Changes to Dstv super sports channels line up ahead of New season

As the new soccer season approaches, a lot of activities are in top gear. Both the hunter and the hunted are all trying to bring on their A game. The FTA, Iptv and dongle world is very busy no less as the various satellite service providers in Africa and the middle east. Today, we shall discuss dstv modified sports channels. I shall be aiming my shot on the modifications done on dstv Supersports channels in early July(Of course the claim is to serve you better). Overall, I mean on the paper, I will say it is a nice development. I will how ever let us wait until the actual deployment in August before we jump into any conclusion. Some channels have been upgraded to HD, some converted to events channels while some were added.

According to DStv website and as a result of my personal confirmation on a dst* zappa decoder loaded with dstv compact bouquet, I can authoritatively say the followings:

• I discovered that sselect 1 & 2, ss11hd, ss12hd went missing
• I realised that some channels which hitherto were not available on the compact bouquet started opening(I thought initially that it
• Some channels have been renamed
• Some channels have been upgraded to HD.

Like I said earlier, I discovered that some premium and compact+ exclusive channels started opening on the dstv compact bouquet. Before July 5th all you could get as a compact subscriber are ss12hd, ss11hd, ss1, sselect1, sselect 2, ss9, ss4. While ss1 shows some epl channels, ss12hd focused on la liga. Currently, the following channels are showing on dstv compact: ss8hd, ss10, ss3, ss7, ss4, ss2, blitz. What is left to be ascertained now is if ss3hd and ss7 will remain on compact plus when the soccer season finally kicks off. If they remain, it means you can watch epl, ucl and laiga if you are a dstv compact subscriber. Now let me leave you with excerpt from their website

14 SuperSport and one eSports channel.

     SuperSport has introduced a new channel line up to give sports lovers a better viewing experience and make it easy for fans to find their favourite sport. DStv customers can look forward to 14 SuperSport and one eSports channel, with less duplication of sports across channels and more predictable scheduling.

DStv customers on all packages can look forward to a rebranded SuperSport Select, now on SS10, and DStv Extra customers will get more sports channels – SS7 and SS8.

Fans of football can follow La Liga on SS7 exclusively, and SS11 (new channel) and SS12 will become permanent events channels to be the home for overflow sport.

“We believe that these changes will give our customers an even better viewing experience, making it easier to navigate our wide variety of sports in the back-to-back channels. As there will be less duplication and repeats of sport and no impact on live events, the overall sp sportsiewing will be enhanced,” said Gideon Khobane, CEO for SuperSport.

And of course, most of the channels will be in glorious HD – SS Blitz, SS1-9 and SS11 will be in HD, as will GINX eSports TV. SS8 has already been changed to HD. SS10, SS4, SS2, and ss9 are still in SD

The new channel line up has already taken effect on Tuesday 4 July. Super sport blitz is now an HD channel and is on channel 220
