Azsky G3 Router Adapter A Must have For All Decoders Configurations, Tips and Tricks

There is no way i can cover everything in reviewing the azsky g3 router. What I will try to do is to highlight what g3 can do based on my usage or call it an assessment of the sample of G3 that I received two weeks ago. Don’t misunderstand me, the final official release of G3 is not yet out as this will take up to January before the mass production is conducted. G3 comes in a small box, similar to how other azsky dongles are packaged, It comes with the new type of rs232 with an Audio jack(same rs232 cable that G1 Super came with). also in the pack is a power cord that is detachable in other words it comes with a USB adapter and a popular USB cable(this means you can power on your g3 with the same cable used for your Android phone or Blackberry phone, it also uses the same general adapter that can be used to charge most popular smartphones).

MAJOR COMPONENTS / ACCESSORIES TO BE USED WITH THE AZSKY G3 ROUTER

• You need a good 3Ginternet modem with an active sim inside the modem
• You definitely need a LAN cable  (also known as ethernet cable orRj4 cable) picture below
• You also need the USB cable with adapter(both came with the router you can use the USB cable alone and connect it to any functional USB port like that of your pc or the one on your computer, you can alternatively attach the USB cable to your USB adapter and plug it into a power source)

MAJOR FEATURES OF THE AZSKY G3 ROUTER

You can get all the technical specifications here. What I will talk about today is the practical specifications and features of the G3 router when tested by me. G3 router is what I call small but mighty. It has all the features of top-notch routers like tp-link routers, Vodafone routers, and Huawei routers and it goes a step further. Some of its unique and innovative features include; the USB cable(this allows you to use your router without directly plugging it into a power outlet as you can power it with any USB port and it will work just fine. Another unique feature is that it has dongle functionality that enables you to watch scrambled channels on compatible decoders. I tested this router on link decoders, strong 4922A, qsat decoder, Azsky G6, Dreambox, skybox, Openbox, and redline decoder.

• G3 opens dst* and jsc sports on Nilesat when you connect your g3 to a decoder via rs232 cable(you will have to set the decoder to twin protocol or dongle before this works for qsat, simply remove your sim card from qsat and connect g3 via rs232 cable)
• G3 can work round the clock without losing the connection of the modem
• the little size of g3 make it convenient to be carried anywhere and placed anywhere(i currently placed mine on my mirror cos that where i get the best signal for my 3g sim card)
• there are lights on g3 that will enable you easily interpret if anything is wrong with your router
• it has two LAN ports(this is a plus considering its small size
• It is cheaper than any good router out there
• The choice of using a USB cable as the power cord instead of the normal and usual ac cord means you don’t need to be afraid if your power cord got damaged as you can use that of your phone with it.
• G3 like most other popular router will transmit your 3g modem connection into a wireless hotspot in such a way that all your devices that supports wifi can connect to your router and browse the internet without stress.
• G3 comes with easy to change the password(so that no one will connect to your router stealthily
• G3 is very easy to configure.
• G3 is not decoder-biased it works flawlessly with any good decoder.
• G3 can be used to network computers in a company or cafe wirelessly.
• If you don’t want to be switching connections at home or office, between your decoder and your laptop, then you need a router like G3 to manage your connection.
• G3 Dongle account is different from its router firmware(you can update the router without it affecting your dongle service account and vice versa you can upgrade the dongle account the same way you upgrade G1 or G1 super)
• You can easily show off with g3 as it gives you your own wifi hotspot and make you the administrator.

HOW TO SETUP G3 AS A BEGINNER:

If you are a normal user, all you need to do is to use azsky g3 router in 3G router mode to entitle you to use its dongle functionalities as well as its router capability. Follow the steps below to get started with G3;

1. Use Ethernet / Lan cable to connect your g3 to your PC(use Lan2 port), open your computer browser e.g internet explorer, and type the following as your URL http://192.168.0.1 when you are prompted to enter a password enter the username (admin) and password(admin), enter, choose “3G Router Mode”, click “Quick Setup:” You need to change from Wireless AP mode to 3G router mode.

2. Setting your sim card parameter.
2.1 There are situations where  your 3G USB model and sim card will match e.g in Nigeria, I set my mtn, glo, airtel, and etisalat to automatic and they worked just fine, So if you are in Nigeria, choose” Profile Name” >>choose “Automatic selection” , and click “Next”,

However, if you are in a part of the world where your 3G modem and sim card are not matched, In other words, if G3 cannot connect your 3g USB modem and can not read your sim card APN, you can enter the sim card settings parameters in G3 as shown below.
2.2 Click on ”Basic”–“WAN Settings”, then click the “Add” button at the bottom of this page.

2.3 Consummate all parameters here, if you don’t know your manual APN settings, please visit the service center of your service provider or call your service provider on your mobile phone.,and click ”save” to save. Here I set the name “AZSKY G3”, then fill in ISP, APN, Dial Number, etc.

for example, I use mtn Nigeria and the following manual apn settings to be used with G3 are as follows;

Profile name: AZSKY G3

APN: web.gprs.mtnnigeria.net

DIAL Number: *99#

USERNAME: web

PASSWORD: web

2.5 Now go back to step 2.1, and from the dropdown list you will now find the profile created earlier, you will find “AZSKY G3” here, choose and see all detail that you filled in before, then click “next”.

2.6 In the next page, you can assign your wifi hotspot name to the router, you can as well change the default password of the router(e.g the default password for g3 is 8888888)

Once you perform the above operations, all you need to do is to search for your wifi router with any wifi device you have and connect it with the password you assigned earlier.
