For the past couple of weeks, i have been telling my readers about a possibility of an updated firmware for Azsky G6. The purpose of the software update is basically to add new features to G6 and also to correct some bugs associated with G6. When azsky promises, they deliver am happy to announce to my esteemed readers that a beta version of the latest software for G6 has been released. I have tested it and i will share my experience with you, before telling you how to go about updating yours, if you are impatient to wait for the final version. I must quickly add this, using the software in its current beta form will not negatively impact on the performance of your G6. However, you may choose to wait for the final version which will come out much later.
What is New In This Firmware
Most normal users of Azsky G6 may not notice some bugs with the decoder, but advanced users like me always pay attention to every detail in other to give an objective analysis. Some of the issues that I personally noticed in G6 have been corrected and more features have been added to G6. The features and performance are as follows:
- Normally when navigating the menu with your G6 remote control, you will notice a kind of slow response, this latest software has addressed this issue of slow remote control.
- The User interface is even more colorful with more vibrant icons and more detailed picture quality.
- We now have an additional feature under Channels this new feature is called OTT TV this feature will be used to add URLs for more iptv later. And under channels, the sorting is now easier and you can easily mark and delete and mark and move channels. In other words, you can easily place all your favorite channels on top of the list or in a favorite folder
- Under Multimedia, we now have Picasa, RSS, and YouTube. Under RSS; you have some internet tv like CBC, Yahoo, CNN, BBC, NBA, FBI, GOOGLE, and Apple you can watch all this via Wi-Fi, 3g modem, or LAN connection.
- Under System settings, we now have the following new features; Information. Now Under Network settings, we now have a 3g internet modem option so the means of connecting to the internet on G6 is now three: Wi-Fi, Wired Network, and 3G. However, the 3g option is the only area where we have issues. I tested the 3g network settings with almost all the sim cards I have in Nigeria and I got a connection failure. I have reported this back to my dealer and they will address this before releasing the final stable software other than that, the software offers better performance.
- Others; Under the “others” menu we have games, a calendar, a calculator, weather, and a function module.
Pr-requisite to loading this New Software into G6
- Download the firmware here; Nov_SU_TESTP11_YCBCR_20131210
- Make sure you have a stable power supply, if your electricity is not stable, please use a generator
- You also need a virus-free USB flash drive
HOW TO LOAD THE NEW SOFTWARE INTO AZSKY G6
- Download the software from the link above
- Extract the software with a winrar to reveal the.SSU file inside the .zip archive that i uploaded
- Copy the .ssu file into your USB drive
- Now on your remote press MENU>>System setting>> Update $ Backup >> Upgrading by USB
5. Now scroll to the right and select the software that you have earlier copied into your flash drive as shown below
6. Select Yes when prompted and wait for the updating process to start;
7. Now wait for about five minutes for the upgrade to finish
8. Once the upgrade is done, your decoder will reboot.
FIX FOR YOUR DST* CHANNELS NOT SHOWING AFTER UPGRADING TO THE LATEST VERSION
You may be alarmed if your dst* / Nilesat channels refuse to show after the upgrade, well this is because the new software has disabled some functions and hidden other functions. Here, I will teach you how to reveal the hidden features as well as enable the needed services for your G6 to continue opening scrambled channels on dst* and Nilesat;
On your remote press MENU>>OTHERS>> THEN PRESS 7799 in quick succession>>You will now have Server list setup>>Function Module>>Patch key>>Multicas info>>Server setup.
Now select the function module from the list, and set the parameters under the function module as follows; once you are done with setting the twin protocol to Y4, and the function module to OFF. Your channels will be back online
NOTE: Please if your sim card was hitherto working perfectly with g6, don’t touch GPRS APN SET. however, if you are in a country where your sim card was not automatically detected by g6, you can force your g6 to now use your APN as shown in my example below. AM in Nigeria and am using MTN Nigeria below are the manual APN settings for MTN Nigeria.

Hi Lemmy after upgrading my G6 is just showing 00:00 on the front. no image and I can not even use the remote. The tv is showing no signal. Thnks for your help

I have updated my azsky g6 with the software.However when I connect my LAN the azsky g6 is saying not connected under network status. I am using a wifi router. Kindly advise.
@ominiyi, wifi and lan internet are two opposing technology. One is wired the other is wireless. 2Bah Djibril, its not wifi antenna, it is gprs antenna, without it, your g6 will not work well with sim card

My Oga,nd name sake,Weldon for brain work. LM sir,what do know or what is your advice to customers about ds Qsat bcause 4 anoda one full day it has not being working and ds people didn’t stop calling me,But just as you rightly said b4 now dat it will be good if anybody can just have AZSKY Dongle product for backup alternatively. I think dat is what I will begin to tell them and also myself will stop buying Qsat for now until I see dat they have really improve on their server. So I wait to hear from you my Oga. Thns. reply.

hello boss lemmy, I’m from Cameroon, I am a former user of Qsat decoder, I wanted to try AZSKY G6, I bought two boxes last December, I made the update with the file you posted on this post, I set the APN of MTN Cameroon, the LED “signal” remains green, the LED “DATA” flashes orange four times then blinks green when I change channels, however the channels D * TV remains encrypted. I contacted my vendor, Chinese on aliexpress, he can not tell me how to activate it. or at least checking the validity of account of these decoders. I have read all your tutorials on AZSKY G6 and I’ve done all possible settings you specified but nothing changes, could you help me check if these boxes do have a valid account? or possibly tell me how to solve this problem?

@Lemmy and everyone on this thread; Plz which of the SD channel is stable for now so that I can station my G6 on it and its has not been opening any of the DST* channels and yesterday monday night make it 2weeks since I upgraded it. I am just surprised that Lemmy dont approve .most of my complains on it. I hope you feel what I maybe going through on this.
@Olarmy, don’t know what you are going through because your g6 problem is not a common one. why must you upgrade when you know you can’t setup the decoder after upgrade. besides, i told you to enable y4 funtion of the decoder after upgrade before your decoder can continue opening dst* channels. But from your complain, it is very obvious that you didn’t read the article very well

@tosin, name sake, dst* is not attacking qsat, qsat has made more customers than the resources they have on ground. its either they discard some customer, or they invest into their business and expand their resources

@Bolar, the truth is that you can’t force HD channels to show… only the receiver’s service provider can do that.
Lemmy, I am in Ghana and all my HD channels have not been showing since october. Most of my Dst** channels are also unstable. May i know why and will the beta upgrade help fix this problem. Can i continue to use my mtn chip after the upgrade?
My problem is on wake a dead q sat with blue screen , How will I solve this problem ? Am i insetting the pen drive with the q g sat upgrading soft ware before( I press the blue key and F A V key) or.?
@majeed, if your qsat enters bootloop, you won;t be able to perform any operation on your qsat other than to revive it.

@Issahaku: plz whats the name of the rar file, cos i tried downloading again yesterday but on the download link i discovered there exist two files. On my first download the name of the rar is Nov_SU_TESTP11_YCBCR_20131210, while the second is Azsky_G6_Update_Firmware and the file sizes are 3,887kb and 3,434kb respectively. Please clearify us on this as you can see many of us couldnt upgrade ours, and i am having the feelings its the sofware we are using. I would have confirm this to you guys in the house but unfortunately for me i downloaded it on my system in office which i left behind at work, but i will try that later today and get back to you guys. @Issahaku plz confirm the rar file you extracted…….Waiting to read soon and Lemmy whats your take on this?

@Issahaku, May i know if your G6 is working perfectly in Ghana. For mine, some channels are not stable and the HD channels do not show at all.

i also tried flashing this update. twice.
as far as i can tell i could not identify any of the differences highlighted in your post.
i simply got my pre-arranged channels scattered. that’s the only confirmation i had that the flashing actually worked. and telemundo now shows.
other than that, none of the other things you highlighted are present. perhaps we have the wrong update file?

Thanks LM. But pls when it come to anything on G6 be specifying on where the switch should be THUS SAT, GPRS or TWIN. I believe it is very important cos I read one article which say with the new G6 Sat SW the button should be on SAT but u neva specify. So pls whenever u give us news on G6 Let’s know where the button should be
@ayinla, the switch doesn’t count, but for the records, put it in SAT.
I am surprised that my comment which i submitted was not made public here, anyway, in summary the software upgrade had no changes whatsoever after i did it, i even did it twice to be sure and i followed your tutorial step by step and nothing changed. I am glad to see that i am not the only one who noticed there was no change in it too. please check , at least 3 people reported same issue, then there is some iota of truth in it.

Y ou are the only person reporting the issue, i told you the changes you will notice, i don’t know the changes you are expecting?/. BEsides, this is a better version not the final release so please wait for the final release if you can’t get this working.. you didn’t give me the screenshot of your upgrading, i gave the screenshot of my upgrading for all to see, i also gave the pictures of some of the changes after the upgrade.
