Mobile phone manufacturers should always conduct an opinion poll before removing any critical design on their flagship phones. Not everyone is cool when a certain design is missing on their phones. Most times, we leave with it. Today, I will discuss, in brief, 5 non-human-friendly designs on phones that we have in the market today.
5 Non-Human-Friendly Designs On Phones Today
Now, the development of smartphones is more advanced, but some very shocking designs are being introduced while some features are removed. Then, let’s look at the five most speechless anti-human designs on the mobile phone today.
1. The Cancellation of the 3.5mm Headphone Jack By Major Phone Manufacturers
I will admit that this is the most painful one for me. I mean, not everyone is interested in using a Bluetooth headset. Besides, Bluetooth must be charged, while your wired 3.5mm headphone requires no charging. Apple has been the proponent of ditching this feature since 2016. This received wide criticism then. Unfortunately, even their greatest rival(Samsung) has ditched the audio jack, starting with the Note 10 series in 2019.
The 3.5mm headphone jack is canceled, and you can’t charge while listening to your song. In my honest opinion, this is an anti-human feature. Moreover, they don’t supply Bluetooth headsets with the phone for free. It means you have to buy their earphones/buds separately.
Yes, there are wireless earphones now, but small ones may be lost if you don’t pay attention, and they are costly. I will urge the major brands to always consult before removing human-friendly features.
2. Raising the Rear Camera Lens is not so Human Friendly
Starting from the iPhone 6 or so, all Apple rear camera lenses have witnessed an elevated position. Before this, cameras on the iPhone used to have almost flat lenses, as you can see from the iPhone 5/5s above. Samsung also started using raised rear camera lenses starting from Galaxy S4. Nowadays, finding any middle-range/high-end phone with a flat rear camera surface is difficult.
The major disadvantage of phones with raised camera lenses is that it is easily scratched up when the phone is being placed. I would have preferred a situation whereby we could have a retractable rear camera lens.

3. The Hybrid Dual-Sim tray on the Mobile phone is not as Convenient as the Previous Dual-Sim Tray
Conventional mobile phones have moved to hybrid dual sim trays. I will admit that this is not a human-friendly design at all. With a hybrid sim tray setup, you must either trade off your micro SD card or one sim card. Below is the picture of a typical hybrid dual sim tray, which houses two sim cards or a sim card and an SD card. Luckily, the iPhone Xs max dual standby sim can accommodate only two sims without any SD card.
Similarly, below is an image of a typical dual standby SIM tray that accommodates an SD card. You can insert two sims and an SD card in this tray simultaneously.
4. A more Fragile LCD/OLED Screen on an all-glass Design Phone
Mobile manufacturers are migrating to all glass-body designs so consumers can enjoy wireless charging. While the all-glass design option is understandable, it has disadvantages. You can easily deface and devalue your phone when dropped without an excellent protective case.
Similarly, LCD screens are now more fragile than before. I sincerely wish we could have a good anodized aluminum back with a stronger screen. In the meantime, the only mitigation at our disposal is a good protective case and screen protector.
In addition, many mobile phones have curved glass screens, and some have glass on the back, which means you can’t afford to let them fall! Apart from this, it is costly to change one piece.
5. The Ugly Notch on the Top of Some Modern Phone Screens, like the iPhone X
Surprisingly, many big manufacturers besides Samsung have already copied this screen design from Apple. There is nothing aesthetic about this, in my opinion. Isn’t it better to have a high screen-to-body ratio? Even though it is ugly, many businesses are still following the trend. LG, Huawei, Xiaomi, oneplus, and many more have at least one flagship with a replica of the iPhone X notch. What’s wrong with this world?
Final Thoughts
Of all the trending designs listed above, the only excusable one for me is the all-glass body due to the wireless charging technology. The most irritating design is the cancellation of the audio jack. Another area of concern is why Samsung keeps producing mobiles with almost useless (in the real sense) curved screens, and Apple keeps releasing new phones with top-notch.

I enjoyed reading through your write up. The time has come when it is the manufacturing companies that controls what the consumer ‘eats’. Actually the companies don’t care about you and I. Mobile phones are becoming more sophisticated and more fragile.
