Sometimes last year, I published an article on the legality or otherwise of IPTV. I explained a whole lot about why IPTV can cause legal issues. Today, we shall be acquainting ourselves with matters that bother Official vs. 3rd-Party IPTV services.
Two questions arise from this key phrase.
- Does Official IPTV exist? If yes, what are official/direct IPTV subscriptions?
- How can I subscribe to an IPTV service that is safe and secure?
Especially relevant:

Official vs. 3rd-Party IPTV Viewing: Definition of Terms
What is an Official IPTV subscription?: Official IPTV subscription is a situation whereby you are using your Internet Protocol television (IPTV) services directly from the office of the content provider or their representative. If you are utilizing any IPTV services that you have duly procured from the source of the content, then you are using an Official IPTV subscription.
In addition to the above, your usage of officially recognized IPTV cannot cause any injury to anyone. Secure or safe IPTV does not necessarily translate to official IPTV. An IPTV subscription may be secure and safe to use but unofficial. Now let us consider the word “secure/Safe IPTV viewing.”
What is secure or safe IPTV viewing?
By secure IPTV subscription, we mean a situation where your subscription will remain safe and unthreatened, Protected against threats. You can compromise your security if you subscribe to insecure IPTV. In a nutshell, IPTV service obtained directly from the content providers is secure. Security in this context relates to the user’s privacy protection.
Pre-requisites for official IPTV Services
- First, you need to get the subscription directly from the content providers. For example, subscribe to DStv Nigeria’s super sports channels if you want to watch DStv now. If you want sky sports, get live service and so on.
- Pay only to the original content providers or their representatives and not to any other group.
Types of Official IPTV Service
Interestingly, paid official IPTV has more exciting programs than free unofficial ones. I have compiled a short list of some popular IPTV services that are official, safe, and secure. You can get more from this article.

How can I use an IPTV subscription Officially?
You can use IPTV in three ways without the fear of the long arm of the law.
- Buy the subscription from the original content providers or their authorized agents.
- Two, collect the login details from anyone you know with an active subscription lying idle. For example, if I have a Netflix account that I seldom use because of lack of time, I can conveniently give the login details to those I trust who will use it. Also, you can download the apps for those services. In the US, Fox and Fox Sports 1 will cover the World Cup in English, and Telemundo and NBC Universo will do it in Spanish. In the UK, MENA, and Asia, Bein sports connect now in the rest of Africa, DStv. It’s BBC and ITV that are transmitting the games. In Canada, go to CTV/TSN.
- Watch free IPTV services. The list includes but is not limited to youtube, Facebook videos, and lots more that you can read up here.
Official vs. 3rd-Party IPTV: Are there any associated risks to using 3rd-party/insecure IPTV?
As expected, 3rd parties or black-market IPTV subscriptions come with risks. These risks include the risk of prosecution by the original content owner or risk to the user’s privacy. For this reason, below is a summary of how you can secure yourself while using IPTV.
- Make sure you use a VPN service. Vpn will anonymize your identity. A VPN is essential whether you are using an official IPTV or not. Examples of some good VPN software include
- VyprVPN
- ExpressVPN
- PureVPN
- IPVanish
2. Buy your IPTV hardware only from recognized and trusted stores. Also, make sure no preloaded app comes with it. You should be able to load what you want. Ensure you buy an IPTV box that is not known to have any pirated app preloaded. For example, Android smart tv, Anmax box, or equivalents.
3. This is for those who wish to use 3rd party IPTV services(be warned, these services are shrouded in piracy controversies); make buyer you buy them only with inaccurate information like a fake email.
4. Do not purchase any IPTV service with your ATM card. Use a cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin.
5. Another mistake most users of unofficial IPTV make is that they commercialize it. If you must use an unofficial IPTV service, please don’t buy and resell. Do not turn it into a money-spinning venture. That way, you can be safe and escape lawsuits.
6. You must read the remainder of the “how to use IPTV without leaving any traces” article here.
I live in Norway, but I’m connecting to USA servers and watch American Netflix… However, I’m using not mentioned VPN here (mine is NordVPN), as I’ve tried VyprVPN and found it a little bit slower for watching 4k videos.
@Gustav: NordVPN is a very good VPN as well.
scenario: I live in Canada and I want to watch and U.S fox sports channel. How can The Channel or even the U.S Govt charge me or sue if I never go to U.S.
@Rick: If you a group or a company in Canada has the exclusive rights to broadcast US Fox sports channels, then that company would be the one to sue you not the original owner from the USA. Fox will get their money whether their rep in Canada makes a profit or not. You can read this for more insights: https://www.lemmymorgan.com/about-intellectual-property-meaning-and-protection/
ok let us reverse scenario. In the US you cannot watch all Vancouver Canucks games because a Canadian company sportsnet has exclusive rights and nhl does and cannot broadcast. I cannot order or watch those particular games and since those games are not broadcast anywhere else, where is the loss of income to sue me. I think it is 12 games and the same goes for a show or channel from around the world . I hope u understand and of course this applies to both sat and iptv. Even though they may hold the rights, if they have no programming available in my country or other countries, how can they go after loss of income?
@Rick: Your explanation is nw clearer. Unfortunately, in most cases, people tend to watch contents that some group already have exclusive rights to in their region illegally. If we only attempt to what programs that are not available locally, we won’t have as much piracy issues as we are having now.

Hi, I would like to subscribe to a reliable IPTV provider so I can receive Sky Sports, BT Sports and Films and UK Programmes etc without paying extortionate fees etc. I live in Malta and I already own a OSMC Vero 4K Box and a T8-S Droidbox but I am a bit of a Dinosaur on these Technical Devices at 72 years old. I have also subscribed to NORDVPN for 2 years but I am not sure how to install it on my Samsung Smart TV or any of these Devices. I would be obliged if someone could give me advice or help….Regards. Terence
