I got a complaint from a client claiming he was experiencing dull /blurred/noisy images when using Gsky with his smart tv via HDMI cable.H e said he was trying to watch “Sports HD 24”. After interrogating him, I discovered the problem he was facing. He was facing TV and box/decoder video resolution setting matching problem. This problem can be caused by many factors which include: the inability of some tv to automatically match decoder resolution. Although most automatically match well and will need no further settings.
WHY DOES THE TV DECODER MATCHING PROBLEM ARISES IN THE FIRST PLACE?
GSKY V6 is a full hd decoder that is set to output 1080i / p by default. In the event that the channels you are watching are not 1080i, you may experience an image that is not so sharp. From my little experience, most of our channels in Africa does not go above 720p 60. If you want to get the sharpest picture quality for your gsky watching SD channels, you need to set Gsky to use a lower resolution. 720_60P will be just fine for all contents including HD videos. I will give a brief guide on how to do this as followings:
On your Gsky v6 remote, press main menu/system/av settings. Change the values to what you want and you will notice the immediate result. to test the full power of a full hd decoder, you can get a youtube video and watch it in 1080p resolution on your decoder via USB. That is how to know whether an image is sharp or dull.

Reuben qsat is a decoder plus a Dongle and that’s why it can never be consistent in viewing dstv. And that’s why we do experience a lot of freezes many times and sometimes goes off for many days! Dstv spend a lot of money wenever they upgrade and this affect qsat negatively. A powervu is not a dongle but its a legal sattelite company and it can never goes off or freeze once its well tracked. Wenever a key to powervu is changed, within 24hrs a new key wil be generated on internet! Dstv has no any power over viewing powervu

There’s something people don’t understand! qsat is working wit good stability now but its not reliable cos its down time is greater than its up time. Already there’s a jubilation by some people as if it never go off again! Try skewing your lnb properly and readjust the scaler ring. If you it doesn’t come up, tilt your dish up a little (note: you have to be a skilled installer to do this).

For those asking about the FD ratio. Looking at the LNBF you’ll see some numbers by the side. like 0.38 etc. that is the calculated FD ratio. Just as Jonathan said, For those experiencing signal loss at some times of the day should properly skew their lnb and adjust the FD ratio, it’ll work

That is the kind of poor service Qsat team is rendering to us. When there are live matches the canal sport channels 1,2,3,4 freezes annoyingly and most times go offline. So I don’t see the usefulness of the those channels. We are after live matches not dead once.

Just a few clarifications:
1. Gsky V6 has all Bein sport HD channels under its IPTV function… Like Lemmy has always said you need reliable internet activated on your Gsky box.
2. There is no freezing on MTN worldwide channels like HD sport 24 if your satellite dish is well installed and aligned.
3. If you are experiencing signal loss at certain times of the day, it means your LNB is not properly skewed…
4. Take into account the FD ratio for your dish as this affects signal reception which is probably the explanation why those with 1.8m dishes are failing to lock the HDsport24 signal.
5. If in Uganda and would like to buy scalar ring, multi LNB chassis holder and any other Gsky paraphernalia please call or whatsapp +256 702 455253.
6. We can install 3 satellites on a single dish that is MTN worldwide, Sony and Apstar 7 for cartoons..
7. Don’t blame Gsky for your inefficiencies because it is a superior product… Simply get an experienced installer and you will not regret spending that extra money…

The channels with audio issue are not just two but more than that. They are not many though. Even some of the radio stations are equally affected.
And Donjp, no matter how knowledgeable u are in satellite television technology dont be in hurry to write off what people think. Do your research first on what they say before u debunk or affirm their claims. Remember no one person is a custodian of all knowledge.

@Nath,yes it is possible, I av done it,track MBC first,then take 1 Ku lnb and hold to get canal,look at the distance inwhich you got ur signal for the canal,take your scaler with your cband lnb and track within the angle you got your signal,make sure you use a very good cband lnb.

It was said, DSTV has No controll over Powervu on Mtn package but I’ve come to disapprove that. Some crucial matches are not aired on sports 24 while you will get them on DSTV programme guide either on ss5 or ss3. Leave alone that, on 1st we had Chelsea vs norwich game which was changed at the last moment to factor in Leicester game. A great disapountment.
Leicester city is the team topping the league table so you can’t expect Sport 24 to show chelsea’s match. If DSTV has control over Sport 24 it would have stopped working.

You are right it has also a limitation of not scanning so many channels
It’s a pure ‘copy-tech’ of Strong decoders and nothing special

@dondon: it is because the auto roll function of q26g and q28g is not the best out there. please stick to q13g or use manual keys for your q26g

I’m surprised that I can’t access bein sports on IPTV in Gsky V6. Lemmy here said it was possible to get the bein sports 1to 16 HD on Gsky by manually editing the URL . please clarify Lemmy. I’m beginning to feel the only good thing on Gsky v6 is its powervu descrambler
Hello Mr Lemmy, my installer just made the connection for sport24 for me, and the signal strength is 53%, but most times it freezes and the channels dont ‘t show smoothly. Could the problem arise from the signal strength that is 53%?
@DOn: any freezing is either lnb issues or dish size. which ultimately means signal strength problems

I have the same problème with an 1.8m dish and a 15k c-band lnbf! The quality of signal is always (24/24) between 59 and 60% but channels freeze.
