processed if your orders were processed successfully,
Hello Lemmy Morgan
This was a very detailed and well written article, I was wondering if you could help me out with my unique situation. I created a new amazon buyer account earlier this year because I wanted to sell on amazon. So essential its a amazon buyer account and amazon seller account with the same information. A few months back, my account was locked and closed twice for a big purchase but I was able to contact customer service to get the form again and fill it out. Upon filling it out, the account was reinstated both times. Then a month later, the same thing happened, my account has been locked and closed for a 3rd time. This time it was locked and closed on august 13th 2021 and its still locked/closed. For the past two months I’ve tried everything, I contacted customer service, account login services, managers, supervisors, a few emails, and every single time, I either get the form again or no response. Over the past two months, I’ve probably filled out the form over a dozen times and each time it just gets closed. I always submit the correct information and it keeps closing, at this point, i am not sure what to do anymore and i am panicking. I just read your article and emailed Dave but i am not so hopeful. I cant even closed my seller account and re-open a new one with the same email because it tells me to login to do so. I am going to try and contact the corporate number tomorrow but otherwise I dont know what else to do. Should I contact a lawyer?
Thank you, Teng.
@Teng: are you in the USA or Canada? secondly, do you have any pending purchases that have been canceled or do you have any gift card balance trapped?
I had the same thing occur multiple times as well. They finally told me that I needed to keep all purchases below $1,000 and space them at least thirty minutes apart. We haven’t had a fraud lockout since. I hope this helps!
Great article! Thank you for the info. I just opened my business account a week ago and started placing low-cost orders with gift cards. After 4 days of using my account, I received an account freeze and email stating to send Amazon receipt of the gift cards I used. I sent them immediately. The next day, Amazon sent me an email like yours stating that my account was reinstated, all orders were processed, and my gift card balance was restored. I was happy to see this, but four hours later my account was blocked again with a statement of suspicious activity and I would receive an email with details. I never received an email. I called CS and they did not know why my account was closed. They emailed an account specialist asking them to reopen my account. I was told I would receive an answer in 24-48 hours. It has been 24 and no word. I have no idea why my account would be closed. All items were inexpensive and general household items. Why would they close my business buyer account, apologize and reopen my account, then close it all within 24 hours?
@kyle: you should know that amazon activity is now 95% automated. Maybe their security bot caught you and flag your account. you may have been ordering low-end items, if the total volume you are doing is large, they will still flag you down.
You need to wait 5 working days to receive a response. if you don’t get a response after 5 working days, send a mail to “Jeff”
Thank you for the reply. My account was closed on 9/30, reopened on 10/1 and refroze on 10/1. Today is 10/5 and my account is still locked. CS still says they do not know why the account is locked and send an email to the account specialists to unlock it. I emailed Dave from Amazon yesterday and Jeff today. What makes it more frustrating is I keep receiving emails from Amazon asking me to verify my address or send them my tax-exempt info but I cannot log into my account to do these things. This is beyond frustrating.
@kyles Benett: can you please message them on twitter? they have a way of granting you access to your account t be able to send them the necessary documents.
Hello Lemmy Morgan,
First of all, thank you very much for this great article.
my problem is very big, can you please give an idea?
I have 3 years amazon buyer account. I also have an amazon seller account for close to 3 years. My seller account has been suspended with a fake product complaint. and I write apeal. amazon my buyer account was closed due to too many purchases and sending to customers.
In fact, they sent me a warning e-mail first. They said you can’t send to customers. I said ok I understood my mistake. I said I will not send it to customers again. Then I sent another e-mail and said I can send it to the warehouse. amazon officially told me yes. and even said your account is safe. I bought the product and sent it to the warehouse. I was selling these products on my own website. I know this is not against amazon rules. but still amazon buyer closed my account. and replied that it won’t open anymore.
Now the most important thing is that my seller is closed in the account, unfortunately I cannot log in. and a large amount of money is being held in my seller account.
what should i do in this situation lemmy morgan,
please i need your opinion i am not a us citizen.
Thanks
@ISA: WRITE TO THE CUSTOMER CARE DEPARTMENT THAT HANDLES AMAZON SELLERS COMPLAINS
Hello there,
First of all, thank you very much for this wonderful and detailed article. I am a dropshipping seller on Amazon.ca. I’ve been using the same recipient account for almost 2 years and have had no problems so far.
However, on 14 september, unfortunately, I received such an e-mail.
“Hello,
We deactivated your Amazon.com account because you have consistently used your Amazon account for the purpose of reselling in violation of Amazon Terms and Conditions.
If you have any open orders on this account, those orders have been canceled and refunded to the payment method used.

I am a store with high sales volume. That’s why I sent 350 orders from my closed buyer account in the last 3 days and they weren’t shipped yet. Therefore, according to this e-mail, these orders will be canceled before they are shipped and money will be refunded to me. This means that orders will not reach the buyers and amazon’s valuable customers will not be able to receive their orders. How do you think I should write to amazon so that they at least send me a list or report of these canceled products?
Have you ever seen a buyer account opened temporarily or permanently after being closed for this reason?
In fact, the account is not very important to me, the important thing is to deliver the orders to the customers or to return them without any problems.
I am waiting for your reply as soon as possible
Stay Healthy,
@yussey: you can call amazon cs to inquire about canceled orders. Also, you can ask your credit card company to cancel all the unshipped orders. If everything else fails. you can write and complain to bbb.org
Hello, We made a call yesterday. (1-800-388-5512) The person working at CS stated that he could not help in this matter and that only someone at the account specialist level could do this and conveyed this situation to them.
However, when we asked for a phone or e-mail belonging to the account specialist, unfortunately, they could not share it. He told me that I will receive an e-mail, I’m waiting.
Sometimes I have witnessed that customer service gives answers to ward us off… Is there any other number you would suggest for me to call?
Also, I am not an American citizen. Will it help if I write to bbb.org? And is there a link to this page?
Stay Healthy
@yussy: you may try and send a message JEf before trying your luck out with bbb.org. the link is in this article
hi, in my case amazon has blocked me because i have requested too many refunds. I have tried to communicate with them and they have told me that after evaluating it, they will not open it again. I have sent an email to dave and I have not received a response. I have sent one to roth but it is not accepting messages because it is full. They keep charging me for packages that say I have not returned but they have refunded me and they have withheld a refund of 100 euros and a gift balance of 10. What can I do? Thanks
@mery where are you located?
in spain
They have opened my account for 48 hours and I have been able to claim one of the refunds and stop the collection of another package but they have closed it again and there are still 50 euros to return that I do not think they will return to me anymore
@mery: why didn’t you use up the remaining 50 while you had the opportunity? Amazon is pretty intentional about account closure. you may write another appeal to them for them to allow you use your 50 euros
@mery: have you sent a mail to Jeff?
no, I don’t. may I do it? I coudn’t use the 50 euros because they had bloqued.
i have received an email from amazon that my account has been closed. As for 2 missing boxes , I contacted amazon on july 16 providing them information that the FedEx driver was taking the boxes ,i provided them with security camera footage , asked for their help and also contacted FedEx. Some of my neighbors also have the same problem. also they email me for the warning last month i have not send you any boxes back. . I have been amazon customer for 21 years
@Sina: do you mean amazon lost your shipment and close your account?
no, the FedEx driver was opening and taking some boxes ( 2 this year) damaging 2 other item , i think the FedEx driver took 1 last year.. i contacted costumer service, they said send them the damage items back and refund the missing items, i filed with police and police arrested the person. but amazon close my account, i contacted Executive Customer Relations they agreed with Account Specialist stating “decision to close your account is a final one”
@sina moghtader: you arrested the amazon staff?
This is just not true! I’m not sure what to do next.
We closed this account because you have repeatedly tried to return items that are different from the items you ordered. Although we expect the occasional issue with an order, your account shows an unusual number of problems.
Dear Lemmy,
Thank you for this very helpful article. I have an Amazon Business account and one my employees accounts registered under my Amazon business account was closed a couple of days ago. Apparently he violated their gift card policy although we don’t actually buy gift cards.
In fact I usually authorize my team to reload their account balance using the company debit card and then start making purchases. I do this because its easier to keep track of our purchases and we don’t get any unexpected charges. I have also seen that when we pay directly with the cards the payment is sometimes declined and I have to log in and manually change the payment method and verify the payment on my banking app. Its a hassle and to avoid it, I prefer to just top up the account with the amount I need and then checkout.
I have a company registered in the US and my bank account and the associated credit/debit cards are issued by US banks. I have saved all these cards as well as associated my bank account with Amazon for Direct debits so they have access to all my company information.
On reading your article, it seems that we must have triggered a red flag, we reload amounts ranging from $500 to $2000 at a time and use most of the reloaded amount immediately.
Having said this, I would have expected a warning if we were doing something wrong and not an immediate account closure. Currently there was a balance of slightly over $1000 on the closed account, I would at least like this back.
What’s odd is that there are about 10 other employees who’s accounts are also associated with my business and their accounts are working fine.
I’ve called multiple times and spoken to their business support agents but all that they have been able to do is submit a form on my behalf and asked me to wait. They were friendly and supportive but its been 3 days and not one has contacted me.
Not sure if I should keep waiting or just use one of the other accounts to make my company purchases.
Thank you again for the great article.
Hi Lemmy,
I forgot to mention that we spend approximately $60K a month on Amazon so I would have expected to be treated a little more kindly.
@nomad: please give them at least 5 working days for them to get back to you. if nothing happens, then you can sue them. since you use your debit cards to reload your account, you have a very good case. also very effective is the fact that you can submit a report on bbb.org
Thank you Lemmy,
I’m glad you think I have a strong case. I was somewhat worried since I wasn’t sure how to go about appealing their decision.
I’ll wait for a few days and see what they decide.
all the best.
Hi Lemmy,
My account was closed because Amazon says they previously closed an account associated with mines for violating their terms and conditions. Recently I did allow a friend to use my account to place an order but I didn’t think anything of it, she said her account was not working. She logged in from her computer and had it sent to her address. She logged in to my account a few times after that, possibly from different devices because I kept receiving the texts but she would ask me to approve them which again I found no issue with because her order was processing. Once she completed her order, I changed my password and deleted her address and information from my account. If my account was closed because she used it, if I have to open a new account, do I have to not use my cards or addresses – or will they only be logging the information of the original account closed for violating their terms and conditions?
Note: I had a very old buyer account that I haven’t used since 2015 and that account is still open using my name.
@labrena: you can’t use same address and card as the account that was closed
Hi Lemmy,
My amazon account is not banned (at least not yet) but I am seeing all the red flags. They are giving me a hard time with returns and won’t refund me for months. My last order arrived empty and they want me to file a police complaint for an $15 item ( I have video evidence, through my cctv footage, that the package arrived empty). I am not interested in spending time and effort for one small item anyways. In the meanwhile, I am moving to a different town in a few weeks and am thinking about using this opportunity to start a new amazon buyer account. Could I use my spouse’s name and the new shipping/ billing address for the new account? What precautions should I take to make sure that my current account and my spouse’s new account does not get linked. Below are the precautions I plan on taking already,
– I will be using my husband’s phone (device) and his phone number for the new account (it was never used to login to my old account)
– New internet connection (with new router and modem) since we are moving anyways
-Never use my current phone or laptop to log in to any amazon account so amazon cannot link my new and old account.
My only concern is, we watch prime videos all the time and will be using the same 2 TVs as we used in our current address. I am planning on doing a factory reset in both TVs before connecting to the internet in the new address. Would this suffice? Or should I forget amazon prime for a while until we eventually replace all the devices (that could be years).
@sam: you should be find so long you won’t be using same internet as old account on your TV with the new account. Also, if your name matches that of your spouse extensively, you may be linked. As for others things, you are good to go.
bro if you get banned from amazon or just want to own more than one amazon buyer account (it is legit on amazon) I am here I am selling **US aged amazon buyer accounts with purchase history so it is Strong and trusted accounts by the company and it have **50$ gift card**

Hi Lemmy,
Since I’ve an account that was suspended before, I didn’t realize the fact that making a new account had many strictions, so our mistake was we made a new account #2 using the same credit card and on the same device, then upon ordering items we got suspended. We then again made another account #3 but with a different (new) credit card #2 on the same device and we got suspended again. This time knowing the reason behind the suspension, we made another different account #4 on a different device using a vpn, but we didn’t know that using credit card #2 got us suspended again. We are trying to unlock the recent account with providing Amazon the details they needed, like billing details and statement of our credit card from the bank. Amazon is going through the 5th time mailing us that we haven’t provided them enough information to unlock the account.
Since they recognized the credit card #2 which we have used from the previous Amazon account #3, will they still be able to unlock the current account? Or is there anyway for me to unlock the account?
@Melissa: but your chances are slim. their system has logged your personal information therefore they can easily use your card, billing address or even name to link and suspend your account. If you don’t have any funds trapped and you really want to continue using amazon, you need a complete stealth account. I already listed the procedures to open a stealth amazon account in my article here.
you should break free of amazon and try new sites like jewffer they will never kick you out
So it has been 8 days since I had my account. Since then Amazon Account Specialist have asked for 2 credit cards and 1 gift card. I have provided them everything they asked. They then asked for a 3rd credit card I have never owned to my knowledge. I told them I do not have this card nor is it mine. They then told me my account was closed. All the customer service agents just tell me the same thing. Nothing they can do. Any advice, only think left to do is seek Arbitration.
Thank you in advance.
@mike: you can try and go to court at this time. Especially if you are in the usa and you are using amazon.com
I appreciate you getting back to me but what is tweeting going to do. I’ve been back and forth with amazon account specialist team and I just don’t see how tweeting is going to help that.
@caralyn: i thought you said they have been sending you automated responses? tweet will force a human to review your case for the last time
Idk if it’s a human sending those emails or automated just due to sending the same email over and over again. Even with Twitter, they can say the same thing that the account is closed and they’re not looking into it and I’ll be starting from square 1 again, going in circles with them 20 times.in addition, if I tweet them, they have a right to not respond to it anyways if they don’t want to just like not responding to my emails. Don’t get me wrong, I really appreciate you assisting me, I just don’t see how this could get resolved without suing them, which I really didn’t want to do.
@CARALYN: IF you sue them for closing your account, you will most likely lose. but if you sue them from an injustice meted out to you(e.g: withholding your fund), you will definitely win. excesses returns is against amazons’ terms and conditions which you agreed to when you signed up. you could have prevented excessive returns by ensuring that you scrutinize the product/seller. You can even report anyone who has sold you any product that is not according to the description to amazon before returning it.
I am sorry but you only need to wait if bbb can help. otherwise, your only other option is to open another account. I mean a stealth account without any of your personal details.
Thank you for getting back! I know they have a say on the closure and some of the products were directly shipped and sold from Amazon and they still gave me issues. I sent an appeal to Jeff weeks ago, and I have yet to receive a response. In addition, for some reason, my mom’s amazon account was closed too and amazon won’t tell her. This whole situation is frustrating and I just want my moms account and my account open again. We’ve done everything we could and we really don’t want to take the route of suing if we don’t have to.
@caralyn: the only lawsuit you can definitely win against them is if they are trying to rob you off your money. As per account closure, you accepted their terms and conditions that they have the right to close your account unconditionally.
The only effective course of action you can take is to open another account using someone else’s details other than that of yours and your mum’s.
HI! my amazon account is closed due to the amount of returns on my account due to items coming into me broken, missing pieces, or not matching the website description. I know that the returns raises red flags but I returned the items because it’s not what I purchased. i shouldn’t have to keep the items especially if they are unusable. I’m not sure if you can help me with this but I feel like I’m being punished for something I shouldn’t be responsible for. again, i know it raises red flags, but there has been a reason for every return and i shouldn’t be responsible for it.
@Caralyn: retrun frequency is a red flag. please, is your money trapped?
Hi! My account was closed and I can’t access it.
@caralyn: what reason(s) was given for the closure?
Too many returns on my account but the way the items have been sent to me have been broken, missing pieces and items not matching the description… there’s no way I could keep those products. They were completely unusable.
@caralyn: so long amazon didn’t withhold your fund, they have the final say on account closure. Moving forward, please avoid sellers without good positive reviews or new sellers. take your time to buy only from top sellers.have you sent an appeal to Jeff?
hi lemmy. yes i did send an email appeal to jeff. i actually emailed him a few weeks ago right when this whole situation started and i havent heard back. in addition, my mom’s account was closed due to misuse but she did nothing wrong and amazon wont tell her why her account was closed. i returned items because there was a reason for the returns. i know it raises red flags but my mom and i shouldnt be responsible for this. i also sent a form through the bbb.org so im hoping something is resolved through that but im not holding my breath on it.
If jeff is not replying, please tweet amazon on their twitter handle. You can only beg/appeal. Your mom is someone link to you through your billing address or name. That’s why she wasn’t spared.
I don’t have Twitter and I’ve been begging the account team to look further into this as again, there’s a reason for all the returns.
@caralyn: you need to quickly create a twitter account
I don’t know what else to do? Any suggestions?
@caralyn: i think i have already answered you
Hi Lemmy,
My name is Elisabeth and I’m from Indonesia. I received an email saying that my account has been closed. However, I have an open order that are already been shipped and still preparing for shipment right now. I purchased it with gift cards from giveaways and most of them I purchased from Ezpin. I have already emailed them all the receipts but I kept getting the automatic emails.
The first email stated they cancelled all my order. I talk to the customer service and they reimbursed and asked me to reorder again which I did. The second email stated that my account is on hold and I need to provide them the documents and all the details. I did that too, lastly this morning they sent an email saying that my account has been closed and I need to provide the receipts too. I was so upset because I have give them all the receipts and yet why they are still asking me. I am so afraid because my orders consists of my friends order and I don’t have enough money to refund them.
What should I do?
Thank you
If you are in the usa, you can either sue them in a court of small claims or lodge your complain on bbb.org
Hey @Lemmy,
My account was recently closed due to “too many refunds” but I have only made 2 in my accounts 3 year existence both under 1000 dollars. I have messaged Amazon Specialists twice and have received the same bot generated response that my account has been closed due to violating Amazon TOS. I have filed a claim with BBB, messaged David from Amazon Executives , and am currently looking for what else to do . My amazon account is quiet literally my most prized possession as my computer building service relies on it heavily. I have been a prime member and have been careful upon all approaches . I am a US resident and it appears I simply don’t know what else to do. Please advise further.
@rana igra: bbb will fight for you. If that doesn’t work, you can sue them. Meanwhile, is amazon in anyway withholding your funds? If they are not owing you, i am afraid they have powers to close any account and no authority can force them to reopen it. However, they have no right to seize your money.
Wish me luck, I’m trying the BBB route. Dave & MRoth no longer work or it shows undeliverable intentionally. Jeff’s e-mail went through but never got a response. Account was on temporary hold, then closed eventually. I can discuss with your privately if you want, but my details are bit complicated and drawn out. I just want to thank you for posting this article and I felt a sense of hope attempting all the different options. BBB is my last option and I will pray for the best outcome.
@sun: you sure will be successful with BBB if you are in the US or Canada.
Yes, BBB was able to facilitate a reinstatement of my Amazon account of 15 years. I am shocked at the result, but very thankful.
What did you do Sun. I have had no luck getting my account reinstated and did try the BBB route. Amazon responded to the BBB route by saying they closed my account due to Terms and conditions I violated which is not true.
@mike: since they are not withholding your funds or any already-paid for items on theirs site, they have the final say on whether or not to close your account. No court can force them to change their stance.
Help me get my account back
Hello,
We have closed your Amazon.com account and canceled all of your open orders. Any new accounts you open will be closed.
We took these actions because you have submitted invalid credit cards as payment for Amazon.com orders.
Sincerely,
Account Specialist
@Jtrent238: What have you done wrong?
Nothing that I know of they tell me that there is suspicious activity on the account.
Hi Lemmy!
I’m from Venezuela, and maybe to live in a third world country triggered amazon’s red flags. Also, I tried to buy some PC supplies. I did not know this can happen to me and I think this is totally unfair. My question is: I replied to the first email (The Amazon account close email) they sent, requesting info or the steps I need to do to get my account and funds back ($300). I was very polite and kind, but I only received a “non-reply” automate response and nothing more. I requested the person who sent me the GC any proof of purchase and the person sent me the amazon invoice she received when bought the GC. The first Amazon email was 10 days ago. Today, I wrote Amazon again, requesting info, or even the steps to get my account back plus, the invoice. I received a “no-reply” email again immediately. I know you suggested not to attach the invoice, but I did not even receive a human response with a fax direction. Is this ok? Do I need to await the human response in the next 48 hours or do I need to continue to the next steps on your guide? Thanks, pal, for your kind response and support. I’m very stressed since I live in Venezuela, a dictatorship, a socialist paradise, and even to raise the money to buy another pc and continuing working is very hard. This is totally unfair.
@C.Gonzalez: I am sorry about your plight. Have you tried speaking with them on the phone?
Not really pal. I live in Venezuela and international calls are not allowed for Venezuelans. Do you have any advice for me? I did not receive any amazon response at this hour, and honestly, I doubt they contact me. In the first email they sent me, they mentioned to me if I want to unlock my account, I need to “sign in and follow on-screen instructions to upload the gift card purchase receipts or other documentation of ownership of the gift card” but the fact it is I cannot even sign in since the password or email does not work. I think the account specialist sent me out a wrong instruction or something.
@C.Gonzalez: Please contact amazon help on twitter
Hi Lemmy! My account has recently been locked. I do online streaming, and I receive gift cards from those who watch my streams. Therefore, I do not have the receipts of the gift cards that I have used on my account. Do you know if it would still be possible to unlock my account? I’ve had my account for more than 4 years, and it is my personal Amazon account.
@Alex: do you reside in Canada or the USA?
Hi Lemmy, thanks for responding. I’m in the US. They requested gift card receipts, and I was able to send some that I received over the holidays from family. But those were not the majority of the gift cards I’ve had on my account.
I’ve only had items shipped to my home address. Never really purchased expensive electronics, other than an Apple Watch last fall. In the past I’ve used Amazon reload to use up small balances (<$2) from prepaid Visa gift cards as those are a bit hard to finish off using in store. I've definitely purchased on Amazon consistently, especially in the past year. Lots of household and hobby purchases. I've only ever logged in from the US and on my own computer and phone.
So with that all being said, after reading your post I believe my account was locked because of using gift cards. I've been streaming for about a year or so, and never had issues. I've tried asking for receipts from those who donated gift cards to my stream, but understandably many people are not comfortable with it. So besides the receipts from the gift cards I received from family, I'm not sure what else I can provide.
It's been a few days, but I have not heard back from the "Account Specialists". I uploaded the receipt to the form online that I saw when trying to login. I'm thinking of sending it via fax as your post suggests. And I guess from there waiting for their response before calling and taking further steps.
Have you seen anyone in a similar situation get reinstated? I've grown pretty dependent on Amazon in the past year due to the pandemic, so it would really be a huge loss for me not being able to use them again in the future. I don't even mind losing the gift card balance I still had if that was the issue.
@Alex: you have clearly violated their terms and conditions as regards gift card usage. You obtained your cards from others sources other than directly from ama3or their authorized retailers. You have just a few options, beg them for leniency or open another account. However, if you have balance on your account, you can sue them to get it out. Please moving forward, don’t use gift cards to purchase huge items on amazon even if you obtain them directly from amazon let alone using gift cards gotten from unauthorised sources
Hi Lemmy, I figured that would be the case. Unfortunately, I never thought of it as an issue as lots of gamers take gift cards tips/donations too. I’ll try and send them a few emails to see what they can do for me. When you say make another account, do you meant to follow your steps of “How to Open A New Amazon Buyer/Personal/Business/Seller Account Without Traces”? Or simply just open a new account?
@Alex: Yes. That is the only way to make a new account.
Hello, I am mansoo bok
I am writing to you regarding my account issue.
My account is locked when I tried to purchase some products on Amazon. I think that it is because the billing address and shipping address are different. Let me explain why this thing happened.
I live in Korea but I used a shipping agent located in USA for some reasons. I guess it caused the identity verification issue. To help you understand, I attached the billing statement showing my name, my address in Korea as well as the file showing the address of the shipping agent I used. Hopefully, you are able to unlock my account so that I can purchase on Amazon.
If the files that I attached to you is not sufficient, please inform me what else I should attach to prove my identity.
I already “address-verification.com”
“Cs-reply.amazon.com” emailed you a few days ago but I could not heard anything from you. I hope to hear from you this time for your earliest convenience.
I appreciate your help in advance.
@mansoo: start by contacting amazon on twitter
My Amazon main buyer account is closed accidentally by a mistake when I called to customer service requesting for an account closure in UK. And along with that, my seller account which was set up with the same email address is also gone. BUT actually all my listings are still active for sale in the front and there are still orders and return requezts coming…
Now i cannot sign in to the account and it shows no valid account can be found with this email address.
I have been using this Amazon account for almost 20years and have never done anything violating Amazon’s policy . I paid for annual prime service and also have a lot of money there in the account. Am I able to reinstate my account? I am so desperate now. Can anybody please HELP!!! Thank you.
@LU: What offense have you committed? are you located in the UNITED states or Canada? You can try to sue them or complain via bb.org.
Hello Lemmy. My account was closed in early September after I placed an order using my account balance which was charged by my debit card. I replied the account specialist with the confirmation letter when I reloaded the balance and kept receiving the exact same automatic reply third times. Since then, I received nothing from Amazon even after I contacted CS through chat and phone. I also tried to send email to Jeff for help and got nothing as well. Finally, I filed a complaint on BBB yesterday after reading one comment on this site. Guess what? I just received an email said my account was reinstated and my balance was back. For the past three months, I was upset and kept searching information online and found your website. Your article really helped me calming down to solve this issue. Thank you so much, Lemmy. I am so glad to share my experience now. If you had made every effort to get your account reinstated but failed all the times, maybe BBB could help. At least, you could get in touch with some “real person”.
@Suki: I am so happy to hear your success story of getting your amazon account reinstated. are you based in the USA?
Hi Lemmy :
My account has been locked due to fraud. I provided proof to Amazon that i did not initiate the transactions nor I did this returns . The account shows that it was logged in Russia which I have never been there as I am in the US. I provided screenshots
I emailed all the contacts you provided above and one agent told me to open a new account under the same email and they will transfer all the information to the new account.
Each agent gives me an answer and I am a Vine Member which I get luxury stuff from Amazon and pay taxes on it later so there is no reason for me to buy anything and return it when I get almost anything I need from Amazon for just paying the taxes on it..
My questions are: Note my account is just a regular buyer account – I was in the top 1000 in the US in ranking reviews
1 – They have my SSN for Vine .. Can I open another account later maybe 1 year ?
2- I have been a month at it they open it for a day or two and close it again . Should I give up?
3- I created a new account under the same email as the agent advised me by email . Can they reopen my old account under the same email ?
Thanks
Steve
@steve: have you tried emailing jeff? I think your account has been compromised by some bad guys. If you open another account, they may link it and lock it immediately. There go to their twitter page first and try resolving things. If that fails, you may need to email jeff
@lemmy Thanks for your reply . I emailed Jeff and I got a response by email asking me to open a new account with the same email and they will port everything. As soon as I opened that account again it got flagged and emailed Jeff again but no luck
@steve: contect them on twitter an make sure you sent the email containing the reply from jeff.
secondly, maye you should also consider changing your device. who knows, your device might be compromised.
@Lemmy: I tried Twitter and I added Jeff too but no answer from his team and Amazon help is as bad as the phone . Basically all they do is refer me back to customer service . It is like a loop.
One rep advised me to dispute with my bank and after that they would open my account. I’m going to do that and see what will happen.
I’m in Wisconsin, and have had this account for a relatively short time, first account, i asked them to delete, out of anger, from their horrible chat support. Impulsive i guess you can say. when i opened up the second account, i used my paypal cash/credit mastercard..everything was fine after several purchases, until i received defective walkie talkies and had them returned. So the option for returning is ‘return funds back into amazon or to have funds put back into my amazon account..i figured it would be faster to just have them put back into my amazon account, and also so i could find a better pair of walkie talkies.
I then received this email:
Hello,
We have closed your account and canceled all outstanding orders.
We took these actions because you were using Amazon Gift Cards that are in violation of our Terms and Conditions. We cannot reissue the gift cards or reimburse you for these funds.
…i was literally like, are you effing kidding me???, THEY (amazon) are the ones that put the money back into my account from this return, and theyre claiming its a fraudulent gift card?..how does that even make sense?…. unfortunately, i could not prove my name and address, because paypals statements only put your name and email address at the top, i sent every type of statement, month, custom…nothing was ever good enough and they closed my account.
i literally cried to my husband over this, and i mean, they kept the 49.50 that was my money, and used by my paypal credit card,…and criminalized me. seriously i felt so upset and disgusted at this action.
I do need amazon, i need soups and certain things that are organic, that i cant get anywhere here.
i dont see anything in that email that says i’m banned forever, or cannot open another account.
so should i just open another account?
thanks for reading this,
Meems
I don’t think you can personally open another account successfully. If you open another account with your name, phone number or address, it will also be closed. By extension, anyone sharing the same address or name with you can’t help you out. There are certain things that triggers Amazon’s system. One of them is gift cards another one is returns. Ig you figure out opening another amazon account please use only your bank card. And don’t return items for the fun of it
Thank you, but i do take offense with ‘returning items for the fun of it’…there is nothing fun about going thru a return. having my husband take defective products back to a drop off location in the middle of a pandemic, is not fun. nor is keeping an item and being stuck with it, when its completely useless. Shouldnt be punished for not wanting to accept a sht product.
Thank you for letting me know that it was because of a return.
@Meems: It’s our world against Amazon’s. I am not saying that to spite you. I am simply simulating how amazon views certain things that make them react in certain ways. It is their rule and they run it any way they deem fit. It is sad, but it is what it is. I hope a real competition will come up to challenge them
Agree with everything you just said. I should take it for what it is. a blessing in disguise. I think i’ll purchase off struggling mom & pop shops online from now on, than a proprietary congolomerate that chooses automation to decide your fate,. Why do they all start out so nice, and humble and turn into greedy ego maniacs?…..google, facebook, …they all dropped their morals on the way to the bank….. I understand, thank you,
Meems
Hi, my account was put on hold because my credit card was compromised. I contacted my bank and Amazon and have received a new card. However, my account is still on hold after numerous attempts to reinstate it with Amazon. I have a three year old Amazon account (I never used) that I was able to get re
reinstated after speaking with CS. However, when I tried to make a purchase I received an email saying they needed further verification. I have a new credit card, that is used and I sent them the information from my credit card with my name, address and last four of the card. They said the account is closed now because they think it’s associated with another user. I am trying to open a new buyer account because I purchase all our daily needs from Amazon. I used my iPad to open the re-open the account. I don’t remember if I have ever used the iPad for Amazon, but before I did anything I deleted everything back to factory settings. I did not reinstall anything into the iPad. Then I used my iPhone as my hotspot, using my VPN and closing all locations and signing out of the cloud. I used the email that was reinstated by CS, a new credit card, a different phone number and the factory set iPad. What can I do to open a new account? Would it help if I purchased data for my iPad and used that instead of my hotspot from my iPhone? I’m in the US and not sure what else to do?
i think your ip address gave you out. everything must be fresh for you to use amazon. I mean your card must not carry the name of any user that has been previously suspended by amazon, you must not share internet from the same modem that someone with a suspended account has used. finally, if you must use the same device, make sure you don’t ever use the amazon app on a device on which an amazon account has previously been suspended. in other words, pick a browser that you have not used to login before and stick to it and make sure you uninstall their app and don’t ever click on links. better still buy a new device. did I also tell you that you can’t use the address that is linked to someone who has had his/her amazon account suspended?
Hi Lemmy,
Since it’s my first time opening an Amazon account and I don’t own a credit card, Amazon has closed my account, cause of using gift cards at Offgamers site. I’m not sure if that site is a 3rd party store. Since I have contacted the support center Offgamers they told me there was no problem with their cards, unless Amazon stated which codes caused my account to be closed.
It’s been a week already since I emailed Amazon and I have emailed them again today.
If the site where I’ve bought the cards is a 3rd party store. Kindly let me know, so that I don’t have to contact Amazon again.
@mellosaa: any seller that’s not listed on amazon’s site is 3rd party
Thank you for your response. Since I won’t be expecting emails responses from Amazon, will calling the support center help since I want them to send me proof that the store where I bought the Amazon gift cards are third party. I emailed offgamers for a refund, but they state that they need more proof from Amazon. I did spend out a lot of $ on Amazon gift card, it’s a waste if I don’t get my refund back.
@melisa: you can call them but I don’t think they will help. Please Google Amazon
Hello, Meylissa, my experience is the same as yours, but I bought a gift card on Taobao.com in China. , I am also the first time a user to shop on Amazon in the United States. Amazon seems to be unwilling to tolerate the use of third-party gift cards to pay for goods. I have been in contact with Amazon for a month. At first, Amazon said it was closing my account. Then a month later, I received emails saying that they instructed to suspend the account. After a month, I continued to receive emails that your account continued to be closed. . I’ve been tossing back and forth for three months now, it’s almost meaningless, but I wish you good luck
Thank you for your reply. It is unfortunate to hear that. But did you get a refund from Taobao? Since Amazon doesn’t accept cards from 3rd party.
I was planning to ask a refund back from Offgamers, since I spend a lot of $ on the Amazon cards. I just hope Amazon could give me some proof that I can get my refund back.
@Melissa H: Your card seller should give you that refund
Hey Lemmy, thanks for this informative post, I wish I found something this informative before placing orders that led to my account’s “temporary suspension” according to Amazon. I am quite a novice when it comes to buying on Amazon, even though my account should be more than 2 years in age, I have never bought any item until recently. It happened that I needed some devices and I thought it good to order them from Amazon. I have been trying to pay directly with my Naira MasterCard but it appears the recent forex restrictions put in place by Nigerian banks led to my card being declined. So I sought an alternative. I bought bitcoin and then exchanged the bitcoins for Amazon gift cards on Paxful. I was just naive; my expectations were, I’ll just load the gift cards and boom! I’ll checkout my cart.. with no hassles, unfortunately, the reverse is now the case. About 2 minutes after checking out my cart, I got a mail from noreply@amazon.com saying:
“Hello,
We have suspended your orders and Amazon account because we detected unusual activity on it. You can help us unlock your account by logging in to your account and following the on-screen instructions.
Please note that you will not be able to access your account or place orders with us until we confirm your information.
Sincerely,
Amazon.com”.
When I attempt to login, I am faced with a screen that says:
“Account locked temporarily
We noticed unusual payment activity on your account and need to verify ownership of the payment method used on your most recent order”
The above message is followed by some fields named “Enter Billing Details” & “Attach Supporting Documents”.
Presently, I am quite confused as to what to do and where to start from as the paxful seller seems not to have receipts for all the cards.
I don’t know how to prove my innocence & naivety to Amazon amidst all these country stereotype and odds.
I redeemed the cards one after the other with about 10 mins interval until it reached $600 (the value of my cart).
Do you have any advice for me Lemmy? I’ll really appreciate any heads up right now.
I am so frustrated right now cos my expectations were quite far from the reality unfolding.
@enny: it is so sad to hear this. However, at this point, the deal is already done and you have just less than a 50% chance of recovering your account.
Hello, I am a blind person from China.
I don’t have a job in China at the moment and can’t apply for a credit card that can support paying orders at Amazon.
I had to find a third party to buy two gift cards to pay for my study materials, but after paying for the order, I received an email that Amazon closed my account

We have closed your account and canceled all outstanding orders.

Then I chat with online customer service and they ask me to call and fill in the information.
Then they responded to an email like this
Then they responded to an email like this
It’s been a month since then. I’ve sent a lot of messages and materials, but they haven’t responded. I’ve also sent an email to Jeff, but I haven’t received any response
In this case, can my account be restored
@once you have sent a mail to jeff and no response, I am afraid, your account may be gone for good. using 3rd party gift cards is a sin on amazon
It turned out to be so! Thank you for your answer. I just hope they will not block my delivery address.
The last email I received was like this
Your Amazon.com order cannot be shipped

At present, my new account has not been shopping, but the locked account is also a new account, indicating that it has been registered for a year. I have no job in China, and the bank basically refuses to apply for credit card
If I apply for a credit card and make a purchase, I don’t know whether my new account will be frozen
@joe: if you use a credit card, you won’t have account suspension unless yu are using a hacked credit card.
Well, thank you very much for your answer. Finally, I would like to ask you, is there any chance for my old account to be restored after my first shopping
This is the reply I got after the email I sent to Jeff. Later I have been sending emails to the account specialist and Jeff, but there has been no news. I don’t expect my account to be restored, I just hope that I won’t be banned when I have a credit card

I sent the last email to the account specialist before receiving this email, but I also sent it to Jeff before that. But until now, I have not received any messages
@joe: if you send a message to jeff, you need to wait for at least 7 working days for a reply
Yes, the last email I received was September 12 of last month. I can say that I have been sending an email with Amazon executives and account specialist to explain my situation and helpless payment method for a month, but I have not received any reply. I think the possibility of restoring the account is not very high
Finally, thank you very much for Lemmy’s reply
A few years ago, I was shopping in Amazon Japan for the first time, and it was a success to place an order with a gift card
This time I encountered such a sad experience when shopping on Amazon in the United States. A few days ago, I can still log in to my Japanese Amazon account, and there is still a few thousand yen gift card balance in my account. Today I logged in to Amazon Japan and received a mobile verification code URL link. When I visited, it was prompted that there was a problem processing the request. We are trying to solve this problem until it is completely solved. Is this the consequence of sending an email to Jeff, which led to the suspension of my Japanese Amazon account? I am very sad now
@Jorlinhu: why did you send a message to jeff in the first place. the major problem here is about amazon.com not amazon.jp
This is the case. At the beginning, I used a third-party gift card to pay for goods. I was not sure about Amazon’s policies and the account could not be restored.
Then I searched this article on Google and decided to email Jeff. I was a little anxious at the time. The content of the email was very simple. I didn’t even know that Jeff was the president of Amazon. Then I sent my current situation to the account specialist, and then I received the last email above.
I finally received the last email from the account specialist last night. They still decided that the account was closed due to the use of the gift card in violation of the policy. However, I contacted amazon.jp customer service yesterday and the customer service told me that the jp account is normal. In China, you need to use vpn to access jp Amazon. This vpn may not be very good and the account cannot be logged in
Finally, thanks again to lemmy for the answer
Then attach last night’s email content

@Kelvin Following-up my last post.
I finally got it sorted. One of the “Account Specialist” claimed he/she unlocked sucessfully and turns out it doesn’t. I have to keep sending email and calling the hotline for help. Fianlly got my account unlocked after submitting my document the third time.
1. Apperently the “Account Specialist” may not see your email for whatever reason. (The automatic response is pretty much meaningless) If you email them and does not get a response after 24 or 48 hours. Do it again.
2. After sending email, ask the @AmazonHelp Twitter account for a number to call. Call this number and politely ask the representative to communicate with the Account Specialist for looking into your issues sooner.
3. Patient and polite, but also persist.
My tips:
1. Read Lemmy’s well written post again and again, make sure you didn’t miss his points.
2. It’s normal to be fusturated and even angry. Stay cool, polite and professional in the communications, that would help you a lot. Not only to Amazon, nearly every company allows their employees to end the communication and put you on the blacklist if you abuse them. If you find difficulties to keep clam or not sure if you get the correct tone (as English could be your second language, like me), ask a friend for help.
3. @AmazonHelp cannot help you directly, but they response extremely quick and prompt. Tweet them to ask for general inforamtion and contact numbers.
4. Unless Amazon change their workflow, I could forsee any using any cards that does not issue formal card statements will cost you an Amazon account, as they seemed don’t accept other proofs. Therefore, I would recommend *only* use a card that issues “formal” statement – a print-friendly PDF / hardcopy card statements that includes your name and billing address. Use a card on Amazon only after the first statement has been issued – i.e. you always have a card statement to submit immedidately in case they lock your account. If you changed your address, may be it’s a good idea to temporary not shopping on Amazon before you have new card statements with the new address.
5. Always review your details in your Amazon account, clean up cards, address and phone numbers you no longer uses.
6. Do not use other’s cards on your account. Everyone shall using their own cards on their own account only. Consider Amazon Household for family shopping if that’s applicable to you.
Finally, thanks Lemmy.
@kelvin: i am glad you had it sorted out. And, thanks for you valuable contribution by the way.
Hi Lemmy
I was using my account to get pc parts off amazon and I was going to order my very last part so I purchased a $440 amazon and a couple hours after the purchase I was emailed this…
Hello,
We have canceled your order and voided your current gift card balance.

=====================
I have been constantly emailing I been emailing them pictures of the receipt (like they asked) and I sent them paragraphs stating the purchase is not suspicious and Ive been as polite as possible
I have also have been calling them but no luck
Until recently they emailed that my account has been closed
I am losing hope and I feel as if Ill never get my account back
@donuts: the email you copied here didn’t indicate that your account was closed. When did you receive the account closure email from them?
Just Googled this page after a restless night.
If I have known it would trigger a fraud alarm, I wouldn’t recharge my account’s gift card balance with a bigger amount – Yes, I got my account locked simply because I recharge the balance, not even going to buy anything yet. Out of curiosity, I called the card issuer and they claimed there were no authorization/transaction requests from Amazon.
Unfortunately for me, the card in question was issued less than a month ago, which does not even have its first card statement yet. Amazon Account Specialist rejected my other proofs and warning that they will close my account if they don’t receive the card statement they requested. The fortunate part is that the card issuer representative is so nice and helpful to change my statement cycle which could help me to get my next statement sooner, but that still need a few days. I am so worried Amazon will just simply delete my account tomorrow, forever, with all my Kindle books gone.
Lemmy, I am in anxiety at this moment. In your opinion, how likely that I can get my account back? I am using my own card on my account. I am not a frequent shopper but my account has a long history – close to or even passed 10 years, I played by rules and I never return/refund anything. I am still in shock by the fact that they just simply lock my account simply over a recharge transaction. I am also wondering if they believe some credit cards are fraudulent, why would they not implement 2FA/secure code they let the card issuer verify and authorize the transaction?
If they still refuse to reinstate my account even I submitted the exact card statement they have requested, do you think I it is wise to escalate my case to Jeff right away?
@Kelvin: your location/country of residence will paly a huge role here. if you are in the USA, please provide them with all the requests. If they still wouldn’t open your account, contact amazon’s help on twitter. Hopefully, if that fails, word a very polite and professional request to Jeff.
As a last resort, that is if you are in the USA, I pray it doesn’t get to that point YOU can sue them and get back every dime. However, you can’t force them to reinstate your account.
@james: the mistake you made was trying to purchase another high end electronic after your first warning suspension. You can try and contact amazon on twitter this time around. If they ever opened it for you again, please don’t buy such high end items with a gift card any more. But some other things. If you must buy that laptop, please use your
@lemmy what kind of items would you have advice i purchase and what of if i email any of the amazon executive with the same issue do you think they can help
@James: try that out sir
Hello this happened to me
I bought 3 GC with btc from bitrefill…
1 x 35$ and 2 x 2000$ amazon gift cards, one day apart
And the next day I made my order for 4030 $
They send me the first alert, I replyed to their first email asking for receipts of the gift card, I send it to them, but I did not notice if they have taken my balance off at first, after I send it the receipts was that I saw I have my 4k balance intact, not sure if they never took it
Can I buy several small stuff together, with articles mostly around 100$ and only two products that cost 200$ and 230$, all will be like 800$ ?
Because I actually wanted to buy a 4k $ order.. so it would be one shippment… I never thought that could be too expensive
But I guess I could split it in two 800 $ orders at different dates,
and then buy the laptop (1700$) last, just in case that does not go well at least I would have taken most of my balance out of amazon..
@Luis: that was a very high balance. You actually need to be very careful. Is your billing address and shipping address in the USA?

Hello Lammy, it will be great if you can help me with this.
I opened an account on Amazon and filled in my bank account details for the 30days free trial. Immediately, my account was debited with the sum of #6,652.75.
The description of the debitor was POS/WEB PMT BUFFALO BUFFALOOOUS. After some seconds, the amount was refunded to my bank acount. After this, I tried to use my new amazon account to get a free audiobook, my acount was locked instantly and I was asked to provide the billing details of my payment method. I didn’t understand what this mean but I provided the details of my bank account and attached the screenshot of the debit alert I got. I later received an email from Amazon stating that my details are insufficient to unlock my Amazon account.
Since then, I’ve not been able to do anything at all on the account. I’ve been on this for almost a week now and it has really sapped my energy. I need to know what to do.
Amazon is requesting for the details of my payment method for an order I made but I didn’t order anything. All efforts to resolve this issue has also proved futile.
I tried to send them an email but all their email addresses accessible does not support reply. The number I got, 1-800-388-5512 is also saying incorrect whenever I dial it. I don’t know if that is due to the fact that I’m located in Nigeria.
Please what else can I do and how can this issue be resolved?
Thank you.
@Ifeoluwa: you have a high chance of recovering your account. which bank are you using? what you need to send to amazon is your card statement or your bank statement. Also, read this post https://www.lemmymorgan.com/reinstate-suspended-amazon-buyers-account/ and call their support on the line provided there

What just happened to me is not to believe. I have an aunt who lives in the United States, recently she lost everything she had, the bank took her home, her car and she was ruined. Then the family decided to send money to her from our country (Colombia). Since sending money by WU or MG is too expensive, I decided to buy an Amazon gift card from my own account and send it to her. It was only 500 dollars. When she redeemed the card, her account was immediately suspended. They did not give me any refund for this so I decided to write to the support asking why I had not reimbursed the money from the gift card that had not been used. They replied that they would not make any refund. Then I told them that that was not right because the gift card could not be used because they had suspended the account for no reason and I warned them that if they did not give me a refund I would go to the bank to report the action as fraudulent, indeed their response It was that they would not make any refund and they sent me a telephone number to which I could communicate for more information. So since I didn’t get the refund I requested, I approached the bank to carry out the due process and oh! surprise. One day after the bank reversed the payment, my account was also suspended.
@Johan Camilo Frai: You mean you bought the card directly from amazon with your bank credit/debit card? And they went ahead to suspend your account because you called for a refund on the card not used? Amazon is losing it Very soon, only US citizens would be allowed to trade on their platform.
Has Amazon stop this act of banning buyer account
@Seun: they haven’t
My account is closed. I want to open other account. I have one Bank account number only. Before I was using Google pay(tej) for payment. If I open new account in new mobile with different details and using same account number but different UPI address, like phone pe. Can I do so so that they can’t trace my account?
@Pratap: I am sorry about that but you sincerely need to new bank detail for you to avoid been traced. Why did they close your account in the first place?
Amazon suspended my account on the 25th of June this year. I tried everything, explaining to them how I got the cards because they were low value cards, so I had to stack up a lot of them. They wouldn’t listen to what I was saying. I sent emails to the men at the upper echelon, Jeff and Dave, and I got my account permanently closed instantly. I even left a complaint on bbb.org and they replied that they couldn’t do anything. I woke up today and an email stating that they had reinstated my account was in my mailbox. I’m going to buy best buy gift cards and shop there, I’m not going to risk amazon ramming me in the arse anymore.
@Greek Gott: are you a resident of the united states?
How much gift card balance were you having as at the time of the account suspension?
What was the last thing you did before the account was reinstated? Share you steps to help others
Good day, Lemmy!
If a person has a Buyer account that is locked or closed by Amazon, then can that person open an Amazon Associate account safely? Would the Associate Account be linked to the Buyer one and banned as well?
@peter: you need an active amazon account in order to open an amazon associate account
Lenny, None of this applies to me my account as a buyer for a small business has been suspended for 15 days or so now. We are a very new small business only opened our doors 2 weeks ago. No address changes nor email changes. No non payment, One $20 item came damaged in our first $900 order and was credited. Then one morning An Account Suspened for misuse of Services. NO One at AMazon will tell me what that means exactly. They say it could be we tried to log in with the wrong passcode . But if that is the case even my Chase bank account has a way to remedy that quite easy. Or on another call they say my credit card addr is different from my shipping address. This is true but not a crime. I get my credit card statement sent to my house and of course the product sent to our very new business. The customer service people maintain polite composure when we speak. But at the end of the call some wil say this and I quote. I understand your frustration, I would be frustrated also and I HOPE the security team resolves this isse one day. As a consumer do I have legal rights from being denied access when I can say I have done nothing wrong and the lack of being able to get low cost product could lead to my company having to pay more from various vendors instead of the low prices at Amazon. I cannot compete on a level playing having to pay higher prices. I live in the US . I am not buying electronics, I have never changed addresses , Nover used an Amazon Gift Card and after reading the horror stories will never use one. IS it legal to capriously closed and account of a customer and refuse to say more. Yes I have sent to two page written letter overnight delivery and no reply.
@M.K Caiado: You have a good case against them. Please answer the following questions
1. do you have any fund trapped in the account?
2. have you contacted amazon on twitter using the following link? https://twitter.com/AmazonHelp?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor
Start with that and see what happens.
In all this, you need to be honest and detailed with your explanation while dealing with amazon. At the same time, don’t say what you are not asked.
@LemmyMorgan:
So, I sent an e-mail to their enquiry e-mail and I got a response:
“Dear Yuri,
According to our records we have not yet processed your inquiry. However, this is no reason for concern. Our team responsible for faxes and letters is currently processing more inquiries than usual. The processing time therefore may be longer than usual. Unfortunately we don’t have the possibility to give single inquiries priority.
We apologize for any possible delay.
Please be assured, however, that you will receive an answer via e-mail as soon as your letter / fax inquiry is processed.
We hope this information has been helpful. Thank you for shopping with Amazon.de.
Warmest regards,
Alfred Madumo”
But if they don’t fix it on the 4 days you just told me, I’ll do as you said and contact Jeff, and explain them about my moving and this e-mail!
Thank you so very much for the help!
I’ll keep you posted!
Hey Lemmy!
So I recently moved to Germany (from Brazil) and so I updated my address location to here, and also my phone number and everything. Then I bought some stuff for the new house I got, but then I got these e-mails:
“Good day,
We have provisionally suspended your orders and your Amazon account because we noticed unusual activity in it. You can help us unlock your account by logging in to your account and follow the instructions on the screen.
Please note that you can access again until your account and place orders after we have verified your information.
Friendly greetings
Amazon.de
https://www.amazon.de”
So I accessed my account again and filled what they requested of me. Afterwards I got a different e-mail:
“Good day,
We have provisionally suspended your orders and your Amazon account because we noticed unusual activity in it.
You can help us to solve this problem by logging in at Amazon.de and the on-screen instructions
followed in order to verify the billing information for your bank account ending in XX.
Please note that you can access again until your account and place orders after we have verified your information.
Friendly greetings
account specialist
Amazon.de”
But if I access my account, it shows no on-screen instructions and it shows:
“Your information has been reviewed.
The information you supplied was reviewed by Amazon but we cannot unlock your account at this time. For details, check for an email or text message from Amazon describing next steps. Please contact us for further concerns.”
And I never got this e-mail, and somehow, one of my order was already dispatched and everything. But I can’t see my order list anymore, nor update my info, nor anything,
@yuri galiza: call amazon call center and request to be transferred to an account supervisor. If they don’t solve your account within 4 business days, send an email with the full details of the issue you are having to jeff@amazon.com and wait for 5 business days for a response. Best of luck. The key to your getting your account back is transparency and not holding back any information. Let them know you just changed location
My account functions just as normal.. Just don’t know what all this is all about, having gotten an email from Amazon saying my gift card balance is voided but my gift card balance remains unchanged. Everything looks fine.
P.S wouldn’t let me reply to your comment directly.
@vic: that’s a system warning. Are you located in the United States?
Hello Lemmy.
Just received this email from Amazon after placing an oder that includes a PS4 and some game disks. My gift card balance of about #400 is still there though.. Can I go ahead and reorder with it? Do I risks having my account permanently banned? I don’t even know what to think anymore.

Hi. My account was suspended due to fraudulent activity. Was I in the wrong yes. My ex boyfriend credit card info was still in my payment options and i bought multiple items. My question is what happens to the purchases I’ve already made. Does it matter if the have shipped or not. I really want those items.
@Cayana: If they have shipped, you have nothing lose. Otherwise, the items will be cancelled and you will not receive a refund except you can challenge them in the law court
Hi,I think this is too much from amazon,is no longer safe to use amazon.amazon is the king of fraud
@Tolu: Amazon is indeed fraudulent. Where is all the money that they are withholding going?
My amazon seller account got suspended and after writing series of emails and going through several procedures, they still didn’t release my account until i was introduced to hacklord. He was able to help me re-instate my account and generate multiple positive reviews, he did an amazing job..you should contact him if you’re having this same issue with any seller account!
really a nice work you got here and must sure admit i have learnt alot. though i have been shopping from amazon long time before now until i got my funds on hold as i tried out shopping with gift card. it seemed all good at first until i was emailed about my account suspension. i call them almost every day and has always been asked the same task of refaxing these gift cards. the last was even card statement which my local bank couldnt provide but suggest the account statement alongisde a receipt of my card transact from an atm which were all sent to them. i have sent emails to address-verification@amazon.com as well and the executives you suggested. but i just got an email in respect of a message replied on behalf of jeff himself station my email may not be further replied on the same note. can you help with any advice because the other customer rep i spoke to earlier today suggested i email the account specialits. just confused as am not ready to llose my money on here…
@Kim: what is the source of your gift card? Did you buy them yourself from their authorized stores?
Is there any format the fax to amazon is supposed to follow?
I mean the cover sheet and subject of the fax
@Wlter: no particular format. Just make sure you present very information required of you
I just received automated response from amazon specialist, but still waiting for there real message

My account was on hold with no reason but my problem is that I use phone number to type, I didn’t use email so I don’t know the means I can be contacted.
@Obafemi Idowu: contact account specialist via email address-verification@amazon.com or call their line
My account too was on hold for no reason and the problem there is That I only use phone number, I didn’t use email and I don’t know how they can contact me on my phone number, I even use my email that is not link to my account to message them but still no response.
@obafemi: have you received a message from them on why your account was closed?

@Arock: it is wrong to buy a gift card with btc.
I have my gift card receipts but it’s from 10 different locations and people. Will Amazon accept this from me
@opey: they will accept so long you bought them from their authorised retailers. But the issue of gift cards is beyond that. Amazon now view it as an avenue to launder m on money. So, if you have a very high amazon gift card balance on your account, Amazon will suspend your account as this will trigger their fraud alert
Hello my Amazon account was locked. At first I was asked to send my statement with billing address. But I later got an email to send my gift card balance. I have sent them my billing statement and all but I have not gotten a reply yet from them
@opey: since when did you send the necessary things to them? Have you tried calling them on the phone?
@Lemmy Morgan : Have you service unlock account amazon ?
Thanks
@truong: can you please explain better what you mean?
Amazon is on the way to bankrupt I guess because they treating customers like a shit
Lemmy,
I never redeemed any GC. I only do GC reload with my bank debit card. Yes, I tried customer support, twitter help and other means but no one responds. Surprisingly I never got response to Jeff ‘s email.
@James: You didn’t provide me with the first email you received when Amazon suspended your account. You can send that to me via email.
We need to reset the whole process. You must call them and ask to be transferred to your accountmanager/supervisor. Tell him/her what happens and we can take it from there.
Hi Lemmy,
My account was closed on 17th Dec 2018 for reason “We took these actions because either the Amazon Gift Card or the Amazon Gift Card balance you are using is in violation of Terms and Conditions. …..you the gift card.”
I have never used any third party GC reloads, all GC realoads I do are for Amazon.com purchases, my billing details are correct. I sent that the verification document they asked for via fax. I patiently waited for over month for the account specialist team to reply and for customer care to help but nothing worked then I wrote an email to ecr-replies@amazon.com but got no response after waiting for more than 5 days and then I wrote email to jeff@amazon.com about the whole issue, I waited for few days but didn’t receive response even from jeff’s email id. I am not receiving any response from any of the Amazon’s team. My account is very old, I didn’t violate any of Amazon’s policy to my knowledge, I believe my suspension is incorrect yet I receive no response from Amazon, what best can be done in this case? Please help
@James: I am so sorry about your situation but Amazon takes issues of gift cards and gift cards balance seriously. Can you please answer the following questions?
1. What’s the the amount of agc balance you have as at the time your account was suspended?
2. What item were you trying to purchase prior to the suspension?
Hi Lemmy,
Thanks for your reply.
1. I use to do $600-1000 reload for frequent purchases
2. I used to purchase products mainly in computers&accessories and supplements. (I never purchased mobile phone or mobile phone accessories)
@James: Your regular gift card balance is suspicious to Amazon. This is so true especially when you said you redeem the cards as against reloading them.
Now to the possible solutions, you need to send the message you received from Amazon when the accounts were terminated to this comment box.
As for you not getting a reply, are you sure you used the email you registered with on Amazon? Have you ever tried calling Amazon support at all? You need to exhaust every avenue to resolve this with the regular Amazon support before venturing into contacting their executive. Please reset the whole process by calling amazon customer service or by sending a DM to amazonhelp on twitter.
I have never redeem any GC, I reload my balance using my debit card.
I tried twitter, Amazon customer support and writing to all executives but received no reply from everywhere.
@James: call the number on this post https://www.lemmymorgan.com/reinstate-suspended-amazon-buyers-account/. there is no way they won’t pick it.
Can I try calling HQ’s number?
@James: call their customer care number.
Lemmy, they pick the call, but all they say is that “We would submit a form to account specialist team, you will receive response from them in 24-48 hours” and that never worked in last 60 days. I sent multiple email to account specialist team over 60 days never did they reply even once. I didn’t violate any of Amazon’s policy, provided them the verification document they needed, yet they do not tell me why they can’t reinstate my account. I am suprised even writing to Amazon executive even Jeff@amazon.com is not working, they didn’t reply me even once although I sent them multiple emails. This is very sickening.
@James: the content of your email must have pissed them off. Secondly, you don’t need to send multiple emails. Once you send one, wait for two weeks for a reply and send to another executive. Number one rule to getting your Amazon account reinstated is to contain your emotion and be very polite when writing to the executives. Sending multiple emails to the same email is considered an act of desperation and rudeness by Amazon executives. They will surely ignore such email.
I will advise you to use an email that you have never used before to send them a message. But this time, be calm and polite.
Lemmy, I sent them multiple emails over last 60 days, I have waited for more than week most of the item to receive a reply, when I don’t receive a reply in 7 days I would send them another email. For all emails I sent 45 days under my suspension, I was extremely polite and professional in writing them an email but never received any response, only after 45 days when there was no help that naturally pissed me off. A few days back I dropped an email to cis@amazon.com as well, haven’t heard back from them too yet.
@Jagadish: send them a message with an email other than the one you used in creating your Amazon account that you have been using all along
Dropped an email to jeff from another email id 11 days back, that didn’t work as well. Didn’t receive any response. The way Amazon has been behaving is unjustified, looks like they have reached a point where they don’t care of customers anymore.
@James: I think they new careless. I remember when they withheld my 490usd balance for just no apparent reasons. And guess what, they didn’t reply my email. The best thing nowadays is not to get into their bad books.
Hello Lemmy, please what does it mean to use an account related to one that has been closed?? I was told this but I’m sure I don’t have this at all. Kindly help.
@bukola: maybe your friend, relatives or you share the same address or iptv with someone who has been banned by Amazon
