Sony Xperia J is a powerful smartphone with loads of capabilities. The good news here is that you can now root sony Xperia j easily. In addition, you can also install ClockworkMod recovery. Here is a detailed tutorial to help you with necessary procedures on how to root Xperia J and then install ClockworkMod recovery on it.

Additional Info On Rooting Warning:
Once your device is rooted, the warranty will get void; However, you can reclaim the warranty by applying the official firmware update. To check if you successfully rooted your device or not install an app called “Root Checker” that available for download from Google PLAY store for free.
Final Reminder:
- Rooting your Xperia J will void manufacturer warranty.
- Though root usually not affect your phone data but it’s advisable to follow pre-requisites that we mentioned below as precaution.
- By following this instruction you will get Root and CWM recovery.
- This root process only tested in 11.0.A.3.28 or 11.0.A.3.18 firmware. This method doesn’t work on devices that running 11.0.A.7.5 Firmware.
Pre Requisites Before Rooting a Device:
Backup your data first using below mentioned instructions, so that if you lost any data you can recover it easily.
FOR SMS & Call Log – Use SMS, MMS & Call Log Entries Backup & Restore App Downloadable from googleplay
FOR Your Contacts & Settings – Use Android default backup options.
For your Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to Internal/External SD card or to an hard drive on your computer.
For APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
And lastly for WhatsApp Messenger – Simply backup from WhatsApp backup setting
Requirements:
- Make sure your device have at least 50% battery power
- Also make sure you already have USB Driver Installed for Xperia J in your PC [you can search this blog for android USB driver].
- Enable USB Debugging from settings>>Developers Options otherwise you won’t able to transfer file between PC and mobile.
If you can access your Xperia J data by connecting it to your computer then you already have the driver installed but if not then do the following:
HOW TO INSTALL THE DRIVERS FOR XPERIA J:
- Download ST26.zip and extract it on your computer.
- Download Flash Tool and install it.
- Open Flash Tool and then connect your Xperia J with computer.
- Now click on Devices and then select Import on Flash Tool.
- Navigate the extracted file (see step 1) and select it. Xperia J driver will be installed.

Procedures to root Sony Xperia J and Install ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM Recovery)
- Extract Root_J.zip on your computer. You will get Runme.bat with few other files.
- Now double click on Runme.bat in your computer (running on Windows OS). The rooting process will start. Wait for CWM_J.zip process to finish.
- You now have a rooted Xperia J smartphone. Now time to install ClockworkMod recovery on it.
- Extract CWM_J.zip on your computer. You will get Runme.bat with few other files.
- Now double click on Runme.bat in your computer (running on Windows OS). The CWM recovery installation process will start. Wait for the process to finish.
- Close the command window if it not done automatically. Now restart your Xperia J.
You are done all that is left for you to do is to start installing apps that require root access.
