When we talk AFN, what mainly comes to mind is sports. American forces network(AFN) Is a satellite package owned by the US government and operated by their armed forces. This satellite can be nailed on multiple satellite positions. For example, AFN’s easiest tracking position in Nigeria is on Eutelsat 9.0E. The satellite package is put up to meet the broadcasting needs of the US servicemen and women, including their Families. They have been at this for 75 years down the line. Today, we will discuss AFN tracking positions/frequencies, but before then, let me talk about some channels that showed UCL last week.

Some FTA channels that steadily broadcast all UCL Matches
- Sony six Intelsat 20 SD Showed barca vs Olympiacos freq: Powervu 68.5E 3900 h/v 22222
- The HD version of Sony is on Intelsat 17 powervu: 66E 3845 V 30000. The base dish size for Sony is now 2.4 meters from Nigeria.
- Sony ESPN HD: 68.5E 3900V 22222 while Sony ESPN HD is 66e 3845v30000
- Sport24 HD @ 57e 4096 v 30000 or at 34.5w (Sport24 requires a 1.8meters dish)
- Finally: TVM @ 16e @ 11024 H 3333.

AFN has varieties of programs. These programs range from sports to movies, news, and entertainment. Afn Sports airs live champions league matches Tuesdays and Wednesdays(only from the knockout stages onward), basketball matches, WWE, tennis championships, and more. AFN tracking positions/frequencies
Although you can also track AFN on the 34.5w mtn Worldwide position, I won’t advise this because you will not get the full package if you do. The best position for Nigerians and the west is on 9.0E with a 1-meter dish or larger. You can receive these channels for the following positions.
- Eutelsat 9°E -11804 V 27500– KU BAND and a min of 1-meter dish. It opens with most powervu auto roll decoders
- Thor 0.8°W -4175 R 28000
- Intelsat 64.2°E -4093 L 3680
Many regions in Africa find it tough to track AFN on 9E. If you happen to fall into this category, try the other alternatives. Thor 0.8°W 4175 R 28000 Intelsat 64.2°E -4093 L 3680 for Thor 0.8west you need a minimum of 1.8m dish and a c band LNB and the tracking Tp is 4175 H 28000 R stands for H and L for V note when tracking this particular satellite you don’t need the dielectric plate inside the c-band LNB its broadcast as circular but in the real sense it is linear. On the contrary, for Intelsat 64.2, you need 1.8 meters or larger to track with tp 4093 V 3680. You need to insert the plate when tracking this.

@LMN: only Cisco official decoder can open those channels in powervu at the moment
How can I watch free sport channels on my decoder?
@Emmanuel: generally premium sports channels aren’t free you must do something extra to watch them. you need a paid subscription either officially or illegally.
Good day Mr Lemmy, I have this decoder PowerView Sportsnet8000 which can track real time progress. I did try to track 9°E with 11804/v/27500 but strangely, I got this signal going on and off a little below 7°E with my 90cm. Plz could that be right or does it mean that it’s sharing frequency with another satelite? I wiggled the dish around that point to see if something pops up but no rather go off but when I find that point again it keeps fluctuating between 20-22%

@ebrima: they are on a Satellite that 90cm can no longer receive here in Nigeria. I don’t know if you can get with such size of dish in Gambia

Nyasha, for Zim best option is the C-band option for AFN.
help, I actually bought a new 7500HD decoder, went through all the manual set up but it still says “the service cannot be decrypted”

Not quite, I am only an enthusiast but I enlisted the services of about two other professionals when I failed to track it myself but unfortunately they failed too.

Thanks for your assistance. I had severally in the past tracked 7e first, changed to 9e, shifted a bit to the left and down with the lnb at 7 o’clock position but no green. My fear is that probably it does not work in Enugu. I had asked many installers and no one claimed he had or seen anyone track the satellite.

@sunny l: the two positions are far apart. However it’s gonna be easier for you to combine both if your 2.4m dish is motorised
