It is very important for you to first backup your Data to an external source like your computer harddrive, external sd card, e.t.c and also make sure you have a minimum of 50% of battery power left on your device.

Steps  to Unlock Boot loader of HTC One X Plus:

• Visit “http://www.htcdev.com/” and create yourself an account on HTCDEV to download the fastboot files in your computer. Once downloaded, now make a new folder in your device named as fastboot.

• Next you will have to visit http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/ and select “All Other Supported Models” and “then begin unlock boot loader” and then tick both the options to proceed. Now, you will have to power off your phone by holding the power button down for 5-7 seconds (the three keys will flash a few times then it will power off. After this, you will have to press and hold the Volume down button after which the device will boot into the HBOOT.

• Now Select Fast boot With Volume + or- then press Power once after which the device will land in the fast boot mode and then plug your phone into your PC and open a Command Prompt to enter the below mentioned commands,

cd c:\fastboot

fastboot oem get_identifier_token

Now from the HTC Dev Website, you will have to copy the code paste the same at the bottom of the HTC page and submit it.

Once this has been submitted, within few minutes you will receive an email with a link to download the “Unlock_code.bin”. Now, in the command prompt, enter the below mentioned command,

fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin

Now, the screen will change and then press Vol + to accept and power to confirm.

What you have just done is that you have successfully unlocked the bootloader of your HTC One X  plus smartphone.

Steps to Root HTC One X +:

• Enable the USB Debugging Option from the path “Settings > Development Options”. After this, connect your phone to the computer with the help of original USB cable and download the RootBoot.zip package to extract and open “Rootboot.bat” file in your computer.

• Once the RootBoot app is opened, press Enter and then the process of rooting will commence. Once the rooting is done, the same will be mentioned on screen. Disconnect the device and download the Superuser app from the Google PLAY Store and update the binaries. Also, you need to download the “ROM Manager” app from the Google PLAY Store as this will be required in the coming days to come.

• To check on whether your HTC One X PLUS is rooted or not, download the “Root Checker” app from the Google PLAY Store.
