Yesterday, I posted some vital information about Gsky v8 HD. One of its features is the ability to record your tv program and save it to any USB device storage. This feature is generally called PVR. First of all, I will like to define “PVR”. A personal video recorder (PVR) is an interactive TV recording device. This can be a satellite receiver or any set-top box. SOME HINTS ON RECORDING AND PLAYING PVR VIDEOS
To start with, i will say not every free to air standalone decoder can record programs. Secondly, not all free to air with pvr functions are capable of recording all channels. Going further, I mean, some FTA decoders can record free to air channels but they can’t record channels that are unlocked by non-official methods like smart cards. Similarly, some powerful decoders like T-link can record streams from every channel with or without the “$” sign. Gsky V8 offers the same feature but with a wider compatibility. With V8, you can record on your USB flash/pen drive. On t-link and some others, you need to either format your drive to NTFS or use an already formatted external Harddrive. Activating Gsky V8 personal video recording was tested on every channel that is currently opening on it.

In addition, to the above, there is this limitation on every video that you record via a PVR decoder. The problem is with playing the recorded file(which is mainly in .ts format) with any media player outside the decoder. In other to play such files on your pc, mac or mobile phones, you will need to convert from .ts to .mp4. I have a link that can help you with the conversion here. Noteworthy, the conversion is applicable also to all kinds of PVR decoders not only to IKS or FTA decoders. Even when you are using a satellite provider branded decoder, you can try this out.
